  • 依我看詠春拳的精髓就在木樁和黐手。

  • This is pretty random, but Yip Man's clothes look really comfy. I wear almost the same thing at home.

  • Okay someone explain to me how the FUCK could you miss the like button and click on the thumbs down..

  • 好难得的记录、可以让我们初学者能认识宗师的身影。

  • A man dying of cancer and still training! glad to know ive been taught this form, but always open minded. Wish I could have just one lesson from the great Ip man how good would that be :)

  • This video real awesome!yip man rock!

  • Yip man and his Wing Chun dedication

  • I know it is pointless to argue, I can forgive someone for not understanding traditional Martial arts such as Yip man and Wing Chun, but remember this, these styles are made to also be underestimated, mentally defeating you before you even begin the combat. and I know there will be one person here who will say it, MMA can beat anything, before I see that statement, I'll mention that MMA wastes a lot of energy, effective sure, but better? it depends on the practitioner's dedication and practice.

  • and as for the wooden dummy being useless? it is a learning tool, it is designed so you can move against and opponents energy and weight., not mention, it's endurance training for the hands, knuckles, and fore-arms. it is meant to help you perfect your skills and apply what you have learned. and last thing Chinese martial arts was founded thousands of years ago. and every family had their own style. so going with the culture, and that fact alone, insulting something so pure,

  • I have to say some of these comments are a disgrace to everything I have ever believed in, learned, and also taught.

there are to many people who believe that a form is the way the art is faught, I'll say this, no it is not., they are movements. A FORM is for practice and learning.

    but most importantly for health.

Yip man is a legend for a reason.

he taught Bruce Lee, that ALONE should tell you something.

  • GM had 2 wooden dummy in two different room hof his house. see in the video on long pole as exemple.

wich of these is the same on his museum in fashtan ?

  • Thank you, it is always good to see a source of greatness.

  • thank you. this video quality is very good. which version of the footage did you get this from?

  • the style waz generated bye a nun who helped a girl fight a man she couldn't move so yeaaaaaa........ right listen to the retard below if u like

  • To those idiots who don't understand the wooden dummy: it is not a representation of an immobile human being nor is it designed to represent the human anatomical form. It is a representation of an ENERGETIC being. You strike against energy, not a set of arms and legs.

  • Yeah!

Those stupid wooden dummy's make about as much sense as a heavy bag, or a speed bag, or a pell, or kicking a banana tree, or a quintain, or a shooting target. They all make as much sense as a non-resisting human opponent.

Training aids and tools are for fags.

  • The wooden man serves to make one familiar with physical contact when one blocks and strikes. It is a much better way to train than just shadow boxing like the other Chinese Kung Fu styles.

  • 好勁!好犀利!

  • I hope I can function just like that when I am his age.

  • 片中的人, 真的是葉問大師嗎???

  • 你說對了

    他是真的葉問!!!

    不過已經年老

  • i always wonder how practise on the wooden man can help in real life where the target is moving and fight back but the movie IP MAN show that. Is awesome ..

  • There are three basic set of movements where every move serve a purpose (and can be used in real life fighting situation). After learning all 3 set, you then move to learn the wooden dyummy. The practice of the wooden dummy is to allow one to perfect the angles of punch and the various angles.

    Hope that help! cheers

  • The Wing Chun forms are like the alphabet, you can combine what you learn from them to make your own sentences. The wooden dummy just lets you practice with something a bit more animated. Ask yourself this: What good is a punching bag to a boxer?

  • yeah .. it make sense.

  • it's beautiful no one should ruin it please

  • 葉問傳係香港將會有舞台劇,有興趣click入我account,有 trailer!現場睇打鬥,會幾刺激!

  • Yip Man made this footage six weeks before he died, he was 79.

  • isnt that yip man?

  • grenpeter1 i challege ur ability if u can still walk at the age of the 'old man' hehehe

  • So much debate on wing chun videos :/ Can't people just deal with "to each their own"? It's not about which art is better it's about which art is better for you. I wish more people would realise this. I saved this video, it's great to watch the man himself perform his art. I hope clips like this become more readily available.

  • 5 stars!

  • grenpeter1,

    1. The old man wasn't the son. He was the Great Grand Master Yip Man himself.

    2. Your question demonstrated you don't know much about Wing Tsun. So the answer to you is nothing for you to learn from this video.

    3. If you take serious commitment to learn Wing Tsun for several years, then come back to watch this video. Then you may able to learn something. Gook Luck.

    Rgds

    Someone learning Wing Tsun

  • you dont know anything, you just joker, ass hole!

  • Wing TSUN?

Please tell me you're not learning from a Leung Ting school xD

  • you dont know anything, you just joker, ass hole!

  • @raylam87 does "someone learning wing tsun" also mean he does no know much about wing chun, because i'm also learning wing chun, but "tsun" is the white way of writing it. if you have seen traditional signs hung in hong kong, it will say wing CHUN.

