ugh... this is why kids grow up to be crazy. How about teaching your child some self restraint with some discipline instead of allowing the behavior. My son knows to stand beside me in the store. Or if your paranoid about kid snatchers how about using a stroller?
i really think the kid leash things are a great thing. there's so many kids who might be walking with their parents then run out into traffic or something. or get lost in a mall. people are like "they're bad parents" i think parents who try to prevent they're child from getting killed are pretty damn good parents.
@cearle28 uhm yeah if you raise a dog right they wont need a leash either. you see this child trying to go away from the mom, i wonder why she's on a leash? so she doesn't get snatched up by some crazy person perhaps?
@cearle28 getting out of someones grip isn't that hard , and alot of normal people get their kids snatched up because their kid goes and runs off somewhere and gets kidnapped :P .
@PencilOverPen Anything could happen, but in my opinion, this is not right. My 4 yr. old knows better than to run around and act a fool in a store, or anywhere else we go. Parents need to stop being lazy and teach the kids, it's not that hard. Poor kid!
LOL. When my brother was a toddler, my mom put him on a leash whenever we flew somewhere. She usually dragged him along the airport floor and he just sat there and liked it.
I have it, and my parent's had to leash me at the air port when I was a kid.
The only thing I can say, is that for some reason It is imposable to control the impulses to explore, and go look at interesting things one after another.
Because you cant, your first instinct is to shut down and try to rest until you can escape, witch is partly why allot of people lay down like that.
Its a HUMAN BEING, not a F-ING DOG!!!!!! PS, if parents weren't so worthless nowadays and actually RAISED their children, there'd be no need for LEASHES! And before anybody comments about how "the kid can't get kidnapped now", it's called PAYING attention to your damn kid for once! Or what, are all of you too busy worrying about YOURSELVES to pay attention anymore? Some people...should just be neutered...
okay, so you people would rather your kids run of into a crowd of people, talking to strangers and possibly getting kidnapped, than to keep them close on a leash?
where in the history of parenting did it become acceptable to leash your kid like its an animal? think of all the psychological problems that will stem from this. "its better then it running off into a crowd and being kidnapped"? it seems most parents do not teach their children manners and respect instead opting to let the tv raise them then leash them like a dogs, this is yet another example of where our society is headed. kids know what they are taught, your kids out of control its your fault.
i'm surprised people call this abuse...what would be worse, having a kid SAFELY on a leach where her mom can keep an eye on her at all times OR would you fine dumbasses rather her run off, get kidnapped by some pedo, and possibly raped/murdered? yup keeping your kid safe is FOR SURE child abuse, fucking morons.
@ClubZoomani but if they're unruly, they will get away and run. or if you need both of your hands for a few minutes, they have time to run. i'd use a leach if my kid was misbehaving in public
@Mikisization Great way of thinking! Maybe we should cut people's tongues so they don't swear...Or maybe we should have a police officer for each citizen, following us so we don's steal...Or MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD A LOBOTOMY BEFORE HAVING KIDS!!!!!
@trelenh You're obviously one of those people who has kids who think that ANYONE elses opinion about anythng involving kids is bad towards kids. just shut up before you make yourself look stupid.
@Mikisization No dear...Looking stupid is what you're a professional at...And any ideas involvig a leash is bad...it means the parent has failed to teach the kid to be responsible and listening to grown ups...I guess that's you again...
@trelenh nah, i was a good kid, my parents were good parents, but you should know that some kids just WILL NOT behave, i've seen some of the best parents have trouble with some kids, it's not parenting as much as it is unruly little bastards.
@Mikisization All "unruly little bastards" you say are kids who just copy what they see. So being nice in front of your friends doesn't necessarily mean you're a good parent too. It just means you're great with your friends. You have no idea what's going on behind close doors. MY personal experience says misbehaving kids are either spoilt (BY their parents) or face some problem, but that needs a dignified way to deal with it too!
@trelenh That's not always true. Some kids with attention disorders or even normal kids wont always obey. When this disobedience presents a DANGER it is a good idea to have them on these leashes. Remember the woman who held her child's hand and he got loose and ran into the road and was hit? A leash is way easier to hold onto and may have saved his life. Now leashing 8 year olds. NO!!
I agree with out this she would have to chase her all the time leaveing her BAG unatended. I had one on my cousin cause she get in to the store & she bolts getting into things & it stops perves from kid napping & killing kids.
These things are both good an bad.. Good: kid doesn't run off into crowds or traffic.. Bad: your annoying kid throws a massive hissy fit an someone sees it thinking you abuse your kids.. =/ Not sure which is the better of two evils..
My daughter has one of those thats shaped like a monkey. She actually calls it her safety buddy because she knows it keeps bad strangers from being able to grab her away from me. It also keeps her from getting to far from we when she slips her little hands quickly from mine and takes off like she just ate ten pounds of sugar. Three year olds are very fast and very easily distracted by anything pretty and shiny or even ugly and slimy. Lol these things have prolly saved a lot of fast lil toddlers.
People are so judgmental. Care to wonder if the kid is autistic and prone to wander off despite being told not to? Perhaps the kid isn't old enough to know what dangerous things are and wouldn't hesitate to go off with a stranger or walk outside into traffic in the 5 seconds it takes mom to sign the tickets. Leashes on kids are great for crowded areas where the parents can't pay attention at all times, like airports, malls, and amusement parks. Kids wander off, they don't always come back.
@mattblack04 Umm....I'm autistic, and I was never put on a leash. My parents just kept a very close watch on me and made me hold their hands. Besides, holding your child's hand makes them feel more secure than being on a 4 foot long leash.
@TMKristen I'm sure you're aware there are more extreme cases of autism out there. And sometimes parents need both hands, which is a problem when someone is a single parent.
you give them and inch they'll take a mile...this quote was from back when you'd train your wild animals and you'd keep em on a rope and to see how tame they are you'd give them and inch and if they're still wild they'd run with it until they ran out of rope and get pulled back real hard...then if they are tame if you give them an inch they'd stay by your side. The majority of these leashed kids prove that they are still wild and not public trained. Please geta babysitter next time!
I was a leash kid too, and at 1st I struggled in it like some of the kids in these videos. But it taught me to stick with my parents/grandparents, and eventually the leash came off. I taught my younger kid the same way. I had the leash looped through my belt, and I held her hand. when she pulled her hand out of mine, and took off, the harness/leash took over.
I've never used a leash, but I've had to grab my kid's shirt or pants when they wouldn't let me hold their hands. Then they'd cry and scream for me to let go. It's tough. I don't want to hurt or humilate them, but I also need to keep track of them.
@69bdubb yes the law doesnt seem to realise with kids that are hyper active you cant watch them both at the same time thats what the reigns are for i wish they would deal more with the real criminals
@DarthSmittius Maybe she is trying to avoid a replay of what happened to James Bulger. If I ever have a child, you best bet he/she will most definitely have a "leash".
yah my mom told me she wish she had a leash for she use to make us hold her pants loops for her belt and was not aloud to let go or we would get lickenz(spanking).....kinda wish I had a leash instead lol
