  • A better away to see orcas is a much better video. People can't resist touching wild animals to the point that they will take an orca from their home. They only feed them when they perform.

  • @MUNDOM316 of their teeth. They drill out the teeth on purpose. A former trainer spoke out saying that they did this purely to condition the orcas to the pain of captivity. Captivity should become a thing of the past. Not the future.

  • @MUNDOM316 u saved the species by educating people who had no idea what they were. Now we do. So why keep them I captivity if we have learned all we can from keeping them captive? Also NONE of the SW orcas can be freed because

  • all of these PETA supporting queers need to get the fuck out of here cuz they have absolutely no idea what they're fucking talking about. "animals in captivity is wrong" incase u guys didnt know the san diego zoo/ san diego wild animal park saved the california condor from near extinction saving the species IN CAPTIVITY where they r protected from HUNTERS!

  • its like dancing with death..

  • you gotta love how all of the anti-cap idiots comment on pro-cap vids but never their own. and we were asked not to make anti-cap comments but that is all that is on here! if you don't like captivity, don't go to zoos, aquariums, watch 'nature' tv channels or videos like this! it's that simple

  • This video made me want to vomit. I dont understand how some people can be so deluded to actually think the Orca loves its trainer. They just want a fish! They cant hunt, they cant leave, bored unstimulated and lonely. They are in jail ON DEATH ROW, worked until they are dead. If the trainer loved it, he would try to release it back to where it belongs, free in the ocean where it can choose where it goes and what it does. Not performing the same stupid tricks.

Seaworld 25 Orca deaths in 25 years.

  • How can you wish something like that!! they are slaves!! separate from their families to entertain people, to be clowns!! did you know that they are free animals? and to get one in a pool the people kills the rest of the family? please watch the documentary, THE COVE, and i know you wont wish something like that anymore!!

  • oh...my...god. amazing. Orcas are most amazing animals ever. I want to train them more than anything else in the whole world! They are incredable

  • @Orcaballet instead of 'training' them, if you love them WHY NOT GET INTO CONSERVATION OF THE WILD ORCAS?? They are more incredible in pods on the open ocean than in a concrete tank. Justsayin'

  • we have to fight for these animals!

  • Only four deaths at SeaWorld? ONLY? If there were 15 deaths would that be worse? If you were the one dead would it make a difference? Sorry, one death is one too many. Retire these animals to sea pens. SeaWorld needs to stop creating "future orca trainers" and start creating "future conservationists." They need to be known for a rescue, rehabilitation, and release program for wild orcas. It's past time for these animals to go home.

  • Can a person form bonds with an orca in the wild?

  • It amazes me how these beautiful intelligent beings can be so loveing and kind after all the cruelty man has shown them.

  • Animal training is what I want to do. Antis can say whatever they want, but nothing will make me change.

  • OMG ! the whale is being told what to do by the whistle the whale is nnot happily playing my free will with the trainer ! this is all lies !

  • these TRAINERS* knwo nothing of orcas all they have a scuba diving license and are over 18 thats all you need to become a slave master

  • who in their right mind would get into the water with a KILLER whale ! bond my a**

  • i love orcas and one day i just dream off working with them xxx

  • @butterflyflyaway40 you mean making them work for you

  • Orcas and trainers are two words that don't belong together. Orcas and nature would be more appropriate.

  • Yummy, sushi!

  • @Natheyja The algea is contaminated with let's say 10% pollution. The phytoplankton will have about 20% contamination. Small fish species will be 35%, large fish 60%, when you finally get to the Orca it will be like 80-90% pollution contamination within it's system. As you can imagine that would cause some problems for the animal. This is why sea pen's are actually a pretty bad idea, it's worse than setting them free in the wild.

  • @assblaster08 They die in those aquariums before their time anyway. Maybe it would be better to spend the last years free and die free? Who knows...

Resident orcas feed on coastal areas, they are contaminated and will be even more so. But they will adjust, just like any other species. Most orcas still live their lives long and content in most areas. There are areas where there's little food, so they travel or starve. They aren't the only species to do that.

