  • Can you list all the things you need in the Description? :D

  • READ MSG: u can make the belt out of a wwe belt with red cloth

  • I've checked and actually, a plastidip can costs more than handcrafted leather bracers. Is there any other similar material one can use on craftfoam?

  • Would this method work, if it was a under bust corset?

  • i dont know if i hear you right... did you say you have used FOAMY ? like the one that can be tear appart by bare hands ? :S

  • @avannn yes he did... for costume accessories its really useful, if you use it well, it can fake leather and even metal armor :D

  • @avannn oh, but craft foam, not the really thin or thick one

  • Thanks so much XD my bracers came out legit!

  • Can you give me the aprox. cost of this little project, please?

  • Am I the only one that saw the thing sloooooowly falling off his computer thing x3

  • would clear plasti dip work?

  • @zackwolfwalker they are called eyelets

  • what are the ring things called?

  • I know that you get this a lot but I need a list of mats and where to get them. I want to make the bracers and belt. thank you.

  • hey could you list the materials you used in your reply to this message?I'm sorry but I could not understand you in the video.

  • Que buen video:)!

  • what kind of foam is that.."cool foam"?

  • @TheMrFrigid I think it's just regular craft foam. You can get it in the kids section at most craft stores I think.

  • since you are into film making i just wanted to pop in here and throw in my three cents :) I'm making Assassin's creed trailer for my film class (i'm not film major though) and i am making my own costume (hidden blade wont be actual blade i'm improvising it although i wish i had money to buy one or make one) i was just wondering if you wanted to check it out when its done :) no comments needed although feedback from someone who does actual film would be great! should be up around the end of may

  • hello friend am from Argentina I'm trying to make the altair suit, your tutorial was excellent but I could not understand much of the materials to be used, I'm not good with English listen, they might put on a list in a comment? thanks "Knowledge is not stored, shared!"

    YOU FUCKIN ROCK!

  • can you send me a list of the materials you used plz :P

    great tutorial btw :D

  • type in indy mogul and then type in assassins creed....then u can add the blade

  • Comment removed

  • can it hold a hidden blade for costume purposes?

  • how do I make this brown?

  • Does that plastic dip paint on black? Because I'm using brown foam board.

  • @David8343

Use black Plastidip and then when it dries use brown Acrylic paint, it looks more authentic.

  • Thanks!!!! I'm doing this for halloween and maybe the PA rennaissance fair

  • how much did it cost to make ur entire altai costume?

  • @walbe3ck32

I made one, and used his belt/bracer technique, and overall my costume was like $50, no more than $70, but I think $50 is a closer number.

  • isn't that plasti dip black, so if I put that on a brown piece of foam wouldn't it make it black??

  • @MorganAKelley

It looks better if you make it black with the Plastidip and then paint over it with brown once it dries.

  • thank you very much for this tutorial.

i have two little questions, is it possible to dye the plastidip? i need it in brown, or is it possible to paint it after dry?

you skipped at 3:33, have you anything done in this time or just moved the bracer? cause i don't understand why it looks so nice after dry, but when its working like this, it would be nice.

thank you for the answer and this tutorial

  • @Kultgetraenk

I used/needed brown foam because of my Altair bracers, but trust me, when you use the black Plastidip and THEN paint it brown after it dries, it looks MUCH better.

  • hey nice tutorial, thank you very much.

is it able to dye the plastidip or paint it after dry? need it in brown^^

and you skipped at 3:33, did you done anything in this time or just moved the bracer? i dont testet it yet but is does it really dry like this? its very cool

  • hey nice tutorial, thank you very much.

  • 4:33 aahhhAAHHH!!! oh geez...anyways, for the design, is it possible to add foil to it after the plastic dip dries? and if so, which should i use: super glue or hot glue?

  • @eclips1994

I'm assuming you'd like to add Foil to give it a metal effect? I think you could add foil, but in that case I'd put the Plasti-dip on the bottom side of the Bracer, that way the top area you'd apply foil to would stay smooth. The plasti-dip would then be used strictly for giving the bracer strength.

