If you are pro-choice you should steal from WalMart, or buy stuff just to return it and give your reason for the return is that you are not satisfied that WalMart is patriotic.
Joe Moore isn't Alderman of the area the Walmart opened up in.
Plus there have been numerous reports of people robbed in the store. So you're looking at shirts, or food, or something like that...and a guy shows up with a knife or hidden gun, demanding your wallet.
I dont really give a shit if walmarts in my city or not. to me its just a place to buy clothes and other shit like that. I dont know why people hate it so mutch and why people are disputing work wages. If they wanna work there, they can fucking work there.
Wal*Mart is evil! I like Bullshit, but they aren't telling the whole picture! Walmart has helped create MLPA zones in california, which is privatization, which PENN SHOULD BE AGAINST AS A LIBERTARIAN!
Funny how these guys claim to be honest yet never let the viewer know that the Manhattan Institute is a right-wing "think" tank that never saw a regulation they didn't want to gut or a wage they didn't like to slash.
@pasinurminen2233 It is not the political leaning of a person, an institution that matters. It is whether their claims stands up against reality.
If it is a person/institution I never heard of and have no general opinion on, I don't want other to label it for me. I want to hear what they have to say and make my own label and decide whether I want to hear from them more. Only then can one not live in a comfortable intellectual bubble.
It's like basic economics are out the window with these folks. If you don't like the store then refuse to buy from it, if the majority of people don't buy from the store it can't pay it's overhead and will eventually shut down. The fact that these Walmarts are surviving in these towns is because they are getting enough customers to make a profit. If that's the case then one must assume that it is being used by the townsfolk. Which means they want it there, or are being very hypocritical.
People are stupid, the right of capitolism is to be able to monopolise in the way Wal-Mart has successfuly done, to deny them that is to deny them the same rights any other company has. Besides if you don't like the way it's done, don't shop or work there and Wal-Mart will either improve or vanish, the fact is that people DO work there and DO like it enough to shop there, otherwise they wouldn't be making so much money.
I usually agree with most of Penn & Teller's bullshit episodes, but I'm not prepared to ever defend Walmart..My mom works for them and they treat their employees like crap and they do have shit medical coverage. They are cheap assholes that will cut all corners to fuck their employees. They have slashed their starting wages to around $7.15 or so an hour, and they keep taking more benefits away from their employees. ...So sorry, I'm not going to defend this piece of shit company
@justjulie37 Fuck yes I couldn't agree more. I have worked for them for 6 years now and I have seen them find reasons to fire disabled people, take health care from needy families, and never ever take responsibility for anything. They would tell us to get another job if we don't like it. Sadly there are no better jobs and we are forced to feed our families with the meager amount of blood money they let us have for bullshit work.
And without wal-mart, how do I pay for college? How do I pay for my car insurance? How do I put a roof over my head? What the fuck is wrong with these people?
Walmart uses it's size to get bigger and bigger. It then uses the buying power to fuck everyone else over. Walmart pays it's empolyees less to save money. But P&T are cleverly interviewing a woman who worked there, why not ask the unemployed factory worker who loss his job because of outsourcing to china. China produces about 87% of walmart products.
Wal-mart still kills small local businesses... There's no way some of these smaller business have the same buying power that walmart does, and they can then pass those savings onto customers.... Therefore smaller businesses go under....
@openmindedozzie most of the small businesses in my home town had hateful owners, who only treated their friends and family nice....and some of the cashiers in my hometown are unfriendly too.
and i've seen lots of small stores with signs at magazines of how 'this isn't a library"---though you can go into walmart and read the magazines without any hassles.
@openmindedozzie Um here some businesses went under such as that PC store that ripped me off. So good riddance. They also put under a store that would not honor its warranty on my TV. True neither would wallmart but at least I would pay less for the lack of service.
But I would not work at wallmart since they make you sing a stupid song every morning.
Al Norman or whatever the fuck his name is talked about Walmart "invading" despite the fact that the people say they don't want them in their town. Well, it's very simple: Walmart will only stay if they can make a profit, they make a profit from customers who live in that town, and if nobody wants them there, they'll leave because they make no profet b ecause nobody goes there, so if they stay, all the people are hypocrites or they do want them there.
We have a Walmart in our town. We also have 3 or 4 local grocery stores there. Walmart's doing great, and from what I've seen the other ones are doing fine. Granted Walmart will shit on shitty businesses, but if someone know's what they're doing they'll survive.