  • THEY NEVER should have kept an Orca in captivity that once was free. He killed 2, 3 people, he knew what he was missing, and was TOO BIG for their tanks. He wanted the whole ocean back, maybe.

  • FREE CORKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this

    C:

  • all animals love me they know i care about them

  • wow <3

  • i start to cry :D <3<3<3<3

  • Voll schöön ♥

  • @Kanani1708 SW in 2010 made a reported $1.2 Billion... in that same year the SW Conservation Fund donated a mere $1 Million... this equates to just 0.08%

  • ill ******* post an anti captivity comment if i want. captivity sucks for orcas. its easy for humans to say its ok because we cant feel what they feel. the pools are tiny, the noise is deafening, and they arent able toexperience life as it was supposed to be for them, in the wild.

  • @SpockLover27 "they are born into captivity and therefore it is ok" is the EXACT SAME way an American slave owner thought of slaves born into slavery during pre civil war times. By your thinking, being born into slavery is ok because they don't know of the outside world. Captivity of cetaceans is WRONG ON ALL LEVELS

  • @krazyface123 well then do something about it if ur not going to then just shut ur peta loving ass up I;ve worked at Sea World San Diego, & now at the World Famous San Diego Zoo & i can tell u that these animals are being taken care of so get out of here with that captivity is wrong bull shit & incase u didnt know we have saved animals from damn near extinction

  • wats the song?

  • I love orcas. They've taught me a lot about peace.

Why must Sea World put these wild and free spirits, the wolves of the ocean, into glass jars and torture them with captivity and overwhelming noise for years on end? Why must Sea World tear these loving, intelligent creatures away from their families, so the mothers cry in the ocean and their babies cry on land?

Please free Willy. Please set my whales free.

  • @eastariel I understand what you are saying, but, a lot of Orcas are born in captivity... Not all of them would know what to do in the wild. I understand though. When I go to the zoo, I feel really bad for the animals, but remebember, captivity is all most of them have ever known.

  • @SpockLover27

How sad that they're born in captivity.

That's like a baby being born in jail and never being allowed to leave.

  • they aren't pets for us to keep in swimming pools to hug and kiss and baby talk, they're free ranging, wild predators that belong in the ocean. "amazing bond" my ass.

  • @GenerationEpic90 Trainers have a really bond with the animals, they need trust before they can do trics for them. you don't know me if i asked you to give me a cup of tea you won't do it because you don't know me, but if you are friends with me maby you should say ok, i'll get you some. Most of the animals are born in captivity. Its not the trainers who capture the orcas, by learning them trics they have 'a sort of' not boring life... But that doesn't take away that i'm against capture animals.

  • i am crying because this is my dream but now we aren't aloud in thw tank with them because of don and tilikum

  • I LOVE orcas and They do have a wonderful bond with thier trainers but I dont think they should be in captivity, also they do attack sometimes but rarely and sometimes They are just trying to play or an accident happens such as the trainer gets hit by the orcas tail but it is sometimes on purpose, but if you were stuck in a tank all your life would you fight back? please no hate comments :)

  • do they have to put sappy music in the back ground

  • riding on the back of an orca that's trust for you.

  • awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww how sweet!

  • @023td Even if conditions for captive Orcas were uniformly

superb and illnesses, stillbirths and premature deaths were unheard of; the question

would nevertheless remain: do we have the right to deprive fellow creatures of their

    liberty ? - WDCS

  • @023td Actually while most Seaworld orcas are captive born none of the wild sourced orcas were rescued. They were deliberately captured (most of them are from iceland) to be placed in captivity. As far as I know Seaworld has never rescued then re released any wild orcas.

  • really amazing video

  • So wonderful :')

  • This is exactly what I want to do, even though I hate whales being captive, I want to be a part of a whales life, and if this is how I have to do it, well then this is the way I have to do it. :)

  • This video made me smile:)

  • 37 people are really dumb and dont understand what a gift it is to have these wonderful animals and see them perform :)

  • I just noticed alot of the video has Dawn in it....