The problem with with the Fun-Foam is that it's foam, so some of the stronger/better glues will cause it to melt. Just avoid alcohol based glues and you should be golden.

  • @philldwill thx! i'll try that

  • why dont use leather?

  • @pingolve

Leather is a bit pricey. This is a cheaper alternative for those who don't have the cash flow :)

  • @philldwill yeah, gotta save money :3

  • what sort of material did you use?

  • @philldwill dosent leather protect u better from a knife? :P

  • @metalrulez96 Oh for sure. This is really just for costumes and not for practical armor :)

  • would this work for Link's bracer?

  • @MorganAKelley

For sure, though you'll need to modify the design quite a lot and for the Straps that go around the arm, you'll want to find some small cheap belts to use, rather than using the funfoam, as the funfoam wouldn't be strong enough when cut to such thin strips.

  • hey is there any other arts and crafts store where i can get this cause i live in ireland D:

  • @christian11820

Hmm, I'm not too sure, though you could try checking online for the supplies, though that'll most likely increase the cost due to shipping :(

  • @philldwill well can u tell me what the material for it is called because it sounds like you said coolfilm O.o

  • thats cool now i know how to make the bracers....i used to use leather from like hides at my dads house and well it was kinda hard making them so i just left that to him and go just a little level lower

  • 5 templars hit the dislike button >:O!

  • asianbiz again....does it matter if it's the dip plasti dip or the spray one? not too sure.....thanx much

  • @asianbiz15

Hmm, I've never seen the spray one. That might be better in a lot of ways. With the brush on kind you tend to get small brush stroke textures, especially if you're using it in warm conditions as it dries more quickly and doesn't allow the liquid to smooth out. I like the textures in most cases, but I can imagine it might be better having it smooth if you want it to look cleaner.

  • my design will be the assassins creed symbol and ill probably use leather watch belts instead of strings

  • Hey much did all of the supplies cost???

  • @taymanrocks

Well just for the Bracers I think it was about $15, but for the whole costume it came to about $50, I got great deals on fabric. The kind of Egyptian Cotton I used would have normally been nearly $80 alone, but I got it for about $20.

  • thanx much....this helped much.....hahaha look at the thing slowly moving on the right side at 3:56.....

  • @asianbiz15

Glad it could help ya out :) Yeah, that mallet was trying to escape. They do that from time to time, so if you have one, keep an eye on it!

  • @6Shadow6Kitsune6

Awesome :) I really hope this helps ya out!

  • altair good legolas good but batman?

  • @12jaketwistoffate HaHa! I know, I just wanted to throw something in there to ruin what little rep I already have :)

  • Thanks a lot for this tutorial, I've been looking everywhere for something like this because I am fixing to start making my prince of Persia warrior within armor that he wears. This is really helpful, thanks once again!

  • @jlhsnake Sorry for my late reply :) I'm really happy this may be put to use. I can imagine it'd be very helpful for a Prince of Persia outfit.

  • Thanku very mhuc i really needed to know how to do one, you are really good at this stuff :D

  • Great work man!! Now i'll try to do mine

  • THANKS MAN!!!

  • can you give me an approx. height of the belt?

  • can you make it like brown leather?

  • дибилы блять :D

  • wow i wanna make 1 like that but theres 1 prob hahah idk where micheal' is or idk where 2 get the stuff butt hahaha nice bracer its awsome

  • Ezio- Nose shaped like eagle

    Audiotoire- Auditor

    De- Of

Firrenze- The town of Firrenze back in 1476.

  • i havent played the game yet so i dont know for sure. but i thought Audiotorie was pronounced the way you said, but then i watched the prequel movie and they all say "Auditor-a" (like the letter A)

  • were can you get plasta dip

  • @ben10fan4ever Home Depot. In the paint section

  • hey. i had a few questions about the plastidip. 1. do you have to delute it? 2. the plastidip is clear right? because i bought brown foam to be game accurate. 3. is the spray just as good, or is the can better? thanks :)

  • @FightingWithDylan I just bought it and the plastic dip is not clear it is black.

