  • Wow these documentary are really good. maybe I'll see them on IFC or Sundance someday. Can't wait to see some more documentary.

Oh yeah I guess my one word is optimistic.

  • one word : here

  • "Trustworthy"...wow, you've made me think about things....awesome.

  • shy and silent

  • it's hard to describe yourself with one word. humans look simple in their daily life. however, they are very complex in their thought process and how they deal with each other and events. Most times we do not represent ourselves truely. other times people gpt us right. we have sometimes images of ourselves that are different from what others think of us. nice work anyway.

  • Gentleman

  • It is good. I think you should balance out how many men and women in the video. Maybe have a set goal, 50 men, 50 women.

  • this is amazing! i think that this was very entertaining and interesting to hear what others think of themselves. i would said that i am an optimistic pessimist.

  • Thank you

Video responses to any of the questions are always welcome too.

  • Dreamer

  • i really liked it. Awesome job dude. If it was possible i would give you more then 5 stars. :)

    -brittany

  • A lot of girls on or next to a bed in this vid. ;P

    My phrase: Hyper attentive.

  • Quixotic.

  • I LOOOOVE the girl who said, "pleasant" i felt she was the most accurate with her actions to her word.

  • i love u jon! this video is so empowering!

  • Thanks Jesse :)

  • Tired!

  • worthless

  • "I have to say I'm a bad motherfucker" ... oh boy, this "glimpse" is truely original :-)

  • Broken

  • that's so funny i seriously would of said AWESOME!

  • i would say i am

Away Laughing On A Fast Camel

    lmao

  • I would have to say I'm

    "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"

    kiss,

    ~*~Sarah~*~

  • HAHA

I just thought a bit about how I would describe myself and then *burp* xD

  • mine would have been "oyster". because i am one.

  • alive, curious, and optimistic are my favorites! great clip!

  • misunderstood lol

  • i think "awosome" is the wonderful word...haha

  • OIF

(they who do not know will laugh and may not even know what it stands for ,those who have experienced it in one way or another will know exactly what I'm talking about.)

  • JP from PDX: As a fellow vet, yeah. And you're totally right. And it's strange - I was supposed to work some random job after college, and what would have defined me was what I had in my bank account. After the deployment...OIF describes me perfectly. Even now that I'm out, it still does. Thus, my high-and-tight haircut despite being a rock star and all that. Nobody else can really know but us.

  • Great stuff! I like this style of film alot. so many different people in the world!

  • Awesome clip! I was left wanting more.

and oh yeah... I'm an adventurous loner.

  • Mine would have to be "creative".

  • Hey Castaa, what's YOUR word or phrase? :)

  • At the end of the series, I'll personally answer all the questions. So will Meegan I imagine.

  • Terrified too.

    And head over heels.

  • (hi hairy)

  • One word: Ineffable.

  • both the light and the dark.

  • Really nicely put to gether :) Very creative as well. This should be featured.

  • this is cool. can't wait to see more. :D

  • I liked ~ helpful & optimistic and a broken mirror ~ nothing else felt origional. Nice work.

  • This seems like an easy way to get featured. Great job none the less.

  • It's quite hard to get featured. Who knows what their criteria are for selection. A dartboard? :) Thanks.

  • hey what song is that?

  • Doobie Brothers - Listen To The Music, 1972

  • My phrase is: I have successfully adjusted my standards to conform with my capabilities.

  • up or down?

  • What a wonderful array of responses to this question!

(I especially liked the girl surrounded by flowers who said "pleasant" while birds chirped in the background.)

    A very cool compilation.

  • Thank you Sophie. That means a lot.

  • hey this turned out great. Awesome job!

  • Thanks wayman29.

  • This is such a wonderful video of everyones responses. I can't wait to see the rest of the interviews!

  • Thanks Laura. I plan on putting up a new GLIMPSE installment every week for the next 2 or 3 months. Each posing a different question related to self-image or beauty.

  • Interesting!

  • im really excited to see the rest :]

  • Hey its true what they say, if you stand in the mall long enough you'll bump into everyone! Hi Molly!

  • Contradictory

  • Funny how seemingly everyone's word is different. I didn't expect that going into it.

  • A lot of the ones in the video were the same

  • Interesting to watch, thanks Jon!

  • Thanks Kenny. Maybe it'll be blog worthy at some point? :)

  • Jon,

The audio is a little low. If you could increase it and possibly normalize it, that would be great!

  • Thanks. I tried but I really don't have the proper sound tools to do much at all.

  • Good job!

  • coool

  • Thanks shark!

  • o0o good job Jon... it's awesome to hear things from so many different people. Looking forward to seeing more. :)

  • Thanks again Clare. Yours was one of my favorites.

  • lol well thanks. I wasn't great at narrowing down my answers though. ;_; you probably have so much footage.

  • great...well I guess you want a video response now, huh...

  • Don't get me started with you.

  • That film was brilliant and amazing. I loved it. Great work!

  • Thank you. More to come.

  • It's really funny to see all these different faces...if I'm limited to one word it's "thoughtful"--and all the definitions of that word...

  • That's a good word to be.

  • you have a very broad interpretation of a documentary (you wrote: [about this vid:]"a documentary"). Because since around 1900 documentaries include story-telling, an introduction and a conclusion.

But the answers of the ppl were very interesting, sometimes shocking (broken mirror...) :-o

  • I'm taking a class on the literary documentary at the moment and you're right--documentary is absolutely about a narrative. But all we've seen is 4 minutes of footage--I do think this footage could be used in a narrative way...

  • I don't think narrative is a defining component.

"creative treatment of actuality" is what documentary film making is about in my view and others.

  • I'd argue that humans are inherently narrative seeking--we want to know why things matter. Even if you don't intend to build a narrative, your editing and ordering choices will probably tell some implicit story. :)

  • I've found that ordering interviews in terms of topic makes it feel redundant or cliché. At least I found this to true for the meaning of life doc. The next videos might have more of theme due to the nature of the up coming questions.

  • A Sweet Funny-ish Dork

  • funny-ish should be a word.

  • jon great video

    from dmysticman

  • Thanks dmystic! More to come.

  • Hopeless Romantic- with more emphasis on hopeless I think ;)

  • You are so emo. ;)

  • hahaha... I try to avoid it... at least I dont have a diary ;)

  • i would be "hope" but it might change at any momment, lol

It was cool, i like the word "evolving" that guy is cool.

    5/5

    peace be in your journey

  • Thank you keyblade.

  • cool video -- one was really funny.. and i don't know if i understood what the guy said but i think he said "a beautiful hotness"

    lol

  • He did.

    Thanks. :)

  • What the hell was mememmolly trying to say?? And what's the cut off date between Gen X and Gen Y? Ah.. Winona Ryder... gotta love her.

  • There is no official date. Some say 1981 is the boundary for Gen X & Y.

  • So if you were born after 1981 you are no longer Gen X or Y; or, if you were born after 1981 you are Gen Y but not Gen X? I was born 1980 and I always felt Gen X was made up of the slightly older kids. But maybe I just wasn't hip enough to be in the 'in' crowd. Which made me cool, I guess. Or not. I forget how it went.

  • Magnificent. Said three times in a row.

  • As long as it's not 'beatlejuice'. We know how that turned out. :)

  • Oh! My answer would be: "Indescribable in one word or phrase." ;)

  • I'd buy that.
