It was already on strings to begin with. That's why this tribute kinda makes me chuckle. The original was done with an 80 piece orchestra, this is done with what sounds like a drum machine and a string quartet. Do I think this is bad? No way. It just sounds like a "dumbed down" version of Dougan's song. Maybe I'll upload the orchestral version Dougan put out on his rare Furious Angels single disc so people can hear it without the techno stuff.

I know what you mean and I agree. Clubbed to Death by the quartet sounds even more "dumbed down." The only reason I like this is because the strings are more dominant. I mean, I truly love everything from Rob a lot, I love Furious Angles as it is, but it'd be great to have a version with only the string orchestra from it. This is the closest to that so far.

If you start at around 0:50 and continue to 0:60, you'll hear this sudden drop that really stands out. I'm not sure if it's a mistake or if it's intentional, but it's really noticeable. It's still a good song, of course, but that one part really drags it down a notch..

rob dougan's genre is usually referred to as electronic. don't look under techno because they(electronic and techno) are two different genres

Of course. Dougan did Furious Angels with an 80 piece orchestra I believe. If these guys are an actual quartet, that means there's 4 strings. If not it sounds like maybe 4-10 of them. No way they could capture the power of an 80 piece. However, for what it is, it's a very faithful rendition. I feel it has a more darker tone than Dougan's original. It sounds more looming. I like it a lot.

@corvettez06usa i'm pretty sure that this was made by only four people. it sounds like it. just everybody would be playing double-stops all the time. you can hear it in the violin's part; that violin part can be played by only one violin.

@corvettez06usa It was an 80 piece orchestra?! and he managed to cover it all up with incredibly annoying poppy dance beats... such a shame. This version is a little less "furious" but it's still a lot easier on the ears. Such a great song, but it seems no one has ever executed it properly.
