i would give ten years of my life to hang out with George a few days back in the day... i heard one tale George was drunk and got into an argument before a show in Denver one night. what does George do lolololol he has a cab take him all the way back to his home in Georgia at the time drunk the whole ride home ..... honesty from a singer/celebrity!!! these days their agents & publicists would do anything to cover up or atleast play down the problems. George's generation (musically the best) could well be the last to tell us the truth. maybe thats why their music was so good & will live on forever, they sing from the heart about their trials & tribulations.
LMFAO Waylon Jennings telling someone to straighten up
They're both wrong when they say that they're not going to live forever though... Waylon's body may be gone but Waylon will never die, same with George.

hey George, been there myself, as so many others have been. At the time, you DO think ur "OK", but not. And that might teach some of the SO CALLED "contry music singers" today the true meaning of good ole country music like what George,Johnny, all Hanks,Porter,Buck,Merle, and so many more made, i think you get the point. I dont know bout you but thumbs up for THE KING.

Oh, great, another hard livin', wife-beatin', god fearin', redneck who cleans up his act and finds christ. How original. Jones was more interesting on the sauce anyway. Anyone who's capable of sporting a hairstyle like that for the past fifty yrs has to have a screw loose somewhere. Waylon, Kristofferson and Cash are the only three from that whole era that matter to me
George jones is a human being. He just happens to sing some of the greatest music ever. If he had not been through what he had been maybe that would be different. No matter what he is still one of the only singers I'll pay to see in concert. Him and Charley Pride.
my daughter took the greydog to CALGARY AB to see him sing. I saw him in Vernon a few years ago. We were both impressed with his voice and his commitment to putting on a good show. As for his drinking days , I bet he wishes that he"d given it up a lot sooner. Drunks are not pretty creatures.
George Jones is the best and will always be the best damn country music singer a round. I still listen to him sing everyday and he has inspired me to write songs and I look up to him and all hes been through has made the man you see today and it may have been a long road but he kept us with him a long the way. The awesome possum GEORGE JONES
I just went to the 2010 George Jones Fan Club Party in Brentwood Tennessee this past Thursday, June 10th. I got an autograph and Nancy used my camera to take the picture. He was so gracious. What a man and what a life. I know he has aged but I will continue to go see him whenever I can and will always treasure getting to meet him. From the Hoosier State, God Bless you George and Nancy!
The past can make you stronger but it can also keep some down, I chose to learn from the past but go on, its no good to dwell, the main thing is George survived for himself, his family, and his fans. I thank goodness he and his daughter Georgette have got a good relationship now.
Who here would like to have a video on Youtube of their lowest moment? Jesus forgives him, the people he hurt forgive him, so nobody else has the right to hold his past against him.
sorry to say this this video should go away. Its over said and done, the past. I told George to quit punishing himself. us fan's need to let his past go. nancy tells him too but it don't do no good. fans time to petition George to let his past go and live for tomrrow. the past does no good.
I couldn't agree more. The more you focus on the past, the more likely you are to repeat it. Once you have taken responsibility for your actions and repented, you move on.
@davidgmetoo These hard times that George went through and lived is part of what makes George Jones who he is..Like Waylon said they counted him out ten thousand times and he kept coming back!!and I think George should be a role model to all addicts or people who are down look at the obstacles hes overcame and the heights hes been to in his life..George is the real article he don't think hes better and he wasn't given an easy way but he loves to sing and thats why hes out there at near 80 yr old
@davidgmetoo I know excactly what you mean. I've been a George Jones fan all my life and didnt know about his abuse. But I love him even more now after reading his book and seeing this. He is honest and a good person. Perhaps this could help somebody.
the HIghwaymen have clairvoyance to do whatever they want at any point in time. past, present or future. It is a few people who are given the gift of such beauty. to withstand the burden must be something. They were forgiven before they were born. And God Bless me if i see them in the after-life!
@roscogruen but George is not a Highwayman. Well... he do lives on the highway now ad then, but he was never in the group the highwaymen. It was Willie, Waylon, Kris and Johnny.
Read Tammy Wynette's autobiography Stand By Your Man if you want the real dope on George. Find out how many times he destroyed and levelled their house with a bulldozer whilst under the influence of Satan's spittle. That woman should be canonised.
@doobiesmoke15 That's funny, I've wanted to see that myself. Apparently Dee-Doodle came out on some radio show he and Waylon were on. Wish I had a copy.
