@forerunner06 Post-2009, actually (we still had shows that were coming to a close in 2009 such as ChalkZone). A writers strike formed between 2007-2008 and one of the agreements was to have kids cartoons with no adult jokes in them. This eventually led to no adult content at all, no teen content whatsoever and eventually kids cartoons...became kids cartoons. So unless you wanna be like Marty McFly and go back in time to stop the strike from happening, your not gonna get good cartoons anymore.

@Medachod Well, maybe it's me but I've seen "adult-jokes" in new shows like 'Adventure Time' for example. However, adult-jokes can only carry a series so far. My main problem with today's cartoons is that they ALL seem to follow the SpongeBob formula.

1) Sub-par graphics and animation

2) Bizarre and nonsensical plots

Nothing wrong with these types of shows, I enjoy the occasional spongebob episode. But it saddens me that kids don't get to experience something a bit more stimulating

@forerunner06 Adventure Time is rated TV-PG; they could throw in a sex joke and it wouldn't matter. I am talking about shows with a rating of TV-G and under (though even some TV-G rated shows of today can carry at least 1-2 adult jokes in them).