  • @anonymous97100 HI, I just want to ask you a question. When you say " These whales were either brought in because they were injured and now cannot go back to the wild because they are accustomed to captivity"

do you mean that the killer whales now in captivity were all rescued (and born in captivity)?

  • If those trainers really loved their orcas...wouldn't they want their orcas to have a beautiful free life? :[

  • @xSaphiredust I think they want, but they still love them ( its not the trainers who capture orcas)

  • @locsamOrca It's a really wonderfull video! I loved it (:

  • @locsamOrca Actually, there is a trainer on site when these animals are captured. They're there on behalf of the buyer (theme park) to choose one.

  • @locsamOrca How true- it's the people standing in line at seaworld that capture these animals. Economics is based on supply and demand. If there wasn't anyone waiting to see them there would be no market and no seaworld. The public is to blame.

  • @phantomzangel Killer Whales captures are in fact NOT out-lawed in the USA... the Display Parks made sure of that in 1994 with the MMPA amendments... I'll send you a copy right now to your Channel.... anyone else who wants this MMPA amendment please feel free to inquire.

  • @xSaphiredust just to say, those orcas borned there, they don't know better, so it aint sad, those orcas got the best of their lifes there, see them having fun.

  • @xSaphiredust It's true that Orcas, as well as all other animals, belong in the wild and we shouldn't interfere with their lives, other than to learn more about them, so that we can protect them better. Unfortunately, most animals that are born and raised in captivity cannot be released into the wild. They just wouldn't have the necessary skills to survive. All we can do, is make sure they are as comfortable and happy as possible where they are.

  • @assblaster08 Why not release them into a sea pen, if not full release? Compared to having to perform many times a day in all the noise, with all the medical issues they have including poor dental care, infections etc. Sea pen would make the whales as comfortable and as happy as they possibly could be if they can't be freed. The truth is that the park owners think about the money, they don't care about their trainers (like all the lies behind Dawn's case proved) nor the whales.

  • @Natheyja I agree that the park owners are greedy and only care about the money, but the answer is not in releasing them. That would only get them killed. My suggestion is that the government puts a cap on the breeding policies. They're only allowed to have a few animals breed, if we could stop this all together than future generations of whales wouldn't have to suffer.

  • @assblaster08 I agree, the breeding policies should be stopped, should never have been allowed in the first place. Sea pen can be only a temporary option. Lolita for example, could rejoin her pod, after rehabilitation, I'm sure she'd love that. And we know very little because nobody has tried. People take one look at Keiko's case and they think it'll never work, he didn't have family to join in unfortunately. If she can join her pod she probably would hunt with them ... continue...

  • @Natheyja The sea pen would have to be right off the coast in order for us to manage it properly, which means that levels of pollution entering it from land would be high. Pollution travels up the food chain in large doses and the farther up you get the worse the effect becomes. For example, Let's say the sea pen's ecosystem consists of algea, phytoplankton, small species of fish (pick one), large species of fish(pick one) and our beloved Orca. This is just a simple food chain.

  • @assblaster08 Oh like Tilikum that is from Iceland? Have you seen the waters around Iceland, you can't even begin to compare them to U.S coast. Besides orcas don't move far off the coasts, especially resident orcas (which most of the ones in captivity are). The levels of pollution in oceans are high as it is, you can't escape that but the pollution is nothing compared to the health (mental and physical) problems they face in captivity. We eat all sorts of toxins yet it doesn't impair our lives ;P

  • @xSaphiredust If people love dogs, why not let them be free? Why keep them in captivity?

  • @xSaphiredust exactly. God loved the birds and put them in trees, man "loved" the birds and put them into cage. if we will really love these animals, we want them to be free.

  • @xSaphiredust you are right. who wants to be caged. they are slaves working on a tank. I think they are very rational and aware of what's going on.

  • @xSaphiredust Free where they can be hunted? Yes it would be great if we lived in a world where we stopped spreading and taking away land that animals need, or putting them in cages, or keeping wild animals as pets for the 'cool' factor, but that's not our world. Seaworld at least uses some of its profits to save animals.