@graylyns As someone on TV once said if you do moonshine and cocaine it will make you into an animal, and not necessarily a cool animal like a wolf or a gorilla. You might become a duck!
George I have played CM for years not to your achievements but I had similiar bouts with the booze and drugs..No one can get thru to you until you are almost dead or almost homeless.I'm so glad I grew up with your music and seeing you at different times..Thanks for the Memories and no matter what I still will play your songs..Take care
George Jones is a BMF. Everyone mellows with age. He hung tough for a long time. Now he's aged and mellowed, they all do, if they don't die first. He should have stomped that camera and bitch slapped the camera man, what did he have to lose anyway. Sure glad he's still with us! Thanks for the post, although it's a little defamatory. How does anyone know he was "coked up"?
I guess you were there with him when this went down and you know exactly what he was under the influence of. I'm just saying whether he was, or wasn't, maybe he did, maybe he didn't, without any proof you have nothing! Anything else is just hearsay, or an allegation . No need in stating either of the two as "fact"
his career went downhill when he/ his managers tried to feed off this whole "I'm an irresponsible drunk who misses my ex wife gig". Although not too far from the truth they sure did hype alot of it up to sell records.
That arrest was a set up. The camera just happened to be there? Yeah right. I don't blame possum for getting po'd about it. He should have stomped that camera guy.
I love George's autobiography "I Lived to Tell It All". I knew he was bad off for a long time, but I had no idea how bad he was. There's a reason the book has that title, because it's a miracle he survived it. Many have died from much less.
George is a true country music legend. These so called "country" musicians of today are a joke. George, Waylon, Johnny, etc. lived the life they sang about. Today's "country" musicians wouldn't last an hour in George's shoes back in the day.
lol ' i got into drugs then i relly got into bad shape'. greatest country singer ever love you george. i would quite my job and sell my house to go drinking one night with jones to see if i could hang.
"The whole neighborhood knows Jones is home drunk again." George is the VOICE of country music and thank God he found Nancy and finally sobered up. Read his book "I lived to tell it all." It's amazing what he went through.
It's sad to observe the GREAT George Jones like this but he's still the GREATEST Country Singer that has ever lived as far as I am concerned. I saw him perform here in Toronto CANADA last April 8th and he put on an INCREDIBLE Show. it was one of the BEST evenings of my life!!! LONG LIVE GEORGE !!!
How sweet it is to be able to communicate with everybody through CyberSpace. I thought you'd like to hear about my new latest project. I'm so excited. 40 Years of The Voice. My how time flies... You are the reason we do what I do and for that I thank you. Feel free to drop by my page and show some love. Special thanks to the owner of this page for keeping the music flowing 'specialy my "Pal" George. Vern
I remember seeing this arrest. It was on the 6 o'clock news (the camera crew at the scene was from the local news), and I was watching with my grandmother, a huge Jones fan.
The one and only... first time I saw George , I was 10 yrs old... that was a long time ago... I'm talking distance and yrs. See him now folks... while you can... he is the best.
It seems like most all of the really great artists have some kind of drug/booze problem, and I think it's because the sensitivity it takes to be a great artist, makes them reach out to a substance that can numb them to the harsh reality of the world. I LOVE GJ, and I only wish he'd been able to get off the stuff when he was still with Tammy, who is one of my IDOLS. RIP, GJ & TW. XXXOOO
erma--he has to be honest to stay well.......I only wish Elvis could have overome like George and Johnny did, but then he didnt have the woman in his life that they had.........
theres a vince gill video where at the end his wife takes his keys "but she forgot about (his) old john deere" and he passes george jones on his lawnmower in the street. good stuff!
George Jones is a legend..he always will be..I love George Jones he is my favorite country singer of all time I saw him in Bristol TN about 2 yrs ago for my 16th birthday I got a pic with him..I love him..he's 76 years old and still touring..We love you George!!

That arrest was a set up. The camera just happened to be there? Yeah right. I don't blame possum for getting po'd about it. He should have stomped that camera guy.

Does anyone know the title of the song George Jones sang with Dolly Parton in or around 2006-2007? It is a song about his life struggles. Thanks.

"The whole neighborhood knows Jones is home drunk again." George is the VOICE of country music and thank God he found Nancy and finally sobered up. Read his book "I lived to tell it all." It's amazing what he went through.

XXXOOO

I read in his biography that his wife took his car keys so he couldn't drive to buy more booze.
So what does he do? He takes his lawnmower and drives it along the highway to the liquor store!
Classic story.
keef186 4 years ago 5
theres a vince gill video where at the end his wife takes his keys "but she forgot about (his) old john deere" and he passes george jones on his lawnmower in the street. good stuff!