With the Wal-Mart opening in her area opened so many job opportunities for them
@hairypolack She probably wouldn't. She would probably be part-time and either wouldn't qualify for benefits or would work for a company who couldn't afford to pay her benefits.
@hairypolack Right, you are aware that in order to grant benefits retailers have to have a stable source of revenue. Small stores do not have that. 1st grade inference.
Anyone who thinks that work sucks needs to get a grip - do you think the world owns you a living? How about actually getting a good education - and college - and working towards a career you may actually enjoy or at least doesn't "suck."

anyone who works at walmart and says they deserve more money, why dont you go to fucking college and get a degree? if you dont want to put in the work to go to a college then you dont deserve anything higher than minimum wage. if you dont like your minimum wage job at walmart, quit. there is probably a person who will be glad to have a minimum wage job.
@TheNadzhater When I worked at Wal-Mart in high school my manager was a fucking trained PILOT out of work. Yeah, not everyone there is uneducated. Just people down on their luck.
@SStrongIsNeverWrong yeah and he was also the manager haha idiot. not a door greeter person. PLUS! im sure he takes what he gets from his job and doesnt bitch about the pay. You want more pay go somewhere else otherwise shut your mouth and be happy that walmart is giving you a job. 7 bucks an hour is better than nothing at all.
I worked for walmart both part time and full time. my part time job paid 8.00/hr and my full time paid 9.00/hr. I was offered health benefits for both jobs. I loved woking at walmart, they even worked with me to schedule around my school. And if you don't like the area you work in, you can go to a manager and ask if they have openings in other areas of the store and if not then they'll call up another walmart in the same area and look for a position for you there.
Yeah, I'm going to save you by taking your jobs away and forcing you into a welfare system that myself and other politicians control so that we can control your vote. These ***holes are either stupid or really are nefarious and trying to control the populace through welfare and regulations in the guise of "helping the community"
Like there where no retail jobs before Wal mart? Are you a cretin or an idiot? Wal mart is funding China just like standard oil funded hitler. War is coming inevitably and we should ban trade with china now!
@jakeolthof "Banning" trade would not only hurt our economy but would also hurt relations. The best way to diplomacy is through free-trade. Government sanctions, tariffs, and the like all harm diplomacy AND business. Great idea... Do some research.
@shanewolfe610 I am a historian and American corporations profited from trade with Hitler right up to the end of the war. In fact Ford motors won a judgement against the US for the destruction of it's factory in Dresden by allied bombing. What research have you done? Look this up: How many more million men are there in China than women? Then look for a recent study that compared sex distribution and the out break of wars since the beginning of recorded history.
The town centre in my hometown was dying, then a huge Asda (the British branch of Wal Mart) was built there. It's no longer the ghost town it used to be, and the smaller businesses around it get a lot of overflow custom. Shut up, Al.
@xtremejohnny69 Exactly, getting paid for your labor is the opposite of slavery. Also, if you don't like it, you can quit, which is also quite contradictory to the definition of slave.
I don't particularly like Walmart. It tends to be overcrowded. So, I usually don't shop there. That doesn't mean that I'm against the very existence of Walmart.
@xtremejohnny69 i think the person meant slave wages as in you cannot improve your situation with the amount of money you are making so its a big cycle because you cant save to make things better because you barely make enough to just survive.
@Selrahcthewise The term "slave wages" is misleading though. Slaves don't get paid, therefore there's no such thing as slave wages (unless you wanna take it to the extreme and claim the slave owner providing food and shelter is a wage.) You could improve your situation if you really wanted to. Start taking night classes, arrange daycare for your kids, hell now a days you can do online schooling. And with all the grants and loans for poor Americans, it's hard to have an excuse not to go.
if the people didnt want walmart it wouldnt be able to stay open cuz it wouldnt make money cuz noone would buy anything there...am i the only one that thought of this?
there are a lot of things that wal mart has done that are bad, but don't assume that everything they do is bad. Some people really need the lower prices and such that they offer.
im not against walmart in every way. i do though not like where they put their locations like currently one being built right across the street from my old high school when there is huge vacant space 9-10 blocks away from the school. other than that i like walmart
Listening to that Ass-hat in the with suit makes me want to pass out napalm doughnuts...
Here's a thought, Al Norman. How about putting a Walmart in your dying little town to HELP the citizens who are driving to nearby towns to go to work at Walmart anyway and YOU can drive an hour to buy your razor blades from a Mom & Pop drug store... you egotistical suit wearing fascist.
Note also his claim on being Walmart's #1 Enemy... self centered much? I doubt the CEO has even heard his name.
4:45 Did this guy just say that Wal-Mart making its business in someone's town is non economical? That creates jobs dip-shit. Isn't that what you wanted you dumb fuck?
the problem with walmart is they dont hire fulltime people they hire you to work..30 hours or less whatever the bottom line is so they dont have to give you health care...and they dont pay 10.50 a hour most times its less
some people seam to think the only acceptable wage is like 50$ a hour or higher. they have actually no idea of capitalism. the fuck they want? Wal mart is a food store, not a fucking super multi-national company or something. YOU SELL FOOD, WHAT KIND OF SALARY THEY THINK YOU CAN GET WITH THAT?