  • @xSaphiredust Ok me myself going to school for Marine Biology to be a Orca trainer. Will settle this. Orcas that are in captivity such as Sea World and other places, are orcas that were caught to save their life. Orcas that are in captivity were rescued, because they were injured and we found them. We don't just capture normal orcas and hold them. Definitely not the case.

  • @TheMarineKid17 NOT TRUE, they are now being BORN IN CAPTIVITY!! An unnatural habitat!!! For the all known GREED

  • I don't want to be a trainer, I would rather take photos of them in their natural habitat not a tank without a current and when they echo-locate it bounces off the tank walls.Yep that's the great life of a captive orca!

  • @xxtasha10xx -_- It's seriously annoying how many people claim to be animal lovers but don't understand a thing about them!! These animals were raised in captivity, they cannot be released!! They wouldn't survive!! Would you like to put them all down? We will need some pretty huge graves or urns for that!!! Be an animal understander not a lover!! Educate yourself before you preach!!!

  • @assblaster08 I wasn't talking about captive born orcas was I..Did I talk about captive born orcas? No I never so stfu...I was just saying I would rather see them in the wild than pay money to encourage behaviour that wouldn't even occur in the wild and I'm not talking about captive orcas but if people actually loved animals in the first place we wouldn't even be having this discussion so why don't you let people have their opinions.

  • @assblaster08 And who says that they can't? Lolita (Tokitae) is probably the best candidate for full release after rehabilitation, she knows her pods dialect, and has the skills needed to survive in the wild, she would probably even join her own pod again. We know very little about releasing orcas back in the wild, it could be done, but these park owners are too greedy to do that. If not full release they could be put into sea pens, where they don't have to perform, and they're relatively free.

  • @Natheyja If Lolita was in rehabilitation, than yes she could be released, but she's in captivity NOT rehabilitation. There's a huge difference. Ok...she knows her pods 'dialect' but her pod is comprised of the whales in SeaWorld. Should she be realised she would not know other pods dialects as they are all different. And no animal raised in captivity has any chance of learning skills to survive in the wild. She's been hand feed since an early age and can't hunt. How would she survive?

  • @assblaster08 ...continue... as they learn a lot in their first years there. Orcas have a good memory, she probably would remember how things work, or would catch up to them again. She isn't senile after all. :) But MSQ owner will never let her loose, she'll probably perform until she dies. :/ And sorry for the late replies I didn't get notice from your replies.

  • Yeah, we know very little about releasing them because we can't figure out how to do it. There have been absolutely no successful attempts ever. It's just impossible for us to teach them those skills, since we know so little about them. That's why they are so beautiful and highly studied by Marine Biologists and other scientist because we know virtually nothing about them.

  • That has to be an amazing feeling to be so close to such a powerful animal.

  • lovely video it made me cry when i relized what song i was hearing

  • some people have hobbies that are awesome, they have fun doing them. these trainers have this as a career, and in the time they perform, they are probably having more fun then anyone in the world, in that moment. i have only seen mediocre performances, this is spectactular.

and no, the trainers should not be shot, PETA. go attack Tyson or something, think about it, eh?

  • Please may I use some of this footage if I credit you? :)

  • gorgeous video :) where did you get all the underwater clips? xx

  • LOVE??? No. When you keep another "captive" - it's not love.

    These trainers should be shot.

What a sad shame to keep such a magnificent animal in captivity.

    Shame on you!!!

  • What a special video. This would melt even the coldest heart. . xox

  • The most dangerous predators in the ocean are orcas.

They hunt like wolves and torture sea lions for fun. haha

  • I'd rather die in the ocean, than on land.. and i'd rather be killed by an orca, than something else.. They're my world ;]

  • как это красиво.

  • they remind me exactly of a dog. They seem to love playing, and more than that, they seem to love and need affection and attention. I find it hard to see how they can be described as being abused or mistreated. I do think they should be left in the wild with their natural family, though. Perhaps it would be possible to train a wild orca to visit a dock area to interact with people. It probably would not be as eager a companion, since it would have other options for companionship.

  • you have AMAZING footage! can i use some i will credit you!

  • Very beautiful video. :) Oh, does anyone know, how you become an orcatrainer?

