  • You know, some fans actually think this version of the band SUCKS. I actually think it's mathematically impossible for a band with these four guys to suck...scientifically impossible, even.

  • Fripp stands out like Shakespeare at a Metallica concert.:P

  • @Jorsalfar Fripp looks, sounds and behaves like an uptight English professor with a Monty Python dry sense of humor. I think he stands out ANYWHERE.

  • Great dance track... did they get the audience from a Duran Duran concert?

  • Oh yeah, I forgot about that episode of Rock of the '80s. I recorded a bunch of those, but only a few had a good band. My favorite was INXS when they were supporting The Swing album.

  • I remember recording this broadcast on Beta video back in the day. "Sleepless, Man With an Open Heart, Elephant Talk, Frame by Frame". I've got a copy on VHS hiding in the dark somewhere. Thanks for posting this!

  • David Byrne +Acid + Sonny Sharrock +Steve Carell = Adrian Belew

  • @egyptianminor Belew never used Drugs...

  • @pootsilu You mean he SAYS he never did; it's much more charming, hip and uncliché if he's simply 'born that way', than if he attained any 'nutty awareness' through semi-synthetic means. Now, having said that, My comment shoulda been written in the easier to understand(?) figure of speech " David Byrne on acid", which means figuratively; he ACTS in a freaky/offbeat way that MIGHT indicate familiarity w/ anyone of those substances - but of course he could be simply imitating David Byrne

  • something wrong with that picture

  • test

  • There has never been a better rhythm section than Bruford and Levin. And Fripp bringing Belew in as a second and highly complementary guitarist was also a brilliant move. Their concerts during that line up were awesome.

  • phenomenal, magical, brilliant. :)

  • sexy bass

  • @wixy20071 I could not believe the studio part to this wasn't some programmed bit, levin is humbling, holy crap

  • 80's Prog. made possible that for the first time in history nerds and popular chicks danced together.

  • Yeah, all of the girls I've known to enjoy King Crimson were great conversationalists but you wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. At the Crimson concerts I attended, people wore ties and dresses... not "I'll flirt with you if you buy me a drink" bar attire.

  • Ah yeah! I remember seeing this when it first aired. :-)

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • Tony Levin is a fucking beast.

  • Love da goils!

  • ha ha...The King Crimson Solid Gold Dancers!?...I haven't seen this video in ages, I've got it on VHS from back in the day but Fripp's guitar was left off the mix!! so its great to hear it finally... this is a blistering performance of Sleepless, much better than the album version...they also did Heartbeat & Elephant Talk on this show...and believe it or not, on (?) Elephant Talk one of the chicky babes is standing in the front row mouthing all the words perfectly as she stares a hole thru Belew

  • This song actually was released on a 12" single with a dance mix, so it's totally apt that they would attempt to gear it towards women. I loved that old video of Fripp talking to some record company execs telling them about 3ofaPP. "Side One is accessable. Side Two is excessive."

  • @Ram44

That's hilarious & so true. The only song on side 2 I can deal with is 'Dig Me'

  • The beat vision by King crimson.

  • "your not ready for the court of the crimson king....at this point in your training that could turn you into an EVIL scientist.."

  • Well... it appears that the entire audience consisted of women. Go figure.

  • there are as many people who dance to crimson as there are women who listen to rush lol

  • yeah whats with the blondie bimbos????if they ugly b@#$%%ds can get that..theres hope for me yet

fantastic track my fave from that collection...hey the bimbos can really jiggle to that music more power to them lol

  • beautiful ladies... great music

  • They're HOTTTT...the band I mean.

  • 2 guitars, bass, & drums -- why do they sound nothing like every other guitar band?

  • That was the 80's , Hot Chicks w/ Nice Titties shaking their ass at a Crimson Show

  • An awful lot of comments about the dancing women...come on, who could resist Adrian Belew or Robert Fripp with clothes and chops like that? It's got the best 'fuck-you-I-like-this-outfit' appeal ever!

  • Seeing as this was a Showtime Production, I highly doubt these babes just happened to magically appear in front of the cameras... Especially for a group like King Crimson, that has almost zero chick appeal... Staged, but effective...

  • @surfdude2000 I was thinking the same thing.

But damn, those dirty white girls were really getting down. haha

  • @surfdude2000 Well it was all staged in the '80....even the playback, except King Krimson played better than their own playback.

  • @surfdude2000 I think everyone can enjoy Sleeples, it's actulally very catchy...

  • @surfdude2000 On the other hand, this is like the ONE King Crimson song I can see the average person dancing to: that bass line...Jesus...Some fans actually think this version of the band sucks. I think it's close to being the best version.

  • I love dancing 80s chicks.

  • @ 2:54 Yeoowzah !!

  • WHY are these girls dancing to this.. Its an incredibly thoughtful disturbing song to groove to.. dance?.. no..

  • @7Rorschach7 I'm sure they're oblivious to the lyrics or the song's subtle complexities. It's danceable, like alot of 80's crimson. I love your calls btw. 11-3

  • @7Rorschach7 don't worry as soon as they started to play industry the energy faded into confusion.

  • Truly a marathon of cranking bass playing! n

  • Hands down my favorite KC song. Call me new wave, but... it kicks ass.

  • great women, great king crimson!

  • All that sound from a regular bass- I'd wondered if Tony was using the Chapman Stick for this song.

  • @beboptube Well, admittedly, a bass running through a digital delay set for 16ths. \m/

  • bassist had incredible endurance

  • those women dancing to king crimson, classic.

  • Something that tells me they weren't dancing to King Crimson. That looks suspiciously like stock footage that was edited in after the fact. BTW, didn't they do another song on this show besides this one? I have a distinct memory of there being another song, one where Tony Levin played a bit of synth, but I have no recollection of WHICH song it was.

  • Slutty braless bimbos dancing to King Crimson... That's one of the strangest things I've ever seen!

  • @mactico

I want to see them dancing to THRAK ...

  • @dragonsrightwing Try Larks' Tongues in Aspic Part I :P

  • @mactico something wrong with that picture.............

  • @mactico What makes them slutty and bimbos? How insulting and small-minded. This and surfdude2000's comment suggest that women are not capable of recognizing and enjoying intricate and challenging music played by deeply talented musicians. It has a great beat! Of course you can dance to it, and that doesn't make one a slut or bimbo.

  • @thegreencat13

    "Dance" to it?

    Wrong verb.

  • Incredible happening!!! Sexy sweaty brawless chicks dancing to Levin/Bruford madly driven rythm! Who's proghead would ever predict that?Poor Robert... The early 80's at their best!

  • Tony is better then Trey anywhere!!!

  • Levin is unreal!! It's a bit funny to watch a pseudo 80's "Limelight" or "Palladium" crowd attempt to dance to it. Certainly one of those songs I will always love.

  • The great Tony Levin on bass!
