This is great, I really want to strengthen my iron palm technique. However, this is difficult because my Sifu focuses much more on Iron fist training, pretty much just hitting gravel bags with my pinky knuckle. After training like this, would you guys preferably strike the head with your palm or fist? I always strike the floating rib with my palm, mostly due to the fact that it feels more comfortable. As for the dit da jow, Ive been using icy-hot for a while and it seems to do the trick! -Jordan
great video guys, iv watched it now about 11 times since finding it yeaterday..i hope you check your youtube cuz i really would like an answer for this..i just started iron palm to strengthen for my wing chun training, does tiger balm help if i dont have the jow?
Really inspiring. How long does it take to harden your palm to break this stuff? Is there a need for meditation and things like tai chi? Good video. Thanks.
Really really inspiring. You guys seem to be really in balance. How long does it take to harden your palms to break all these stuff? Is there a need to meditate and do tai chi and stuff? Im inpressed. Good Video
Brother there are dangers if trained improperly, however if you train smart and traditional using the jow its not a problem. I know people who have conditioned their hands for decades with no health problems. --It also helps to train with a little bit of common seance, which many people seem to not possess. :)
Yes and no. Water slapping is more of an internal training where iron palm is external. Also there are several different water training methods some actually pull water up, others push water down, to me it it similar to candle training where you are focusing on YI or intent. Iron palm is slapping steel shot thus faster results for combat training. However some people like to meditate on tiger skin rugs and develop their awesomeness... --Me, not so much.
@Helix144 splashinng hands is a technique and iron palm makes it much more effective. spalshing hands is a shaolin technique as you know. sifu ames mcneil is a big proponant of
i have a problem, i am realy skinny and i have real veiny hands, when i hit something with the back of my hand like in the exercise, it get's busted up realy quick
Brother this is very common, especially in the beginning. Just make sure you are letting the hand drop with gravity onto your bag without muscle power, keep applying dit da jow also apply it maybe three or four times extra daily to help your hand heal. You can keep conditioning the hand but just skip the back. The back of the hand takes the longest to condition where you will not have any bruises. Also don't fill your bag with rocks as this tends to damage the hands more.
Holy cow. You guys are "old school" real kung fu training there. Much respect to you guys. I need to learn that. Bag of rocks to stimulate the head? Feel sorry for whoever gets hit with your palm strikes.
I like your training, I can tell your minds are in the right places and your chi is flowing peacefully, especially with the sitting full chi strikes. It looks like you cut through those bricks like butter, especially the side chops :) . I wish more people in the world would spend their time improving themselves instead of harming others or the earth. If only Jackass was as popular as kung fu or other indigenous traditional cultures for that matter, the world would be a better place.