  • this is what i'm training for! all of this 'anti-captivity' crap is actually doing more harm than good. most people will never see these amazing animals outside of captivity. there they can learn about them and be motivated to help them. and that 'they need to be in the wild'? most of these animals have been born and raised in captivity and would have as much chance of surviving in the wild as your pet dog. awesome video too!!!!! :)

  • @gothgrl63 You are absolutly right. Just my words. ;)

  • @gothgrl63 are you stupid? why would you want to see an animal like this in a tank? and most of them actually HAVENT been born and raised in captivity they've been taken from the wild :)

  • @brenezra yor are the stupid one. do your research. most HAVE been born in captivity now. and u just joined today? try finding some peta stuff. you'd fit right in

  • @gothgrl63 HAHA. how does it benefit whales or dolphins to be doing stuff like this..maybe you should do your research and realise that when theyre in captivity they dont even live past their teens usually, and in the wild they can live up to be 80 years old. good luck with being a trainer, if the whales are lucky theyll kill u like they killed that trainer at seaworld. OH NOOOOO! :(:(:(:(:(:(

  • @brenezra and again, find some peta freaks.

  • @gothgrl63 ahahahhahahahahaha....cause this is exactly what peta does.

you're so dumb please stop talking to me

  • Comment removed

  • @gothgrl63 How is it doing more harm than good? When people spread the information about how badly these orcas have in their tiny tanks, where infections, boredom and stress are normal every day nuisance? You can learn about these animals, through internet, and documentaries, where the information is gathered from free orcas not from captive, depressed individuals that don't even live up to their life expectancy.

People can go see them in the wild, if they really want to!

  • Yeah, amazing bond allright...but when they attack...GOOD LUCK!

  • @MsOzzy20

most of the attacks are from the bulls anyway

  • @horsesrules1001 Lol that's a false statement . Most Intentional attacks are done by the females , preferrably the older adults that know exactly what they are doing and have motive . Waterworks is done with more cows than bulls , and just like ladies, females orcas get moody sometimes too . .

  • @MsOzzy20 lol

  • @darionwilliam - wonderful? -- do you like freedom? if you do.. don't you wish orcas should have the same privilege>??

  • @MsOzzy20 Get some information about what your talking about, thanks.

  • Please can I have some of this footage for a video if I credit you?

  • All of you that assume that the orcas in captivity are poor little sad beings that dream of being in the ocean far away outside these sad walls of the horrible land of Sea World are obviously ignorant and have not done any background research on the subject before you made your rash assumptions. If they decided to set these whales free they would die within a year? Whales in captivity live almost three times longer than whales in the ocean?

  • @sydneymedlin and where did you get that information that whales in captivity live almost three times longer than whales in the ocean? Bottlenose dolphins in some aquariums are known to have exceeded the life expectancy of the ones in the wild but note, this isn't the case on even half of the captive dolphins. Many of them live in poor conditions.

Orcas on the other hand live barely up to their teens in captivity. Whereas in the wild they can reach the age of 80. There's quite a huge difference.

  • love them with all my heart but they belong free not like this...

i would never buy a ticket thats for sure

  • This is sweet

but its only the happy side of what really goes on!

  • These creatures are exploited and condemn them to a life of misery and loneliness. Everyone who visits these types of places has blood on their hands. see how the vast majority of the dolphins and orcas are captured and listen to their cries...

Search "The Cove Runs Red" on you tube also on You tube search

"Dolphin shows linked to dolphin killers!"

    search on youtube

    "Orca Pod Destroyed In Japan"

when you grow up strive to make the world a better place through awareness not ignorance

  • @holidayfor4 Sorry, that should be "Investigation of The Cove Part 1"

  • whats the name of the song ?

  • @xparb Hero by Enrique Iglesia

  • Training orcas is my dream if i had the chance i would do it ! i have loved orcas since i was a little kid and ive always had a dream to work with these beutiful animals so if u have a chance take it !

  • @TheIloveanimals12345

this...this is my one career goal in life

  • Comment removed

  • no.

