  • I love the American Saddlebred, they are the most beautiful horse!

  • I learned to ride on a Saddlebred

  • @Horseinfo101 Not sure exactly...there are different pieces in it...Wish I knew? ANYONE out there know? Please let us all know! : }

  • everytime someone talks sh!t to me on youtube saying its unnatural bout saddlebreds and saddle seat i just show them this video or a video of a baby saddle bred out in the pasture alone always proves them wrong :)

  • I have an Arabian/Saddlebred and i love him. i think they are beautiful horses. just would like to see them trained in a more healthy way, with relaxing the back muscles. you can sit the trot of every horse, when the back is working and not sore. and i don't like the tailmuscles to be cut, so that they can lay their tail on their back. other than the way they were trained and treated beautiful and impressive horses! would love to see them more often in germany.

  • the gay of horses, i love it! (^.^)v oh and what is that song in the beginning?

  • I owned an American Saddlebred for 9 years that could keep up with any horse out in the jumper ring. When I lost my farm he went to a woman who trained with 4 time Olympic Gold Medalist Joe Fargis. And Joe loved him!!! Just goes to show that they are more than just fancy footwork :)))

  • I love saddlebreds!!! I miss riding them so much right now!! they are so full of energy its never a boring ride with them!

  • oh how I love American Saddlebreds, no other breed and match up to these guys<3

  • I have a national show horse (arabian X saddlebred) and he loves to trot so much that when he just hears the word "trot" he will start trotting. Even when I am just using it in conversation and not as a command. He has also now learned collection to a point that he steps quite high and he is barefoot. I wouldn't say this kind of horse is for everyone but if you do like the breed they are very rewarding to own.

  • they are gorgeous.

  • this video made me cry too! I bought my Saddlebred off the slaughter truck after the Amish were done with him. He still loves people and is an awesome trailhorse, with big gaits and a level head. I love how Saddlebreds are spirited yet eager to please their owners.

  • @MsRidethewind Two of the lesson horses at our riding barn were off the slaughter truck from the amish. One of them has gone on to be a wonderful show horse in Academy and wins almost every class. When we first got him he could hardly walk and now he is steppin high and happy. It's amazing how much they love grow strong with love.

  • This video makes me cry, every single time i watch it.

  • I've always wanted to ride saddleseat

  • My saddlebred is the most wonderful thing that has happened to me:') That horse would follow me anywhere:)

  • "some of them have never left a wheelchair, except to ride"

i cried at that. I used to volunteer as a horse handler for a therapuetic program...those are a special group of horses.

  • We have one retired saddlebred event horse that would give his ALL to get you out of trouble if you got into a fence at a bad spot or distance. We have another saddlebred cross in training right now that is looking to be yet another promising event horse, with his movement with his swinging shoulder and ground covering strides, and his bravery. Love love love this breed!

  • this video is perfect to explain what riding is.... LOVE IT.

  • I have a american saddlebred! hes the best thing that ever happend to me!

  • i just imagined myself, trotting one of these horses alongside the busy road i live on, imagine the looks i would get!!

i get enough weird looks for riding my andalusian X holsteiner along it, hahah

i so wanna do that now!

  • I love these horses n they walk so gracefully

  • I love this breed.Got myself one too and life has never been better !

  • dose anyone know the rider at 2:50? I think thats my old friend!!! WOW

  • I aswell used to find this sport cruel till' i moved to a saddlebred(seat) farm and found not cruelty at all. The horses are happy, healthy horses. Some people make it cruel, but not very many. The horses love the show ring, thats why they dance around and are crazy looking, not from pain but excitement.

  • @MegaHorses4eva ahh i know its such a rush isnt it?? its nothing compared to practice its like you get in the ring and they KNOW what their suppose to do. The shouts and cheering its like its all for them and they get a rush to! i know my horse is so much more rearin to go in the ring! haha sorry for the abbreviations lol

  • beautiful video

  • Saddlebreds are a BLAST in the ring!!!!!

  • @marybliss99 They are a BLAST anywere in for what you train them for they Been in war .Best trail Shure footed,But they need a good trainerAn to be road every day.

  • @Marjolijntjeuh It comes naturally to them , but I see why u said that. Its not crule

  • its not cruel? the horses are just doing what they like and the owners just help along with it! But i think a little less of a harsh bit could help in the show ring, but other then that, their completely naturally doing what they like!

  • @Annathesurfer A curb bit on a dressage horse is far harsher, simply because if you watch the advanced riders, they have those curbs really put on nearly 90 degrees and held on firmly all the time. A curb bit on a saddlebred horse is much more lightly used, maybe 40 degrees max, and even then the horse is ridden 'behind and off' the bit so the rider is not pulling on it but just bumping it instead. Doesn't matter what discipline you ride, it's the hands that determine whether its harsh or not.

