they were recording the stone of sisyphus and apparently they werent going to use alot of his material....then the label said the album was unreleaseable, so he walked.
@ChicagoKid1969 You're correct, as you can see that's Jason up front, who came on board for 18. The '87 concert WAS the BEST Chicago concert I've ever seen, where they opened up with the 18 version of 25 or 6 to 4. I remember it well, as each slap of the drum was choreographed with pulsating lights to start the show.
An amazing video, ChicagoKid. Thanks so much! And yes, of course it is Danny on the drums as he would be for Chicago 19 too. I've just been at Chicago´s concert this January 15 2011 at Auditorio Nacional, Mexico, and unfortunately they didn't play nothing further to Chicago 17, so Jason couldn´t be heard singing his own hits. It was a great presentation though. Thanks again, I haven't seen this If she would have been faithful performance before, one of my favorites of Chicago songs. Greetings!
@planeagain - Wow - I'm really happy that you pointed out the song set didn't go past 17 - ONCE AGAIN. I LOVE Chicago, but I vowed never to see them live again because they ignore almost everything after 17, but with a few renditions of Look Away or What Kind of Man. I'm tired of hearing the same songs at each concert.
Excellent song! I just wish they'd perform songs from Chicago 18 and 19 when they perform and not just all the "Classic" 60s and 70s stuff. Love them too but dang come on, these songs are just as good!
I dedicate this to my Nasty Evil Ex Wife who I only got together with because she got Pregnant on purpose and I lived in missery with for nine years so that I could be a Dad.
Thank GOD she was unfaithful and I told her to pack her bags,Boy life is great without her,I now get to live and be me again.
Of course I do. But sorry dude, Bailey really don't sell to me. He may be good in SOS but overall, he's fluke. Sorry to say that but just tha's my view on him.
Beautiful song.. really! But in this video, D. Bailey ruin the night with his "non-existent" style. He's really a non-performer, don't have feeling with what he's doing. Glad K. Howland replaced him already..
in the studio producers or even artist push to get that perfect sound, its take after take. you can do it only once live. they get through this smoothly.
I can honestly say this is the best version out there and I'm glad it was found. Who in their right mind wants to hear goddamn mortar shells instead of drums played as well as computerized vocals?
One of the BEST songs ever written! The arrangment, and vocals are superb...3:30 is the best part.I have been listening to this song for years, and Chicago is one of the best bands around...LEGENDS...PERIOD.
Can't you people tell the difference between a compliment and a genuine comparison? I know there is a distinct difference, but if you listen to anyone "live" in the last ten years or even less, they damn sure don't sound this good.
This song is true same thing happened to me. I was deeply in love with a woman but she cheated on me. Yea that hurt but I have a wonderful woman who lovesme to death
This is one of their classics. This sounds extremely good live!!! These guys are one of the greatest bands ever. I get so sick of people always bringing up Peter- he's been out of the band 23 years and is not coming back, so please get over it! I love Peter's music, but I think Jason is incredible also. Anyways rock on Chicago!
agreed, its not fair to compare Jason to Peter..they're on 2 separate spectrum's of the singing scale..Jason is more a studio singer..whereas Peter can sing anywhere anyplace ...But giving credit to jason, this is one of his better Live performances ive seen...People may read my comment and think im bashing jason, but the truth is this is one of if not my favorite Chicago songs of all time!
Great Song and Great Band! If you get the chance to see them in an outdoor summer concert..... If your young or old.... Its an Amazing concert....4 decades of great music!
The only way Jason Scheff ever really sounds like Peter Cetera is turning down the pitch to the songs he sings to a certain level. Listen to What Does It Take with the pitch down a little bit. Scheff's tenor is higher than Cetera's.
Jason seems to have to go rather strainedly into his falsetto or head voice, though, which at times makes for a not so great sound. Cetera, oddly enough, has the same problem now when he's singing "live" in concert.
chicago fan's please stop trying to compare jason to peter peter is far better vocally end of story jason has done some great work and he sounds great doing jason i love his bass playing he is perfect with the band but peter is the man one of the best singers period even now his solo shit is great i hope they can get past all the bullshit and get together before they die somebody make it happen
wow, never saw this clip before, thanks for sharing. I have always loved this song, even more than the other major hits like Hard Habit, Inspiration...cuz the lyrics are so powerful here, the words tell a story and I can so picture it in front of me. Love Chicago, they are touring now so I sure hope they came to Canada!!
I wanted to hear this one live along with more of the '80s tunes but unfortuantely they just played '70s mainly. That and their vocals were strained and not as good as Huey lewis and the News sorry. Still a Chicago fan though! Ty
This is Probably Jason's best vocal on a song since he joined Chicago...The live version is nice ..But the album version is so captivating..nice post!
Oops crap, I misheard the lyrics. Its I would've been cheated. Not I wouldn't have cheated. So sorry everyone, dont talk trash. I admit I was wrong. That just proves more it was MORE DESERVING OF A NUMBER 1 SPOT! CHICAGO RULES!
Funny, I implicitly admitted I was wrong and I misheard the lyrics. And some asshole clicked the thumbs down. Well that's one dumbshit piece of crap. Anyone who sees all the videos I've posted comments in know I love Chicago of any age. Have my critiques but usually they're right. Any if you'r ethe one who clicked that, you know who you are when you read this: fuck you ya idiot.
Don't let it ruffle your feathers, MIP84. Whoever it was, obviously has no appreciation for others sharing their comments and willingness to return and make a correction. Let it be like water off a duck's back so that "thumbs downer" doesn't get you down! I read your comment and saw the need for a correction... "the guy never cheated; he just realizes that if his ex never had and gone her way, he would have never been able to move on to his newly found true love." Good to see you caught it!
Excellent song. People proably didn't like the lyrics enough to make it a number 1 hit. A guy who gets cheated on cheats back, ya know? So I can understand that but I think it deserved a way better reception. I still think it's an excellent song with great vocals and instrumentation. Something Chicago has never ceased to do til this day, despite personnel changes.
yes i would have to agree with ChicagoKid here....if you watched And The Band Played On you would notice that Jason's hair is longer in that video. You should really think about what your typing before you claim to know it all.
For all those out there, who believe in "Darwin's ape Theory" or ,any form of evolution...PROOF... this video demonstrates G-d's (YHVH) divine, masterpiece, "MAN" & woman too( for us ladies)lol- we are created in HIS image. This type of talent was NO accident , my friends.