  • @icewatercube What happened in February was a tragic accident. Even the trainers and all the fans know that it was not deliberate. Dawn's hair floating past Tili could have made him react that way, or it could just have been a miscommunication. The trainers don't hold it against him, they still talk about him and Dawn without sadness. They know he wouldn't do that. I've met the trainers, and the thing about him being gentle is from them. They know best, after all, about their characters.

  • @missnoodles996 I hope you've gotten new information about this by now, but that ''ponytail'' theory has been long a go debunked. And eyewitnesses saw Tilikum grab her by the arm.

  • @icewatercube It would be fine! Tilikum is actually a very gentle whale and never usually agressive.

  • Oh, and I love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love orcas. They are the most amazing animals on the hole planet.

  • It is such a beautyful movie. I love it, and I love the song. :)

  • I'm sitting here with my 7 year old step daughter and we're nearly in tears with her joy of these beautiful animals. She is absolutely smitten with Orca.

  • is 1.28 orkid or corky?

  • @fica400 Corky. =)

  • ive always wanted to do this but they dont pay good an i was hoping for a future different than what i have today cuz im poor:/

  • Hi, I was wondering if I could use the clips from this video on a video i am making for someone about Orcas? I would give you credit for the clips of course? x

  • That's what i wanna do when i grow up :D

  • @Kelsey0says0rawr Why don't you aspire to become a Marine Biologist and study them in THEIR habitat. Everything we've learned about them comes from studying them in the wild...not in a tank/prison. I can only pray that there comes a day when people will want to help them rather than imprison them. Go to college, Kelsey, get a degree in Marine Biology! Learn to scuba dive and dive with the creatures of the sea in their home. There's magical thngs out there for you...embrace them!

  • @LabsR1st That was actually my plan...I love sea animals.

    But thanks for the speech?

  • Did you know that if you pay to see dolphins in captivity you could be contributing to dolphin slaughter? Slaughtered and captive dolphins come from the same people. The ones they don't kill, they sell. :(

"Upwards of 2,400 dolphins are captured or killed each year in the cove in Taiji, but more than 20,000 dolphins are killed in Japan annually, according to Psihoyo"

  • @aubreyda The slaughters in Taiji are terrible. However, no marine parks in the US have dolphins from there and they work to stop it by donating millions to different charities across the world. The dolphins from Taiji go to parks in Asia.

  • @missnoodles996

seaworld pay the taiji fishermen to provide them with the reproductive organs of the dolphins that the fishermen have killed. Seaworld refuse to say why. There are many articles about it, just do a quick google search.

also US marine parks pay other parks in asia to 'hold' dolphin for a few months or years then bring them to america. They do support the taiji trade behind the scenes.

  • @elfwhitewave I have never heard anything about the reproductive organs, so I don't want to comment on it knowing nothing.

I do know that there are NO DOLPHINS FROM TAIJI in the USA. It's against the law for one, and SeaWorld are against anything whether you believe so or not. If you can find their facebook channel or look through my favourites there is a video called "Investigation of The Cove" It's quite informative so watch it if you have time.

  • @missnoodles996 but there are still wild caught dolphins all over the US (all the dolphins currently with lolita are all wild caught)

wild caught is still bad and stressfull wieither from taiji or not.

im just saying marine parks have ways of getting around laws and SW have a history of being secretive.

actually i dont like the cove movie as its pushed the fishermen out to sea pens where they are now unregulated, that movie made things worse despite its good intentions.

  • @missnoodles996

Miami Sea Aquarium has dolphins from taiji.

their permits for the capture and sale of the dolphins have been found by the free lolita group.

  • @elfwhitewave Well, it's illegal, if they have. Another reson to shut that place down and get Lolita and those dolphins with her to at least another bigger park. I would support you with that!

  • It amazing how they taim this beast it's not in there nature to play games withe humans they should of let it back it the wild befor it snaps an act some one

  • i thought that this was amazing!!!!

  • Things like this give me goosebumps, I think it's beautiful.