I studied Wing Chun for about three years. It is probably what I would revert to in a time of no thought reaction or muscle memory. My Bro just started training with one of his friends in WC. So we have it in out tool bag but are not primary just WC. We also study bagua and other Chinese MA, and whatever we feel is effectiave and interests us.
I train everyday, and hope to move to a gravel bag soon. But this made me realized ,I just cant WAIT TO OPEN COCONUTS WITH MY BARE HANDS!!! Why was this magical opportunity not introduced to me?
If someone steps on my foot or bumps into me that is what I do . However if someone "stomps" my foot that shows intent, a deliberate action to harm me. Then that is deserving of a reaction --maybe face breaking maybe choke hold, who knows...
are you guys serious. you two pussies cant even break four of those blocks and the worst part about it . you put pads on them so you dont hurt your little pussy hands. but it was kind of funny watching you two homos make fools of your selves
I hate to bust your bubble idiot, but only a hand full of people in the world can or could ever break 4 "UNSPACED" paver blocks.
The towel does not keep the hand from being injured, but from being cut by the blocks breaking, if we were using something other than little wash cloths it might be different.
@awhyah why dont you try four bricks ?...there not being pussies dumbass....i bet you couldn't do one....they did a good job (and they didnt even use spacers)
@awhyah Your the one to talk, dickweed. Consider your dumbass lucky that these are not around to iron palm smack your ass. This is harder than it looks.
Brother I have to tell you that you are wrong. True Iron Palm conditions the hands, however it is primarily a COMBAT skill... Once again you have no idea what you are talking about.
P.S. I have a few letters at the end of my name; plus I have done years of research on this topic.
@JohanFromIndonesiaTM LOL,OMG and every other cliche i can think of. so if you beleive this go out and get 3, 2x8x16 pavers or 1 , 4x8x16, set it up on a stand and hit it with all you have, after you get out of the emergency room please report back to us your findings. we ask any and all who say this nonsense,"please try rhis at home". please try this,i beg you try this. we cant wait to hear from you. of course you wont be able to type but i am sure someone will do it for you.
WTF?? -We brew the Jow ourselves, with lineage based formulas handed down to us. However I do not remember if we were using the ku yu cheong or the chan ning tong the day we filmed the video. My brother has published a martial Dit Da Jow formula book, I think we know a little something about jow...
Im sure these blokes have trained for years, and im fairly certain they have hands like stone...but Id put money on the fact i could drop my cock on one of those blocks and they would break...Leave breaking blocks to the Asians....it gives them self esteem.
why did the bricks seem to break effortlessly? It seemed you barely had to graze it and it broke in the middle. The technique and the practice methods are great an I"m sure to incorporate some of them into my routine, but I cant get over how easy the bricks shattered....
Brother thanks for the kind words. The bricks either break or they don't. Their actually pretty tough but after a few years of breaking you build up, learn body harmony that is needed to break, and through continued condidioning your hands are harder and can take more. Be well...
@duchampscomb hey i was just wondering if you can make a video that teaches us the iron palm technique. theres not a single one on youtube. just breaks and conditioning
We have thought about this, but it is a bit problematic. There are continuous palm forms and two man drills. However Iron Palm can be grafted to any system of martial arts, most especially kung fu. Basically all you have to do is use the palm/palm strike instead of a fist. --Bagua does this very nicely. :)
@duchampscomb Very excellent video! Overall I think this is the best I have seen online. I used to train Iron Hand when I used to fight and it really makes a massive difference. I am just starting to get back into it and your video brings back fond memories! Thank you!
Cool stuff . been looking for ways to help toughen other parts of my body other than my forearms . Been training wing chun for a little over 2 years and love it .. Also train kali so it came natural ..
The physics indeed may be simple but it is no small task. That is like telling an olympic runner a 4 min mile is simple conditioning. Lets see you sir break some blocks (or run a 4 min mile)...
@SPOOKSTR No.... You have not seen a 5 year old break 2x8x16 concrete blocks sir. Perhaps some other type or the 2x4x16's but not a true 2x8x16 concrete block.
Brother it is much harder to break flat, that between two uprights. It is very very east t break blocks that ave been spaced. Thus you see many people on youtube using spacers. However you will never see me or my brotherd do this.
Brother, Yes I plan to upload some more videos. I want to upload me breaking a 4" block (I have broken a couple of them). I also will probably upload a few basic-advanced vids of theory on IP and Kung Fu in general. -But my life is busy and I have many passions. Not to mention my interest in youtube is not really that great as I offer information and my advice for free, and still often get allot of negativity. So often I feel what's the point? Vanity?... Be well.
this is not fake, it takes years of training by strengthen the hand. at this stage all the nerve ending is nearly dead so you barely feel any pain. if you think its fake go try it. it might seem easy but it really is not.
Thanks for the comment. However the nerve ending are not really "dead", they still feel cold, heat, and pressure but pain not so much. If you have a layoff for a few weeks or a month the pain sensations returns. I think this is two fold some sensations return on their own others are repaired by the body. With "Wolf's Law" the more you do something the more your body can take... Hope this helps.
I've been training for a few weeks and have made dramatic gains. My fists are MUCH harder, punching power is increasing..A friend of mine even commented that my hands were growing, still don't know how serious he was but the timing of the comment was spot on with when I started seeing gains.
please morons read up about iron palm - this isn't the stupid shit you see karate retards doing so please educate yourself before posting, it is indeed real
It seemed believable up until 2:14. When it comes to unbraced breaking, you need speed not power or strength to break it. That was nowhere near enough speed and reminds me of these "professional martial artists" who came to put on a breaking demonstration one day. What they did was kindle these cinderblocks to cause them to become extremely brittle and easy to break and it was impossible to tell the difference by looks alone. Really makes me question the legitimacy of this vid.
The break your talking about is the bottom of four. You can believe what ever you like including your misconceptions about breaking. We do not alter our blocks in any way including baking them to impress people.
Stick to what you know B-Boy break dancing... LOL.
@mauiboynokaoi i assure you we do not fake or bake anything. just because it looks easy doesnt mean it is. and you are a little off on your idea that it is all speed. this is totally incorrect. it encompasses alot more than spped to break. on a free standing block, yes it is more speed. iassure you ,we will break in public anytime. all we gotta do is find a lowes home improvement store.
