This was a German festival. The festival was free entry and the entrance to the festival was through a tunnel. Basically what happened is many thousands more people came than they had expected, they all got crammed into the claustrophobic tunnel and people started panicking. And the panic caused everyone to charge everywhere and people got trampled and stuff. That's what I recall happening not sure if its exactly right.. but yeah.

RIP it was a human tragedy. The organizer did not heard about the warnings of the police and and other people about tunnel as the only way. The are was also to small for all the people and you needed over 2 ours to get access to the area. I was many times during the 90´s to 2000 in Berlin at the Love Parade it was the best Place for such a big Event and nobody died and it was a great time. The organizer in Dusiburg wanted only make the fast money warnings does not matter.

Conclusion: Today's Germans are overwhelmingly good, gentle people. Other nations have committed mass atrocities & ethnic cleansing besides Germany: The USA, Argentina, many African nations, Japan, Italy, the USSR, China, etc. Example: Maoist Commie gov in China responsible for about 30 million deaths in late 1950's--of their own people.

The loveparade always was a friendly party, "love" was the tenor, strange people have danced together and celebrated life. It's very horrible what happened and I am so shocked!! A friend was there, she's fine and I'm so so so happy about this!

This is very sad tragedy, and as i watchin' the videos, my eyes are filling with tears.

@onmynyshit : Well, if you knew some more of the facts, perhaps you would understand. If you have ever gone to a big concert, and feel people pressing down on you, you get a vague idea of how it must have been at Duisberg. Multiply it by 1000. People were so badly crushed in the masses they couldn't get oxygen. And for the how and why - that has to be found out yet. obviously it was badly organized and there were too many people. but panic broke out when people fell off structures onto the crowd

RIP it was a human tragedy. The organizer did not heard about the warnings of the police and and other people about tunnel as the only way. The are was also to small for all the people and you needed over 2 ours to get access to the area. I was many times during the 90´s to 2000 in Berlin at the Love Parade it was the best Place for such a big Event and nobody died and it was a great time. The organizer in Dusiburg wanted only make the fast money warnings does not matter.

@itsDaish In such Situation in a Tunnel were you arent able to move, such a behavior is sadly normal. Such conditions to lead a crowd of people to panic studies to prove this and behaviourist spoke about this tragedy confirmed it.

Wrong... the place where it was planned to take place was big enough for 250.000 - 300.000 people.
But over 1.2 Millions showed up! And that's an organisation, police and politics failure.
And the people didn't run over each other the most died by being crushed to death while standing. There was no room to fall down.