  • @Annathesurfer We really dont have harsh bits. The curb rein is very lightly used. Dressage uses more bit than we do.

  • I really DON'T get why people say it is cruel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a Saddlebred, and she doesn't really pick up her feet, BUT, when I go into the show ring, you can see her feet, even if you are ON THE HORSE!!!!!!! :)

  • @Marjolijntjeuh How is it crule? I ride saddlebreds in saddleseat, and they treat the horses just fine.

  • i love showing saddlebreds, maybe i can show my horse when im bigger

  • Beautiful!!

  • AMERICAN SADDLEBREDS ROCK!

    WOOOT!

  • i've been riding saddlebreds since i was 7 years old and its my whole life i love it! i've been riding for 6 years

  • There are saddlebreds in England and Australia, they make a great show horse, riding horse and competitive horse, and a great friend :)

  • I'm in LOVE with the baby at 1:15!! There r some amazing horses on this clip. keensullivan also has some very nice young and finished horses on youtube

  • 1:08 is like thunder one of the horses my barn breed

  • and it was free

  • wow a free 70,000 dollar horse? LoL

  • my horseback riding instructor had a 70,000 dollar saddlebred

  • such a beautiful horse. Can you use this kind of horse in allround?

  • they do a lot of different disciplines. check out my horse if you want to see.

  • @Z3TZU oh yea of course i have a friend who rescued a saddlebred and he does this, jumping, and barrel racing........ walking horses just like these are versitile as well. i went to a state competition and there was a walking horse who raced, jumped, and competed in her flat classes. as well as being a trail horse

  • i miss my saddlebred. Moses Unrelenting.

  • omg i have a show in 7 days im so excited

  • why do they ride so far back onthe horses? looks weird XD

  • It's not that they sit far back. It depends on where the saddle can be placed depending on the fall of the horses withers.

  • the style is called saddleseat and in this particular style of riding the saddle is placed farther back on the horse than an english or dressage saddle.

  • Because the horses raise their necks and heads up high so you have to placew the saddle in the right spot so the horse is comfortable. It also depends on the fall of their withers

  • I miss watching Doubletree's Steel the Show. He was really cool to see go.

  • he was absolutley amazing. :)

  • I love my saddlebred. He has a lot of personality. He chases cars along the fence.

  • haha! awesome!

  • there alright, we use REALLY light saddles and the saddlesea r mande for saddleseat

  • <3 ASB! I love Saddleseat - ASB will always havea special place in my heart.

  • I ride saddlebreds!!!!

  • great video!!

  • OMG!!!!

I ride saddlebreds. I am Natalie Robinson and my horse is Winnepeg Parks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • are u allowed american saddlebreds in england??

  • Yes, of course! Although I think there may only be a handful (if any at all) of breeders in this country. You may have to buy in America and ship over. :-(

  • cheers

  • I've ridden Tbs and WBs for many, years and last oct I finally went 4 it and got my 1st saddlebred. She's from Saddlebred Rescue in NJ (I'm in Alberta, CAN) so the cost to transport her was 3x her adoption fee, but she's worth every penny. (There aren't a whole bunch of Sbred barns here so it was either pay to have her transported or pay double that amount to a local show barn.)

I'm so happy with her! My skinny rescue mare has bloomed with dressage and now is the star of the local arena!

  • i have sen one, it was a 5 gated one and it crashed through the first fence, and (this is at lvl 5) and eery jump after that it would stop and LAUNCH up and over....it was pretty bad looking.

  • I always see them on circuits.

  • i want a saddlebred so bad!!!!! i have a half arab that does saddleseat. im kinda tired of the arabs. i lke them but they r just spooky. I live in florida and saddleseat is not popular here at all. its more of the westernn and huntseat and jumping stuff. i ride western also but i like saddleseat better.

  • horses don't have to jump to be athletic. Over the summer the horses at the barn are at shows non-stop. If you don't call that athletic what is?

  • They are trained with light chains to build muscle so it becomes easier ti lift teir legs up high when the chains are off.One should be very careful to not confuse the trainig aids of TENNESSEE WALKING HORSES with those of SADDLEBREDS.Saddlebreds show up to ages of 22 and if the training was as bad as they say, this should not have been possible!

  • r u kidding me?!!?!?!?! thats one of the coolest things about them!!!!!! theres nothing wrong with it and it doesnt hurt them at all!!

  • they look super in-breed in shows like that... and why are the riders so small?

  • Many children compete in the ring on saddlebreds with classes for equitation going as young as 8 or 9 years of age. The horses look hot but they are safe to ride.

  • Actually, Great Britain, Canada, South Africa, and Namibia have saddlebreds and saddle seat. Just saying.