Brother I assure you I'm NOT foolin' myself or anyone else for a matter of fact. We break "Concrete" period, Not that Y-Tong sissy-shiznit. We can not even get that junk here in the US, that some euro-fake Iron Palm BS... If you cannot tell we break the "real deal" by the sound and the way it looks your an idiot...
@suissedude i assure you ,these are not y-tong. look up y-tong on the internet. thats what that "narve" guy breaks. what a joke.
it is sad, because he ruins this for all,as now when people see it, they automaticall think it is y-tong. however like my bro. said,if you cant tell the difference, you sir are an idiot.
Ive been hitting the Tree in my backyard for 4 years now and you can see the dent in it, I wanna do What you guys do because that strengthens fingers, Palms, Whole hand, and It gives you the ability to not feel pain because you are used to it. Anyways my Fist are really hard and I dont really have trouble knocking people out. Ima start doing that now though Thanks for the video
@2locOUT dude, hitting a tree is a very classic old school training method. oyu dont need the i.p. bag now, just continue to do what oyu do and add reps or time to your training and start using jow.
Thats the old question long road or short road. Well I believe the short road is better. Thus external hand conditioning, you can see great results in two -three years, and know you have forged something special. With just qi gong it takes about ten years. However we also add gi gong to our training as well, its relaxing and moves chi. Hope this helps.
@L9hfighter absolutely. i use jow in a spray bottle especially for my forearms and shins and my iron shirt work. it makes it very convient and less messy. dont worry about when people say to only store it in glass,or that it will eat through pastic. if you have jow that eats through pastic i want to see it and further more i wouldnbt put it on my skin,as it has become a solvent.
As a karate man, I can respect and appreciate this type of training. Especially the Bloodsport reference :)
Don't know if you're familiar with a YouTuber named garrylever06, but he is a Goju-Ryu karate stylist. Many of his conditioning exercises mirrored yours, such as the palm and forearm training, and the hand grip w/the jar. It's funny how so much of karate has been adapted by the Chinese arts, yet we have the eternal karate vs. kung fu debate. Each art has something to offer IMHO.
Thanks Brother. I think all martial artist have something to offer one another. However you have your history all wrong, it is karate that was created by copying Chinese Kung fu. Karate was originally called "China fist".
@duchampscomb Yeah hard soft style karate was derived for naha-te but I think its only what about 100 years old? kung fu is ancient. Goju ryu takes from ninjutsu, (the blocks) and mimicks some kung fu, (white crane, cat stance, horse stance). I agree that kung fu was developed way before karate even though I am a karateka myself.
@duchampscomb Wow, just read my comment, I made a serious typo. I meant to say " so much of karate has been adopted FROM the Chinese arts." You're absolutely right, can't believe I made such a huge mistake there. Please excuse me, I meant no offense at all. I should've proofread before I sent it.
Mainly we avoid fairy tales, the tooth fairy, and the Easter bunny... We use dit da jow and qi gung; Jow is the most important. I personally do not hit anything with my finger tips but the pads of the fingers. As far as the hand conditioning goes we hit everything under the sun a multitude of ways. YOU WILL NOT HAVE HEART PROBLEMS OR CATARACTS (unless you have a genetic pre-disposition). Hand conditioning actually will improve your health. Just use Jow, common sense, and don't be masochistic.
Now THAT breaking is impressive. Too used to seeing ppl have 1 inch spacers between really long thin bricks and talking smack about how tough they are. No spacers and 2 inch slabs is pro.
Thank you Brother. We too are sick of all the fakers and under-skilled acting like "masters." That is why we are here to shed light on the TRUTH and show what REAL breaking looks like...
@duchampscomb Yah always been interested in learning the actual art. It didnt take long to see the tricks involved in the general breaking we see today in most martial arts (in this case the Shotokan school I was in). I felt like a faker knowing the spacers were doing most of the work. Prob is in my area theres no specialists in this area. Any good reading you guys would suggest for basic intro training in Iron Palm?
Thanks for the question in regard to TCM and oral tradition. What you have to remember this is modern day. You have to put common seance and science with oral tradition to find what is real and what was put in place to discourage people from training or to add the mystical. There is H8 about an inch under the little finger and LI1 under the finger nail on the index finger. I know many people with over 10 years of training, none with hart or eye problems, so judge for your self the truth.
The rollerbar is used for "iron arm" or forearm conditioning, for blocking and breaking through others blocks. The container you refer to is used for tiger/eagle grip training, traditionally a jar filled with sand or water was used. You can use any kind of container as long as it spreads your fingers into a tiger claw shape. Be well...
We made the rollerbars from brass pipe and filled it with lead shot as we make most of our training equipment. The rings were bought at WLE (wing lam enterprises) tho.
We made the rollerbars from brass pipe and filled it with lead shot as we make most of our training equipment. The rings were bought at WLE (wing lam enterprises) tho.
You guys know of Kuk Sool Won? Korean system of martial arts. Lots of iron palm techniques, but they're all about ki power, there's no need to callous up your hands. Most arts just smash their hands until the nerves are dead. I'm talking single fingertip breaks, people! Kuk Sool! And yes I know what i'm talking about.
This is great, I really want to strengthen my iron palm technique. However, this is difficult because my Sifu focuses much more on Iron fist training, pretty much just hitting gravel bags with my pinky knuckle. Im sure these blokes have trained for years, and im fairly certain they have hands like stone...but Id put money on the fact i could drop my cock on one of those blocks and they would break...Leave breaking blocks to the Asians....it gives them self esteem.
SPOOKSTR 1 year ago
why did the bricks seem to break effortlessly? It seemed you barely had to graze it and it broke in the middle. The technique and the practice methods are great an I"m sure to incorporate some of them into my routine, but I cant get over how easy the bricks shattered....
Emperor00id 1 year ago
Brother thanks for the kind words. The bricks either break or they don't. Their actually pretty tough but after a few years of breaking you build up, learn body harmony that is needed to break, and through continued condidioning your hands are harder and can take more. Be well...
duchampscomb 1 year ago
@duchampscomb hey i was just wondering if you can make a video that teaches us the iron palm technique. theres not a single one on youtube. just breaks and conditioning
TheMrBfmv 1 year ago
We have thought about this, but it is a bit problematic. There are continuous palm forms and two man drills. However Iron Palm can be grafted to any system of martial arts, most especially kung fu. Basically all you have to do is use the palm/palm strike instead of a fist. --Bagua does this very nicely. :)
duchampscomb 1 year ago
@duchampscomb Very excellent video! Overall I think this is the best I have seen online. I used to train Iron Hand when I used to fight and it really makes a massive difference. I am just starting to get back into it and your video brings back fond memories! Thank you!

