Not fat just very fluffy, we have the same type of cat. In fact after a bath he'll actually look quite small.

Can't get our cat to walk on the leash, outside the house he prefers just to be carried.

they say that persian cats are not very street smart and should be strictly house cats, but Shirobu dosen't seem to mind being outside at all! much less on a beach! he is a special kitty :3

That just means you should never allow them to FREE ROAM. They're too calm and trusting. Their coats also would end up a tangle of dirt and plant matter. They're very laidback cats so situations like this - on a leash with their owner - they're far less likely to get stressed than other breeds.