  • @raylam87 no disrespect in any way whatsoever, regardless, as you are another practitioner with respect for same art form.

  • grenpeter1,

you learnt nothing from this old man is because you know nothing about Wing Tsun.

Yes, he is an old man, but a well-respected old man by the people.

So, are you really sure you're a wing chun practitioner??????? I doubt. :-)

  • Great Grand Master. You show the right form on how to practice through moving around the dummy. This fighting skill is amazing, and you - master is amazing too. It is my pleasure to watch this priceless demonstration.

I wish and pray you have an eternal happiness in the heaven. Salute!Salute!Salute!

  • WCKuen was created by a woman 'Monk' "Ng Mui".Ie: It's not talking about power or brute force. It's respected by it's martial art method and tech.'Weak wins strong' after learning WCK. It is amazing if putting in boxing.Wooden dummy is not for training strength and force, please don't break it during practicing.

  • a pleasure to watch the great man in action!

  • wow, its really cool to see the grandmaster Ip Man on the dummy...

These videos are treasures in themselves

  • kagolko: why do we always have to fight? Games are great, just wish they had all the calculations of Wing Chun then you might see something special. The 'Ring' is now a spectator sport for competition, not family styles like Wing Chun or even Cha'an Buddhism.

  • yumyeurng108 - a dont fight. I have never been fighting in my life.. and im 22. what im saying is, that this is useless in real fight..

  • If someone has'not fight or maybe sparr how can he speak of what he is seeing ? On the other hand people who havent felt the power that a REAL KUNG FU SIFU can produce out of the movements of the dummy cannot comprehent the point of it.

  • you have no idea how stupid that sounds.

  • oops did not mean for that to show here

  • you r an idiot, u think with ur scrutoms might also fight with them. a mma artist would not think n say what u r saying. muay thai just use brute force and power. it is powerful weapon in sports but does not work against wing chun techniques. i know.. i trained thai boxing and loved it but wing chun is heavenly. wc dont rely on brute force alone or sight.. but on touch, so sensitive it can read ur intentions a mile away n counter at will. much too deep 4 ur scrutoms 2 understand.

  • all these martial arts are nice. especialy in the movies. but if u put these kind of people in to the ring, even if they are 30 and not 75 they have no chance to fight amateur muay thai, tkw fighters.. no matter how many years they have been training.. except shaolins of course..

  • Wing Chun was not created for tournament fighting and it is not used in competition because it is too deadly. It was created to maim or kill an opponent in a few seconds if necessary. It utilizes economy of motion and is designed to finish the fight quickly -- not much room for a show there. It's trained and used in a very close range, something that most other martial arts are very uncomfortable doing.

  • The stuff you see in movies is a flashy version of the traditional style. Cool to watch, but if you really know what you are looking at you will see the effectiveness of the movements.

  • We come from London, and the main influence here has been from the Lee Shing Family. He also learnt from Ip Man, and although he tried to pass on this 'new' HK method many of his students learnt different things and had other ideas about what 'true' Wing Chun is. It IS a language, NOT just an image.

  • Funny you mention to preserve the "pure" wing chun system. One of Yip Mans students in Foshan, Lun Gai, teaches Wing Chun and it has a lot of differences from Yip Mans Hong Kong Wing Chun.

  • Truly a great video. Unfortunately, some parts are missing. I'd encourage everyone who goes to a kwoon where they teach the "true" wooden dummy or "true" chum kiu or "true" siu lim tau to show these videos to your sifu. It's one thing to alter Wing Chun, but it's quite another to misrepresent their form as the "true" form. These videos were made for a reason, hopefully people will remember that. This is how it was supposed to be done.

  • Thank you, to whom ever posted this precious glimpse of Golden History. Yip man triumphed all the way through to his last breath.

  • phenomonal

  • actally I don't think his performance is bad when you consider his age and his filming condition.

I would say he still can give the viewer a clean concept of wing chun.

  • Yip Man passed away in 1972 but just a few weeks before he died, he made sure the various forms of Wing Chun were recorded on 8mm film in order to preserve the pure Wing Chun system. Yip man was very weak during the shooting and had to rest between shots. Ip Chun sold the one and only 8mm of his father to Leung Ting in 1980's for less than $10,000 US. Ip Ching received $0.00 from the sale of his father's 8mm. Today, Leung Ting is the copyright owner of Yip Man's only existing 8mm.

  • Did you really talk to Leung Ting and Master Ip Chun? I think you just heard it from someone. You wouldn't have this BS posted everywhere if you really know them. Poor samuri1882 the rumour listener. BTY, did Leung Ting tell you about that or Mater IP CHUN or Master Ip CHING ?? Poor guy.

  • Leung Ting is an embarresment to his school and to all of WC.

He's just in it for the money, he knows jack shit

  • That's really thoughtful of him