Simple physics and not a lot of force is all thats required to break those blocks...i've seen 5 year olds brake them.
SPOOKSTR 1 year ago
The physics indeed may be simple but it is no small task. That is like telling an olympic runner a 4 min mile is simple conditioning. Lets see you sir break some blocks (or run a 4 min mile)...
duchampscomb 1 year ago
@SPOOKSTR No.... You have not seen a 5 year old break 2x8x16 concrete blocks sir. Perhaps some other type or the 2x4x16's but not a true 2x8x16 concrete block.

What about breaking bricks without any space/stands?
I am impressed with the conditioning. Also a question about the elite guard thing you guys do, is it like paramilitary training?
NorthernVictory 1 year ago
Brother it is much harder to break flat, that between two uprights. It is very very east t break blocks that ave been spaced. Thus you see many people on youtube using spacers. However you will never see me or my brotherd do this.
duchampscomb 1 year ago
@duchampscomb are you planning to upload more videos?
fooloofoo 1 year ago
Brother, Yes I plan to upload some more videos. I want to upload me breaking a 4" block (I have broken a couple of them). I also will probably upload a few basic-advanced vids of theory on IP and Kung Fu in general. -But my life is busy and I have many passions. Not to mention my interest in youtube is not really that great as I offer information and my advice for free, and still often get allot of negativity. So often I feel what's the point? Vanity?... Be well.
duchampscomb 1 year ago
this is not fake, it takes years of training by strengthen the hand. at this stage all the nerve ending is nearly dead so you barely feel any pain. if you think its fake go try it. it might seem easy but it really is not.
yeunuocyeudan 1 year ago
Thanks for the comment. However the nerve ending are not really "dead", they still feel cold, heat, and pressure but pain not so much. If you have a layoff for a few weeks or a month the pain sensations returns. I think this is two fold some sensations return on their own others are repaired by the body. With "Wolf's Law" the more you do something the more your body can take... Hope this helps.