  • @FightingWithDylan I have no i dea if you have to diloute it but he didnt do it

  • Thanks for replying!

yeah i will just do it as he does in the vid.

Yeah i looked at ace hardware and they had black, clear, and yellow.

it was $11 and i heard it was cheaper at home depot so i didnt buy it. i just noticed you said you bought it there, is it much less?

(ps. i will post my results after i use clear on brown foam. i dont know if the color of the black made it look good or if the product did. but i guess i will find out :] )

  • @FightingWithDylan I think at home depot it was like 8 bicks... they only had the black... It is behind a fence with the spray paint so you have to ask for it. I just finished my first coat on it. I am hoping it doesnt look too tacky becasue i kinda did it to heavy so, I dont know,..... the exact waiting time is like 4 hours to dry with 2 coats so....

  • ohok. i think i will check that out.

when it finishes drying, tell me how it went. i think i will pick some up today.

  • I finished 2 coats and it looks like his but it looks kinda drippy... i am now going to put the cloth on the back... make sure to measure with paper first and make that a stencil. then cut it out of the foam.

  • Do what he says, and then...

Get some kind of permanent brown paint, about the color of brown leather, and put one coat over it. It will give it a "worn" look. After that put a bit of primer, but not too much, and you will have a true, Altair's bracer.

  • Iam Italian too @Buang459 and what i heared of the english /amerikan version (language of assassins creed 2) is not cool its look like a parodi of italy (how they speek) I like full Italian version Its AWESOME

  • @5Prototype The Animus translates it for Desmond, but the translator is somewhat glitchy, according to Rebecca.

  • can i have the pattern for the cloth parts?

  • does anyone know how to make the costum part

  • Egyptian cotton best thing in the world

  • they sell plastic dip at Ace Hardware...not Home Depot or Lowes! I repeat: They do NOT sell plastic dip at Home Depot or Lowes...Ace Hardware is your best bet, Walmart might have it too.

  • i hate homedepot and lowes they dont have anything

  • 0:44 sorry, what material is? I'm italian and I can't understand well XD

  • cool foam

  • thanks!

  • @Navinaberri oohh,, so youre italian..

im sure you could understand assassins creed 2 very well.

because its adapted from italian language.. :D

  • @Buang456 yeah, I understand well^_^ the italian dub is not very much nice(unlike AC1), the english dub is more funny and simply better, also for the pronunciation errors. And the places are really accurate!

  • DO YOU LIKE THIS!!!!????

    is a real hidden blade

    /watch?v=JR2quMM5TtQ&feature=channel_page

  • MALLET!!!!

  • What size eyelets did you use for this?

  • for eyelits if u have seen conver shoes there the metal holes the lace goes thru

  • what r eyelits

  • It's hard to explain. If you look at a tarp, at each corner there's a metal circle you can use tie a rope through or what not. This is an eyelet, but there's many different sizes. On this you'd use more of a craft size rather than an industrial size. Search googl "Eyelets" and you'll find some retailers.

  • make the blade thingy

  • where did you get the spray stuff

  • where did you get the plastic dip and the eye lit tool

  • 0:48: "cool foam"?

Please help me I'm not native english

  • Ah, yes, Cool Foam. I believe there are other brands, but basically it's a think sheet or a foam rubber. You can find it at pretty much any large crafts store in the kids section. And actually more specifically the one I used was "Creative Hands Cool Foam" cause normal Cool Foam is a mattress material :) I bought mine from JoAnns Fabrics but I'm sure you could get it other places and especially online.

  • im having trouble finding plasti-dip, what is it used for? Ill try finding it in a different brand name

  • Plasti-dip is a product you'd find at a home improvement type store, such as Home Depot and Lowes. It's a rubber material used to create rubber handles for Hammers, Screwdrivers, etc. If you google it you'll get the main website :)

  • lol at 3:55 the paper or something is moving :P

  • This is quite cool. I have one question out of the many. Does the Plasti-Dip and the sponge brush leave noticeable brush strokes on the foam after drying?

