LMFAOOO i was there that night, and truthullt the best part was NOT the nathan philips square part (that show usually sucks cuz america takes all of canadas best artists) but the best part is AFTER the show, when the streets are CROWDED with ppl and theres like nno cars and ppl was walking on the street, just FLOODS of ppl, thats the specticle :P

@VS257 Umm dude, actually I have been to both new years in Sydney and Toronto (live in toronto).. Sydney is Way better and their subways and transportion systems are 100x better then torontos.. Toronto as much as I love it.. It's just a dull ass town.. Sydney is the bees knees. go travel.

Good footage-thanks for posting. I was there visiting from Boston.I've been there before at new years eve-it was a very large crowd no doubt due to the warmer weather.I was however originally planning to be at the big new years eve concert with the bare naked ladies. Happy New year everyone! :)

SYDNEYSIDERS have nice public transport system train, buses & ferries. I can't see any ferries in Toronto.I went Sydney to celebrate 2008 NEW YEAR I fell in love with the place. Great Buildings, Great Area. Amazing.

I would say at night even MELBOURNE is much better than Toronto.

@rodtorre7 We have lots of ferries connecting to the Toronto Islands. If you can't see them, then you must be either blind or been hiding under a rock. We Torontonians don't need fireworks to enjoy the New Year's. The best club scene is in Toronto. And Australians' nightlife sucks so they can compensate it for a much superficial event such as a fireworks display. And you buddy must have not been to Toronto's night club scene if you think the city is dull. Or you're just a dull person, period.

Anyways, wouldn't you rather have tax dollars going to more important things rather than an one day concert/fireworks display? But, the TTC DID offer free rides that night so drinkers wouldn't be driving cars that night..

I used to go there on new years till I moved , for a city of over 2 million people , I have to say the celebration looks really really weak , compared to european cities, where ppl can openly enjoy champagne on the street , and everyone is free to light off firecrackers, in toronto all you see are those ghey opp police on horses keeping everyone from having a good time .