  • whoa whoa wow we do not do any of those things, yeah we use chains but thats just so they can lift their legs higher and get more muscle in the legs

what u heard r rumors don't spread rumors

  • ive never heard of them useing chains on saddlebreds. thats ususaly in tennesse walkers. saddlebred trainers ussualy use weighted pads.

  • yeah both use them

  • they do jump

  • A purebred Saddlebred was recently exported from Australia to compete in Eventing on the USA's East Coast circuit.

  • all i c is there horses do a "flat" class. but that is me, i believe reining and cutting horses are very athletic, i ride them.

  • If someone is considered an athlete do they have to play footbal?? same thing just with horses

  • They do one was on an olympic team one year

  • Hi guys! I was blessed to have a five-gaited mare as a pet for over 15 years. Attention was her big thing--she loved the horse show environment, trail rides, camping trips. In the show ring she had that "big" expression but immediately afterwards she delighted in giving "pony rides" to kids. She made funny faces at us and "talked" behind our backs! She lived to a ripe old age until 1994. I miss her dearly. She was such a good girl.

  • Maybe some people do that but many saddlebreds are just natural like that. Ginger, weighted shoes, and chains are more commonly used for TWH. The chains and shoes used for saddlebreds do NOT hurt them. The chains don't weigh barely anything. Jumpers put boots on their horses? Ever heard of easy boots for trail riding? Those are pretty heavy. Saddlebred shoes are not any heavier depending.

I loved this video. It really showed off the American Saddlebred!

  • Horse shoes are maybe 10% heavier than a standard horse shoe and the 'heavy' chains are 6oz. If you're not sure, go ask a Saddlebred trainer to show you them.

  • they r born that way

there more uphead than most breeds kind like fresians n morgans kind looks like they come right outta the withers

  • oh and as far as the shoes, i believe saddlbreds wear normal shoes, hackneys have weighted stacked shoes. Some saddlbreds might wear weighted shoes but Im not for sure on that one.

  • yea they put weights on for park n pleasure

  • these horses love doing what they do. and the saddlbred along with others, naturally hold their heads high. its not natural to hold their heads low like other breeds which i show. you have to be a true horse lover and show goer to full understand it.

  • I have ridden the horse at 1:07 !!! His name is Harley and hes a sweety!!

  • they didnt ad in as much dressage because the breed excells in saddleseat more than jumping or dressage...oh and the shoes just make them look more flashy

  • It wears special shoes fo the action or what? :P I have no idea

  • No, the "shoes" any horse appears to be wearing are bell boots. They keep his horseshoes from flying off.

  • ... I know that.. Under the hoof theres a shoe.. Is that extra heavy or light or anything to make the horse step even higher?

  • No, standard shoes I'm sure. My riding instructor's horse has standard shoes on and has really nice action.

  • ohh ok ;)

  • I bet there weighted atleast a bit alot of Saddlebreds for shows they have weighted shoes for more action but not all.

  • thanks ;)

  • Very profesional video about our great breed , I am extremely impressed! Thanks for posting!

  • Boże jakie piękne! :O:O:O:O:O Ahhh, I love saddkebredes! Beautiful horses!

  • I ride saddle seat and it is soooooooooo hard!!

  • I agree 4E8S8D6, wish i took a video at Lexington this year...hopefully someone will post vids of it.

  • What is the name of the song played at 1:10?

  • Actually my ASB has one of the nicest canters in the world, slow, smooth, like a rocking horse.

  • Wow this video summed it up nicely. I Love this horse. I have one of my own and show him in Country Pleasure. Beautiful animals and fun to ride.

  • Saddlebreds truly are a-maz-ing...

  • my horse is an american saddlebred as well. haha. hes a greatr ride!

  • I LOVE AMERICAN SADDLEBREDS!!!!

  • they arent forced to do any of that. it is in there breed that they do that. the ASB breed is to pick there feet up that high if they are traing gaited!

  • im showing my saddlebred at nationals

  • I love this movie!

  • I love showing Saddlebreds......

  • well not AS arched but i do know h carries his head, not DOWN like western pleasuew

  • ok i will,i'll put a video response of it;) an AQHA barrel horse mannie *masculine charming* 16 years old sorrel

  • if they can't ride with there heads up.then why does my pure bred AQHA mannie ride with a VERY high neck, very arched because he's a barrel horse

  • Do you have a video of your AQHA with his head arched up when riding him ? Prove to us all and show us that your horse can look like a ASB.

  • Quarter horses are NOT gaited horses Big Difference !!!!!Quarter horses can not natually ride with their heads arched and up!

Quarter horses can't do any of the high stepping or gaites that the ASB can .