Ok Latoya got a job for 8.50 an hour but at what expense? How many small businesses were shut down for this to happen? How much government subsidies were given to support Walmart that other businesses would never receive? It is crony capitalism
How come is it that every jiveass motherfucker who says "our community doesnt need jobs like these these jobs are bad" are always some rich fucking idiot?
@WhitePureTrue They can't afford a candy today because the government and their bank friends (via FED, an officialized cartel) screwed with their savings and still screwing taxing... Just the state can creat this crises. Even if America wasn't in economic troubles and people still unable to afford their bills or school for their children, nobody has the right force anybody to pay for that. If you wanna save the world do it for yourself.
Walmart is just bad, whoever says is good, stop pretending you know shit, For all I know, you are a total, complete, useless, dumb player on any latest computer games.
i am against the so called "slave wages" jobs but the biggest problem we have in the states are the "unions" and it representatives want to drain as much money from the corporation with the mentallity that "theres more from where that came from"... forcing companies to pay $15-$20+ per hour plus beneficts. i mean thars abusive and thats why more companies move it operations out of the states, directly to china...
Actually, those are jobs that don't require skill or a college education.
@Adrizz5447 You obviously don't know anything about economics. ALL BUSINESSES with low skilled workers use the low-wage, low benefit model of employment, otherwise McDonald's would have to pay the fry-cook $20 an hour. Try and understand, unskilled work = low wages. People who believe wal-mart employees should make big $, are responsible for the outsourcing of labor.
This show is Bullsh**! Penn's hometown loses their local mom & pop shops because they're surrounded by Wal-Mart and Penn's solution is to build another f-ing Wal-Mart. Apparently to make sure ALL the local business is completely gone. That's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. Either Penn doesn't understand the problem or he's just ignoring everyone's complaints so he can swear at someone he doesn't like.
@gabriel38g : Hey dipshit. If the small byusinesses provided a service that people wanted to support over that of WalMart, Wal Mart wouldn't exist. You have a problem with freedom of choice you dope? It's called competition. Everybody wins but only if they are intelligent. Clearly, though, you are not.
@gabriel38g Do we should destroy distant Wal Marts as well, because their proximity might hurt small towns around them? What if the people who use surrounding Wal Marts really like them? That doesn't justify their existence? Or should we just enforce the demands of small towns, regardless of who gets affected otherwise? How about facing that small, local business can't cut it anymore in the face of companies like Wal Mart? How does forcing everyone to maintain out-dated business methods help?
"I pay low wages. I can take advantage of that. We're going to be successful, but the basis is a very low-wage, low-benefit model of employment. " from the horses mouth! Sam Walton himself! Argue that!
The thing is, I think these guys passing laws that would make places like walmart pay employees the equivalent of $13/hr have the best intentions. But, really, when you raise wage requirements like that, you cause unemployment. It's really simple economics.
not a WM fan or hater... but their are better arguments against them then were shown here. It is well documented WM will lose money on some products (like pharma) until after the local competition has closed- then prices jump back up to profitable levels. They also bully suppliers and vendors- you sell to WM at the price they demand on every product (lose money if you have to) or you get nothing in any WM anywhere. Sure- just leveraging their market dominance, as in "an offer you can't refuse
Slave wages? Go fuck yourself i used to work at kfc for 7.25 i had a shit job and wished it payed better it wasent a fuck slave wage! Go make nikes for 7€ a week you fuck rich prick
The guy with the grey hair is an idiot. People are leaving Greenfield to shop elsewhere, so money is leaving Greenfield and their downtown area is in bad shap economically.
Lets see Penn and Teller work full time at Wally World and get a $450 check every 2 weeks. All while supporting kids and payiing for health insurance.
I live in Woodland Park, CO. 8,000 people live in this town, and many were apposed to Walmart, primarily people like in this video who say it's a "Sweat shop." After about 3 years we finally got the store. What's interesting (in contrary to people in this video) is that in order for a Walmart to be built they had to pass a lot of strict regulations, including minimum wages. Without hesitation the store accepted the policies but you still get people who hate it.
When I worked at Wal-Mart they started me off at $8.40 an hour and gave me $9.40 for every hour worked on Sunday. Also, considering how air conditioned the average Wal-Mart is calling it a "sweat shop" is an insult to anybody with an over room temperature IQ.
Did I mention that Wal-Mart has it's own comprehensive healthcare plan?
@Byeonik Your fucking retarded. You know their the biggest employer/revenue earning company in the world. You know without Walmart every economy in the world would crumble. Do you know how many people in China work for Walmart? If they were all to lose their jobs China would fall and so would the rest of the world. Without a doubt you or someone you wold know would be affected. How would you feel if family members were homeless due to losing a walmart job that YOU BOYCOTTED. Asshole much?
@MrNicko450 too fucking far to just shop damn, not evryone owns a car how fucking fun is it to travel that far with a buss and then travel all the way back home with all the stuff you just bought, naah man too far