i hate when i train my palms hitting wood and i chop it wrong above the meat of my palm and it hits the bone :/
id3818919 1 year ago
I've been training for a few weeks and have made dramatic gains. My fists are MUCH harder, punching power is increasing..A friend of mine even commented that my hands were growing, still don't know how serious he was but the timing of the comment was spot on with when I started seeing gains.

Why is it that when white people do some sort of kung-fu style, it just looks goofey as fuck?
locknez1munster 1 year ago
It seemed believable up until 2:14. When it comes to unbraced breaking, you need speed not power or strength to break it. That was nowhere near enough speed and reminds me of these "professional martial artists" who came to put on a breaking demonstration one day. What they did was kindle these cinderblocks to cause them to become extremely brittle and easy to break and it was impossible to tell the difference by looks alone. Really makes me question the legitimacy of this vid.
mauiboynokaoi 1 year ago
The break your talking about is the bottom of four. You can believe what ever you like including your misconceptions about breaking. We do not alter our blocks in any way including baking them to impress people.
Stick to what you know B-Boy break dancing... LOL.
duchampscomb 1 year ago
@mauiboynokaoi i assure you we do not fake or bake anything. just because it looks easy doesnt mean it is. and you are a little off on your idea that it is all speed. this is totally incorrect. it encompasses alot more than spped to break. on a free standing block, yes it is more speed. iassure you ,we will break in public anytime. all we gotta do is find a lowes home improvement store.

awww you could have built a house with those bricks...... lol joke aside very nice demonstration

I like the training. But: Don't fool yourself with these pussy Y-Tong Plates! Even my grandmother could break these plates with ease...
suissedude 1 year ago
Brother I assure you I'm NOT foolin' myself or anyone else for a matter of fact. We break "Concrete" period, Not that Y-Tong sissy-shiznit. We can not even get that junk here in the US, that some euro-fake Iron Palm BS... If you cannot tell we break the "real deal" by the sound and the way it looks your an idiot...
duchampscomb 1 year ago

2locOUT 1 year ago
@2locOUT dude, hitting a tree is a very classic old school training method. oyu dont need the i.p. bag now, just continue to do what oyu do and add reps or time to your training and start using jow.
tao123chi 1 year ago
i have a question what do you say if you wanna break rocks or brick, is iron palm fist etc. works or just qiqong?
SoloxWalkaz 1 year ago
Thats the old question long road or short road. Well I believe the short road is better. Thus external hand conditioning, you can see great results in two -three years, and know you have forged something special. With just qi gong it takes about ten years. However we also add gi gong to our training as well, its relaxing and moves chi. Hope this helps.
duchampscomb 1 year ago
very nice.