  • I LUV THIS VIDEO IT LETS ME SHOW OTHERS HOW GREAT THESE AMAZING HORSES ARE

SADDLEBREDS ARE MOST DEFFIDENTLY THE BEST BREED AND IF IT WASN'T FOR MY SADDLEBRED IDK WHERE I WOULD BE RIGHT NOW

    THANK U SOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )

i know i spelled things wrong lol

  • saddlebreds are the best horses in the world i will never have any other breed! i love them so much! espacially showing them!!! :)

  • Every breed enthusiast will tell you the same thing, their breed is intellegent, responsive, loves people, wants to do its job, and every breed is "the most versitile" the only difference is the style with which they do it.

  • I ride and show saddlebreds :)

    They are so amazing

    Great video!

  • AKA: "Peacock of the horseworld" for obvious reasons!!! Wah-hooooooooo! It's always thrilling to watch these horses!

  • Bottom line, like Arabs, thoroughbreds, etc..and other stereotyped *hot* horses, a saddlebred can be flighty. But HOT doesn't mean spooky, nuts, or flighty! "Spooky" is an individual horse's characteristic, not a breed TRAIT. My old standardbred mare was a hyper-looking, prancy, snorty horse under saddle. But she was the most excellent, steady, sane, and light horse I'd ever ridden!

  • WOW! Very Nice!!

  • Pretty sure this (Vid) is at least 2 years old...from what the sender told me....?

Glad everyone's enjoying it as much as I did!

    : )

  • hello! i have a question about the video. at

1:28, is than scott pevilian at the american royal?

  • sorry I was at this horse show last year

  • Nice video! Saddlebreds are my 2nd favorite breed!

  • Beautifl horses and video. Saddlebreds are truly beautiful horses!

  • they are very pretty and they do like the spotlight. When I shop for a horse my next one might be a saddlebred.

  • What a wonderful video! I have a 19 year old Saddlebred and I absolutely adore him! They are great atheletes and great companions. I wish more people in the horse industry knew about them and their capabilities.

  • This is an exllent video!

  • Saddlebreds are the smartest, most beautiful animals on the planet and I love 'em! Thanks for sharing!

  • great video. definately true.

  • they are a breed appart

  • They definitely got it right - Saddlebreds LOVE attention. Mine immediately perks up and will show off if you bring out a camera. He's 19 and he'll still flip his tail over his rump like a foal at play. :D

  • finally someone shines the spotlight on the american saddlebred.

  • yeah i liked it

  • Wow, those are gorgeous animals

  • its awsome and u can learn from it alot!!!

  • I was about 8 yrs old, the first time I ever saw a horseshow. It was American Saddlebreds in Didsbury Alberta back in the '60's. I was in awe then, and I am in awe again. Spectacular!

  • i love how they show the babies trotting in the fields so beautiful because many people who do not know our breed think it is all unatural. you can't MAKE any horse raise up and be a show horse who doesn't want to be.

  • loved it. ASB's are the best. and yes they can b a horse for the disabled i seen it happen. and No the horse wasnt trained for it. It just was an ordinary ASB who got the chance 2 help someone. I use 2 own a ASB and their great.

  • This is an amazing video! It really gives the breed a good name

  • This almost made me cry, aww. What a beautiful breed.

  • I absolutely love this video, I could watch and watch. I love my ASB's, they're the best horses I've ever owned.

  • More or so the horse KENTUCKY (thank you very much my home state) made. Those horses are cocky, the video was on the mark on that part. Can You Even! (Carson) has proven that, just by me talking to his owner at school daily. I miss their gait so much, but I wouldn't suggest riding one for a disabled rider as they are very spooky unless they've been instensly trained to be bombproof.

  • Whom ever believes that saddlbreds are spooky, must never have owned one... They are no more or less "bomb-proof" than a Quarter Horse, Morgan, Draft, or anyother warm or cold blooded animal.

I have over 30+ years of experience with horses. The last 10 years I have been using Saddlebreds for demonstations and lessons with disabled and physically challenged children and adults.

There is nothing in the World like an American Saddlebred.

  • baylee, they get a bad rap for that, but they really are not that spooky. sure, the ones who love to show are more that way, but my sister rode one in the special olympics for years and won lots of medals. i am a riding instuctor and some of them who are not show quality nake great lesson horses and trail horses.

this is a great video on them, wish we did a better job of getting the word out how great and versitile this breed really is.

  • That's quite untrue. They may get bigger if they notice something odd. But they are mostly BOLD, seldom spooky, and will trot through fire. Both my ASB Show horses played a BIG part in my recovery from a BIG spinal surgery

  • and were safe and sane enough for me to get back in the saddle after just a couple months of recuperation. They tend to be SMART as heck and will babysit an insecure rider. Now that I'm fully healed, my gelding gives me all kinds of crap. He never put a foot wrong while I was just getting back in the saddle. I also used my retired mare for beginner beginner riding lessons. So... spooky and unsuitable they most definitely are not. That's a very unsuitable generalization to make.

  • This is a GREAT video. I really enjoyed it alot.