  • Nope, it takes too long for the plasti-dip to dry so it has time to level out. It it was really hot, or you had a hair drier on it, it may leave the brush marks. The only problem with the Plasti-dip is it shrinks when it dries. So if you put in on a flat piece of fun-foam, it will cause it to roll up. But it's fine for these applications.

  • Wow, the old batman looked like a Tool!

  • thanks for the idea

I'mma get to work on these cosplay thing when I get home

  • im starting on makig the bracers etc first, but i need 1 thing 2 know, what are the Needs for it, cuse i understand how 2 do now but your lil british accent made it for em unclear what i needed :$

  • im almost done with my costume and when its done on a early release at my school everyone walks down to the center and im gonna freak everyone out by doing pretending to assasinate my friends

  • This might sound stupid to you all and I can understand that, but im actually using this technique for my Big Sister costume from Bioshock 2. So thanks for uploading this. I owe you.

  • Awesome, glad it's helping you out. Good luck with that costume.

  • For the belt or any specific designs you should look at a picture of Altair while you make the shape and design. Also a good idea for a hidden blade is by SquallLeonHart86 is with a collapsable Tai Chi sword.

  • thx so much!!!

  • good tutorial! :P Thanks

  • i also made some bracers with this technique.

    but my belt really sucks.

maybe you can also show how to make the belt exactly.

  • hmmmm i might have to make one of those

  • oh thats kinda cool

  • This will help me for my later cosplays!

  • Good :D

  • Brilliant tutorial, I'll keep this in mind for a friend's Altaïr cosplay. Thanks for posting it =)

  • even a batman costume 0:16 LOOOOOOOOOOLL!!!

  • i have a retarded computer so i didnt undurstand where you got the materials

  • dood love this ima try it out this weekend :)

  • holy shitballs, i never thought of that! I've always sewn all my stuff using impossible layers of heavy fabric. I cosplay, and i need to remember this one. I have tons of foam. :) If i make a vid using your idea, i'll be sure to post and give you credit. :) thanks a bunch!

  • you must be pretty popular at costume parties :)

  • A few questions:

where did you get the eyelits?

    What size are the eyelets?

what did u use or how did u to make the shoes?

how did u make the shoulder harnest?

    thankyou for your time

  • Thank you so much, this really helped me!

Just one question though, what exactly did you use to coat the foam? (My English isn't that great and I don't understand what you mean, sorry ^^; )

  • awsome thnx dude

  • thx

  • what would you recommend for the cloak?

  • Egyptian Cotton, it has great weight and flexibility.

  • this looks really cool but the thing is...

im to lazy to make my own

    i just wanna buy 1

  • hey bud,

great simple tutorial and well explained. I'll definately give this a shot this summer.

  • Oh, I thought by costume you meant, THE ENTIRE COSTUME rather then the one cuff.

    Thanx though.

  • Yeah, well I don't really know how to sew. I showed the cuff cause it's the same technique for the belt, which is what I thought people were curious about.

  • Yeah, very intricate. THanks for the tips, I may make a fan vid and use this.

  • the mallet make me lmao!

  • i wonder if there gonna have an altair costume this Halloweens that would be cool

if though i don't go tricker treating id buy it

  • i wonder if there gonna have an altair costume this Halloweens that would be cool

if though i don't go tricker treating id buy it

  • I'm pretty sure that eyelets are the same thing as grommets. I was in WalMart looking for some awhile ago and none of the employees knew what an eyelet was. Grommets, on the other hand, were in the sewing department. So if you can't find eyelets, look for grommets. ;)

  • Have you, or have you thought of making the sheath on his back for his short sword? Just wondering cause me and friend are working on the short scimitar now and a sheath would be cool.

  • I bought one, its pretty neat. It was at Twiggys Treasures, just search for Sams Knife. I think thats it, although its not the greatest of quality.

  • why the hell is your mouse on the windowsill you packrat???

  • I ran out of desk space. To ease your mind, I'll have you know it's no longer on my windowsill.

  • I bougt all the stuff o_o is the plastidip that dangerous??? It has like a million alerts in the can...

  • Well, I'd suggest using it in a well ventilated area. But once it's dry, it's harmless as long as you don't eat it.