Is it ok to use dit da jow in a spray bottle to apply?
L9hfighter 1 year ago
@L9hfighter absolutely. i use jow in a spray bottle especially for my forearms and shins and my iron shirt work. it makes it very convient and less messy. dont worry about when people say to only store it in glass,or that it will eat through pastic. if you have jow that eats through pastic i want to see it and further more i wouldnbt put it on my skin,as it has become a solvent.
tao123chi 1 year ago
As a karate man, I can respect and appreciate this type of training. Especially the Bloodsport reference :)
Don't know if you're familiar with a YouTuber named garrylever06, but he is a Goju-Ryu karate stylist. Many of his conditioning exercises mirrored yours, such as the palm and forearm training, and the hand grip w/the jar. It's funny how so much of karate has been adapted by the Chinese arts, yet we have the eternal karate vs. kung fu debate. Each art has something to offer IMHO.
deek77 1 year ago
Thanks Brother. I think all martial artist have something to offer one another. However you have your history all wrong, it is karate that was created by copying Chinese Kung fu. Karate was originally called "China fist".
duchampscomb 1 year ago
@duchampscomb Yeah hard soft style karate was derived for naha-te but I think its only what about 100 years old? kung fu is ancient. Goju ryu takes from ninjutsu, (the blocks) and mimicks some kung fu, (white crane, cat stance, horse stance). I agree that kung fu was developed way before karate even though I am a karateka myself.
AurumenK 1 year ago
Yep, just look at the history of Okinawan Karate, It will tell the entire story...
duchampscomb 1 year ago
@duchampscomb Wow, just read my comment, I made a serious typo. I meant to say " so much of karate has been adopted FROM the Chinese arts." You're absolutely right, can't believe I made such a huge mistake there. Please excuse me, I meant no offense at all. I should've proofread before I sent it.
deek77 1 year ago
No offense taken Brother. :0)
--I have been in big arguments about this before tho.
duchampscomb 1 year ago
how often do you practice your iron palm conditioning? every day? 3x per week? 2x per week?
MachinShin0000 1 year ago
awesome, you should watch my videos, i'd love your advice. :)
payneman5000 1 year ago
Mainly we avoid fairy tales, the tooth fairy, and the Easter bunny... We use dit da jow and qi gung; Jow is the most important. I personally do not hit anything with my finger tips but the pads of the fingers. As far as the hand conditioning goes we hit everything under the sun a multitude of ways. YOU WILL NOT HAVE HEART PROBLEMS OR CATARACTS (unless you have a genetic pre-disposition). Hand conditioning actually will improve your health. Just use Jow, common sense, and don't be masochistic.
duchampscomb 1 year ago
Now THAT breaking is impressive. Too used to seeing ppl have 1 inch spacers between really long thin bricks and talking smack about how tough they are. No spacers and 2 inch slabs is pro.
shkotay 1 year ago
Thank you Brother. We too are sick of all the fakers and under-skilled acting like "masters." That is why we are here to shed light on the TRUTH and show what REAL breaking looks like...
duchampscomb 1 year ago
@duchampscomb Yah always been interested in learning the actual art. It didnt take long to see the tricks involved in the general breaking we see today in most martial arts (in this case the Shotokan school I was in). I felt like a faker knowing the spacers were doing most of the work. Prob is in my area theres no specialists in this area. Any good reading you guys would suggest for basic intro training in Iron Palm?
shkotay 1 year ago
How do you guys keep from getting cataracts and heart problems from your hand training?
culbriz 1 year ago
Thanks for the question in regard to TCM and oral tradition. What you have to remember this is modern day. You have to put common seance and science with oral tradition to find what is real and what was put in place to discourage people from training or to add the mystical. There is H8 about an inch under the little finger and LI1 under the finger nail on the index finger. I know many people with over 10 years of training, none with hart or eye problems, so judge for your self the truth.

hi, can u please tell me what benefits i can gain from rolling a rollerbar with my arms and where i can get the kind of container in 1:38?
ShaolinKungFuUSA 1 year ago
The rollerbar is used for "iron arm" or forearm conditioning, for blocking and breaking through others blocks. The container you refer to is used for tiger/eagle grip training, traditionally a jar filled with sand or water was used. You can use any kind of container as long as it spreads your fingers into a tiger claw shape. Be well...

May I ask which kung fu you guys practice, beside the iron fist.. is it Hung Gar ?
3333kevin 1 year ago
My brother does some hung gar, bagua, judo, kali. I do wing chun, bagua, and bando (allot like MT). Basically modern day mixed martial artists.
duchampscomb 1 year ago
May I inquire as to where you attained the bar, single arm rings, and the double arm ring?
KingKrimson89 1 year ago
We made the rollerbars from brass pipe and filled it with lead shot as we make most of our training equipment. The rings were bought at WLE (wing lam enterprises) tho.

You guys know of Kuk Sool Won? Korean system of martial arts. Lots of iron palm techniques, but they're all about ki power, there's no need to callous up your hands. Most arts just smash their hands until the nerves are dead. I'm talking single fingertip breaks, people! Kuk Sool! And yes I know what i'm talking about.
