Great lesson! As I wanted to play this song, I listened to this song millions of times (already posted my video). I have a question - in the main riff I can hear Eric Clapton pulls off the 2nd fret on 3rd string (G), and then picked it again, instead of hammering on, except the very first time. Many people as well as you in the video on Youtube use pulling-off and hammering-on at this part. I hear wrongly?
great tone Johnny! Dude you nail that "valve" sound on that thang! Nice execution. Thanks for sharing your fine study of Eric's classico. From accross the pond please check out my site on youtube paying tribute to bros. Duane Allman, Mike Bloomfield and others including B.B. and my Dad at: johnnyguitar335
@nedalust totally agree with you.. but since i dont own a les paul or a 335 at the time, i used the humbucker equipped strat.. BTW, the pickups are tappable to single coils
its just a sugestion but could you maybe go a little bit more in depth on this one and maybe on some more of your videos because your so spot on at playing but if you dont zoom up most people cant see thanks
why does everyone have to list their age with a comment like i love so and so... congratulations!!! im so happy to hear that.... good job on the lesson though not to slow or fast
Great tone, great lesson. It's a song I've played for years, but your lesson has helped me to nail certain aspects of the phrasing which weren't spot on. Incredible the tone you can get out of those little VOXs. Very authentic.
Well I'm using a strat with humvbuckers which helps a lot. Played through a little digital amp (Vox DA15) on a blues setting, not too much gain.. the rest I think is down to the way I play in terms of phrasing, pick attack etc.
Get it straight- Clapton NEVER uses anything but a Fender Strat- his preferred axe is nicknamed "Blackie" (for obvious reasons). Dude is being polite when he says thanks- you obviously don't know your guitars or axemen. You have Slowhand confused with some AC/DC hack or another.
Excellent work ,,nice phrasing,,brkn' out my tex-mex strat,,,,,,,

Great tone, great playing, great lesson but, with no offence, a strat with 2 humbuckers is not really a strat (in my opinion).

Preety good instruction. The only thing is that strats have sustain of a banjo.

If you actually teach it instead of just playing it slowly it's easier to learn from. Great playing though

either way, sounds great.

He does now, but back in his cream days he used a lot of sg's and a es-335 for this I believe.
DizzySaxophone 3 years ago 3
to add up...he had an SG named the Fool Guitar...something similar to his famous Strat branded Graffitti guitar
