  • who cares if she took it from the nest, there is no shortage of starlings, and it wont get eaten by a hawk, or shot by a kid, or.........

  • haha it even has an accent

  • Really cute bird. He speaks very well.

  • Good for you for helping this starling. I wonder how many people against owning birds have dogs or cats? Good bird owners let their pets have plenty of free flight time. I used to have starlings too and a lot of the time they chose to stay inside their cage and play with their toys when I left the door open. I'm sure most birds see cages as a safe spot and not a "prison."

  • @FrostedToasterPastry True alll the way. I leave the door open all the time for my parakeet and she flies around wherever she pleases, I just make sure to keep a close eye on her ;) lol Birds are fascinating companions!

  • hmmm... starlings... those things are actually an enemy of the state in maryland right now.

  • my cat brought in some starling chicks once i did my best to keep them alive..but there cat did a number on them..i think they would have made lovley pets

  • You people need to stop heckling this poor person about "robbing the nest". She's already announced that she did not, in fact, rob the nest, but saved him when he fell out of it, which WAS the right thing, as the bird wouldn't have survived. Besides, it's not place to talk about how she got him, you're supposed to comment on the video. Whether you enjoy the video or not is your decision, as you can communicate that by Liking or Disliking this video. Good day.

  • @SpookerstheSpoo rofl, gee, ok....Fez

  • How do you even know how they got the bird?

  • LOL "Good Moh'nen"

  • deniseyf: I dunno, I think that's a better fate for the starlings than if they were picked off with a rifle later on. Keep in mind that starlings are actively hunted by purple martin lovers, since starlings invade the nests of native birds and kill their babies.

If nirvana5656 can give those starlings a good home while keeping them out of the wild, then it's a win-win for everyone.

  • Your little boy is a beauty and so cute how he imitates you. I don't think it's legal to have one as a pet (here, in the US), but I have been quite impressed by the videos I have seen from nice people like you who do have one as a fine feathered companion. Much Love & Peace to You and Your Household! ... Angel =]

  • actually, it IS legal to have one in the U.S. In fact, mine is sitting on my head as i type this. You may keep and raise them because they are an invasive species. It IS illegal, however to own a raven or a crow unless you have permits.

  • @josbrighteststar a starling is not a raven or a crow.... so does it still make it illegal in the U.S.?

  • Actually it is totally legal to have them as pets in the US, because they are not native.

  • they're probably dead now since you robbed the freakin eggs

  • can you give me any advice on raising a starling chick?

  • You should have given more information. The starlings can talk,& humans can"t take the trouble. If I told you what the one I rescued said on the way to the rescue center, you wouldn"t believe it.What a little darling it was!

  • another reason to love the brits.

  • Lucky you! I wish I had my own fledgling starling to train.

  • I see the bird has got you trained perfectly. I expect he's even got you fetching him water and seeds. They're so smart.

  • pmsl that sounds sweet lol ++++

  • coldfresh water

Spike dosent sepnd all his time in a cage

if i hadnt rescued him when he fell from his nest he wouldnt have any life at all!

hes happy im certain of that and thats all that matters to me

  • im sure he does, I have a starling as well, and she rules the house, almost never in her cage! I love how clear he talks, how old is Spike, and how long till he talked "clear" mines starting to babble out some stuff, sometimes its words, sometimes just noise :P

  • I also have 2 starlings, they have free flight during the day and put themselves to bed in their cage at night. Mine would also have been dead if I hadnt rescued them. Life in a cage is not ideal, but you should at least ask for the facts before making derogatroy comments.

  • Sorry this is a reply to, coldfreshwaters comment, not sure why it ended up here instead lol.

  • Brilliant! He's got the accent down just perfectly! :D

  • Spike is very charming. Very clear speach! Does he mimic your Macaw as well? (I heard a Macaw in the background.)

  • imm amazed by this,is this a common starling? i never knew starlings could mimic!

  • i want to hear a spanish starling talk

  • omg he has an accent!!!! awesome!!!!

  • lol, yeah! :)

  • This was taken when he was molting I see... he sure does speak clear... nice job in teaching him you guys... great bird you have there.

  • Wow! Your starling has a British accent! Too cool!

  • Gotta love the British accent bird!!!

  • He's awesome! --How old is Spike? I have a pet starling too. He can't speak, but his adult plumage is growing in now and he can make smoochy sounds :)