And if you don't like the area you work in, you can go to a manager and ask if they have openings in other areas of the store and if not then they'll call up another walmart in the same area and look for a position for you there.
Celebrian666 5 months ago
Yeah, I'm going to save you by taking your jobs away and forcing you into a welfare system that myself and other politicians control so that we can control your vote. marlboroman1985 5 months ago
Like there where no retail jobs before Wal mart? Are you a cretin or an idiot? Wal mart is funding China just like standard oil funded hitler. War is coming inevitably and we should ban trade with china now!
jakeolthof 5 months ago
@jakeolthof "Banning" trade would not only hurt our economy but would also hurt relations. The best way to diplomacy is through free-trade. Government sanctions, tariffs, and the like all harm diplomacy AND business. Great idea... Do some research.
shanewolfe610 5 months ago
@shanewolfe610 I am a historian and American corporations profited from trade with Hitler right up to the end of the war. In fact Ford motors won a judgement against the US for the destruction of it's factory in Dresden by allied bombing. What research have you done? Look this up: How many more million men are there in China than women? Then look for a recent study that compared sex distribution and the out break of wars since the beginning of recorded history.
jakeolthof 5 months ago
The town centre in my hometown was dying, then a huge Asda (the British branch of Wal Mart) was built there. It's no longer the ghost town it used to be, and the smaller businesses around it get a lot of overflow custom. Shut up, Al.

Slave wages? Slaves don't make wages. If you're getting paid, then you are not a slave, you are an employee.
backwoodsninja 6 months ago
@backwoodsninja Thank you. The whole argument of "Wage Slavery" is a complete crock of shit.
pittland44 6 months ago
@backwoodsninja I've often wondered that myself. How could I get paid slave wages if I'm getting a wage?
xtremejohnny69 5 months ago
@xtremejohnny69 Exactly, getting paid for your labor is the opposite of slavery. Also, if you don't like it, you can quit, which is also quite contradictory to the definition of slave.
backwoodsninja 5 months ago
I don't particularly like Walmart. It tends to be overcrowded. So, I usually don't shop there. That doesn't mean that I'm against the very existence of Walmart.
backwoodsninja 5 months ago
@xtremejohnny69 i think the person meant slave wages as in you cannot improve your situation with the amount of money you are making so its a big cycle because you cant save to make things better because you barely make enough to just survive.
Selrahcthewise 5 months ago
@Selrahcthewise The term "slave wages" is misleading though. Slaves don't get paid, therefore there's no such thing as slave wages (unless you wanna take it to the extreme and claim the slave owner providing food and shelter is a wage.) You could improve your situation if you really wanted to. Start taking night classes, arrange daycare for your kids, hell now a days you can do online schooling. And with all the grants and loans for poor Americans, it's hard to have an excuse not to go.

Note also his claim on being Walmart's #1 Enemy... self centered much? I doubt the CEO has even heard his name.

@1:00 "Those are jobs that harm a community ..."

Either Penn doesn't understand the problem or he's just ignoring everyone's complaints so he can swear at someone he doesn't like.
gabriel38g 9 months ago
@gabriel38g : Hey dipshit. If the small byusinesses provided a service that people wanted to support over that of WalMart, Wal Mart wouldn't exist. You have a problem with freedom of choice you dope? It's called competition. Everybody wins but only if they are intelligent. Clearly, though, you are not.
eimb1999 9 months ago
@gabriel38g Do we should destroy distant Wal Marts as well, because their proximity might hurt small towns around them? What if the people who use surrounding Wal Marts really like them? That doesn't justify their existence? Or should we just enforce the demands of small towns, regardless of who gets affected otherwise? How about facing that small, local business can't cut it anymore in the face of companies like Wal Mart? How does forcing everyone to maintain out-dated business methods help?

not a WM fan or hater... but their are better arguments against them then were shown here.