  • ok people, trainers know the ricks of becoming a trainers so quiet down! and orcas are wild animals; so if something happens its not a huge surprise. orcas can attack if they are irritated, or want to play; there for of play is not the same as humans. yes they are in a tank but they are not hurt. also, if there were no orcas in captivity how would we know how to help them out int he wild if we dont know the patterns or animal itself? think about these things....

  • @e11fan417 exactly!! some people are so stupid! and i hate how the trainers arent allowed to get in the water its like its their lives they should be the ones to decide to get in the water or not!

  • @shamuroxy Perhaps they aren't allowed into the water because they don't keep the trainers and the masses informed about all the risks of the job? They try everything to hide all the hundreds of incidents so that the good image of these places remains. Some trainers go there thinking that it's perfectly safe when it is not.

  • @Natheyja um... the trainers aren't informed about the risks of the job? Anyone with common sense would be able to know the risks of the job! You're getting in the water with the top predator of the ocean obviously they are going to be a little rough sometimes and you could get injured or killed. Regardless it's the trainers' and only the trainers' lives being put at risk it should be solely their decision. And trainers that think it's perfectly safe have got to be some pretty ignorant people...

  • @shamuroxy SW for example hasn't let their workers know about the numerous incidents that have happened previously. There are a few old trainers who have brought this up. And it comes the work places problem when they put their workers at risk for example when they have close contact with Tilikum (breeding stud). The trainers shouldn't have been in the tank with Tilikum after the incidents he was involved in. How could Dawn have died if she wouldn't have been in close contact with him?

  • @Natheyja The trainers were never in the tank with Tilikum, they never did water works with him because of his past... And again obviously there are risks to working with ANY animal, heck there is risk in driving your car. Sure Dawn may have not been killed if she had never become a trainer and worked with orcas, but that was her DREAM she died doing what she loved. I still think it should be the TRAINERS decision on whether or not they want to get back in the water.

  • @shamuroxy Sure trainers should get to decide on it, why not. If they're fully aware of the risks and are still smart enough to jump in the pool with them. I'd rather go swimming with wild orcas.

But how many people do you think believe orcas to be dangerous creatures now after these attacks, only based on these attacks? It's not really improving their image now is it? And SW is supposed to have educational value after all.

  • @Natheyja well I mean they kinda are... They are the top predator of the ocean after all, have you seen them eat sea lions before? And may I remind you that before orcas were put in captivity EVERYONE hated them and thought they were mindless killing machines and were afraid of them (kinda like what people think of sharks now), captivity helped people see that these animals are different than they originally thought. So in the grand scheme of things SW has improved their image greatly.

  • @shamuroxy Sure they have. People used to be scared of them. Sharks have been held captive in aquariums too but that hasn't really increased their image, now how's that? People would have recognized how orcas truly are sooner or later, even without places like SW. Orcas have never killed a human in wild, even though there have been hundreds of close encounters. They're gentle creatures not to mention there are differences between orcas, there are fish eaters and ones that feed on other mammals.

  • @shamuroxy And since the trainers weren't allowed in the tank with Tilikum, but being on the slideout was allowed (like Dawn was before Tilikum grabbed her by the arm and pulled her in the pool itself). SW is supposed to be responsible for their workers safety, yet there has been numerous times when trainers are lying right in front of Tilikum on the slideout. It's sad what happened to Dawn, it really is. She died doing what she loved, which is admirable. But would you want to be there to ...

  • @shamuroxy witness another attack that will probably happen sooner or later. Would you want dozens of children to be there to see it? I wouldn't. :/

This is among other reasons why SW needs to take care this will never happen again.

  • @Natheyja They are informed. There's about 30-50 pages of paper work and contract signing you do before getting a job like this. Even the people who just take care of the animals and don't actually train them are aware. Not to mention that the trainers are Marine Biologists with degrees, so they went through plenty of education before getting the job. Many careers are extremely dangerous but people do them anyway because it's what they love. (Astronauts, Zoo keepers, Police Officer etc.)

  • amazing bond? for how long? You mean eaten or killed by whales? free those whales you sucker.

  • wer orcas in freier wildbahn sah, weiß dass sie NICHT in ein Becken gehören...
