I think that is the best thing that should be done,5 trillion euros of gas and oil would go a long way in Ireland,since we are just an Island.and we do not consume as much energy as other Countries,especially with the oil crisis around the corner.

My own feeling is that to the EU , Ireland is just a piggy bank , nobody knows how much minerals and fossil fuels are waiting to be exploited off our coasts ! will we see any of it ? How come the Netherlands didn't have to leave in 2005? The Dutch rejected the EU Constitution by a larger margin than the Irish rejected Lisbon.

The Irish don't hate the EU, they don't like the Lisbon treaty, they don't want to hand over more sovereignty to unelected eurocrats.

If the Irish chose to leave the EU it will be decided by referendum, but there is no desire to leave the EU at all.
