it's hard to describe yourself with one word. humans look simple in their daily life. however, they are very complex in their thought process and how they deal with each other and events. Most times we do not represent ourselves truely. other times people gpt us right. we have sometimes images of ourselves that are different from what others think of us. nice work anyway.
this is amazing! i think that this was very entertaining and interesting to hear what others think of themselves. i would said that i am an optimistic pessimist.
(they who do not know will laugh and may not even know what it stands for ,those who have experienced it in one way or another will know exactly what I'm talking about.)
JP from PDX: As a fellow vet, yeah. And you're totally right. And it's strange - I was supposed to work some random job after college, and what would have defined me was what I had in my bank account. After the deployment...OIF describes me perfectly. Even now that I'm out, it still does. Thus, my high-and-tight haircut despite being a rock star and all that. Nobody else can really know but us.
Thanks Laura. I plan on putting up a new GLIMPSE installment every week for the next 2 or 3 months. Each posing a different question related to self-image or beauty.
you have a very broad interpretation of a documentary (you wrote: [about this vid:]"a documentary"). Because since around 1900 documentaries include story-telling, an introduction and a conclusion.
But the answers of the ppl were very interesting, sometimes shocking (broken mirror...) :-o
I'm taking a class on the literary documentary at the moment and you're right--documentary is absolutely about a narrative. But all we've seen is 4 minutes of footage--I do think this footage could be used in a narrative way...
I'd argue that humans are inherently narrative seeking--we want to know why things matter. Even if you don't intend to build a narrative, your editing and ordering choices will probably tell some implicit story. :)
I've found that ordering interviews in terms of topic makes it feel redundant or cliché. At least I found this to true for the meaning of life doc. The next videos might have more of theme due to the nature of the up coming questions.
So if you were born after 1981 you are no longer Gen X or Y; or, if you were born after 1981 you are Gen Y but not Gen X? I was born 1980 and I always felt Gen X was made up of the slightly older kids. But maybe I just wasn't hip enough to be in the 'in' crowd. Which made me cool, I guess. Or not. I forget how it went.
Wow these documentary are really good. maybe I'll see them on IFC or Sundance someday. Can't wait to see some more documentary.
Oh yeah I guess my one word is optimistic.

It is good. I think you should balance out how many men and women in the video. Maybe have a set goal, 50 men, 50 women.

I don't think narrative is a defining component.
"creative treatment of actuality" is what documentary film making is about in my view and others.

What the hell was mememmolly trying to say?? And what's the cut off date between Gen X and Gen Y? Ah.. Winona Ryder... gotta love her.

There is no official date. Some say 1981 is the boundary for Gen X & Y.

So if you were born after 1981 you are no longer Gen X or Y; or, if you were born after 1981 you are Gen Y but not Gen X?
