Saturday was traditionally not a big ratings night for Television. However, people were staying home to watch Archie Bunker, Mary and Carol and so forth...I was there. I believe that the CBS Saturday lineup for the 73-74 season surpassed the NBC Thursday lineup in the mid to late eighties for this reason.
Clip at 1.56 was from the episode where Archie discovered that his niece was dating Lionel Jefferson. One of the funniest of the entire series, due to Carroll O'Connor's performance.
Great lineup. Back then, when there were only 3 major networks and not 329723497359732347074072463 cable networks with all this reality "crap", you truly got the best of the best. Now the "big 3" seem to show reality shows and cop/medical drama shows only for the most part. So glad for these youtube clips and for me having such a good memory still
@BatmanFan1966 Amen to that! The Fox Network never came about until the mid 80's(unsure of what year exactly)and you still had to get off your rear end to change the channel at this time, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
CBS Daytime Lineup 10:00am - The Joker's Wild 10:30am - The $10,000 Pyramid (replaced w/ Now You See It; moved to 11:00am) 11:00am - Gambit (switched to 10:30am) 11:30am - Love of Life 11:55am - CBS News 12 noon - The Young and the Restless 12:30pm - Search For Tomorrow 1:00pm - local programming 1:30pm - As The World Turns 2:00pm - (The) Guiding Light 2:30pm - The Edge of Night 3:00pm - The Price is Right 3:30pm - Match Game '73/'74

I wonder if CBS did a Daytime version of the campaign. We would've loved to see clips from Soap Operas (The Young and the Restless, Search for Tomorrow, The Secret Storm, As The World Turns, Guiding Light, Love of Life, and The Edge of Night) and Game Shows (The Joker's Wild, The $10,000 Pyramid, Gambit, Match Game '73 and, of course, the future grandfather of all CBS game shows, The Price is Right with its host, the benevolent Bob Barker).
@tyrese3745 Who had any idea in 1973 that The Price is Right would still be on the air 38 years from then?Of course,it was only half an hour long it's first 2 seasons in existence.
@landrykkb "The Price is Right" , "Young and the Restless" and "Sixty Minutes" are, I believe, the only shows airing on CBS in 1973 that are still on today (as of 2011).
"The Best is Right Here on TV2/ TV2 is Easy on the Eyes" WBAY TV- Green Bay, Wisconsin. or "The Best is Right Here on Channel 12/ Channel 12 is Easy on the Eyes" WISN TV-Milwaukee, Wisconsin. (Both now ABC affiliates: WISN in 1977 and WBAY in 1992)
@AJ0880 Thats the CBS affiliate we got home in Nova Scotia when we first ever got access to it.After WJBK became FOX,we had briefly gotten one out of Toledo,Ohio and then the one from Boston, which we still have to date.
@tyrese3745 "The Best is Right Here on Channel 10"/"Channel 10 is Easy on the Eyes" WCAU-TV Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (now an NBC O&O station) KXTV Sacramento, California (now an ABC affiliate)
@obsgia This is from Wikipedia: CBS has also been called the "Tiffany Network", which alludes to the perceived high quality of CBS programming during the tenure of its founder William S. Paley (1901–90). It can also refer to some of CBS's first demonstrations of color television, which were held in a former Tiffany & Co. building in New York City in 1950, thus earning it the name "Color broadcasting system" back when such a feat was innovative.
@videoholic2000s Rhoda lived in the apartment above Mary Richards' apartment in the Mary Tyler Moore Show, and if you look at the background behind Rhoda you can see that she is standing in Mary's living room.
@apotheounSTK Yes, it's definitely for the 1973-74 season because that was the final season for at least two of these shows: "Here's Lucy" and "The Sonny & Cher Show".
@videoholic2000s - this is 1973. I remember it well. The programs shown were definitely on TV that year. Also - RHODA was spun-off from the Mary Tyler Moore Show and given a promo in this lineup before it made its debut but she was still on the Mary Tyler Moore show in 1973, just before begin given her own show.

Fox began on April 5, 1987 (just thirty-two days before I was born!).

This couldn't be from 1973, because RHODA debuted in Sept., 1974! Good quality for something this old, though!

Take a look at the schedule apotheounSK provides for us at right.
Ever see a better primetime lineup than CBS's on Saturday nights in 1973?
