  • This is actually a pretty good idea. If your old trap broke just improvise. I really like this, i think i will try it out sometime. Good job man

  • Well Its a Good Fast Trap and Minnow ones do not work near as well as one designed for crayfish/ cradads what ever way you want to say it and the law in some states does say that the trap must have wholes of 1/2 by 1in min around the trap to let smaller fish out. but not the cray fish and also need to havea metal plate on it that has your name and address required by local DNR offices in all of MN and a few other States

  • I understand that making DIY traps can be fun, but honestly you're not saving any money by doing this. You can buy a minnow basket from Wal-Mart for $10 bucks. By the time you buy the wire mesh, the zip ties and waste a day putting it together you could have already gotten a trap in the water. just sayin it's not very practical. If minnow baskets were $30 it may be worth the while.

  • Your the bastered that kill the turtles

  • I think that if it stinks like a fish, it baits like a fish (cut open a dead fish to put in your trap) Bacon works the best in California

  • "it took forever to cut the wires... five minutes..."

  • take a mason jar shove it in to the mud by the water come back in a day or 2 they walk along and fall in

  • i didnt get any crawdads but i cought a baby pike he tasted good thanks works good

    : )

  • you could use tin snips instead of dykes and it would go alot faster

  • hey good tip use the wire and twist it like a twist tie so u have a hinge all u have to do is untwist the the wire and u can open the back of the trap good video though

  • Can you show a video of your product working

  • Bacon or a can of catfood with a few holes punched in the can also will work well for bait for crawfish.Pretty good design on the trap.

  • @badlegend1 i use beef liver

  • 3:35 hahahaha just force it in

  • Those are Cable Ties or Zip Ties...

  • Nice vid, man. Thanks for posting. I think I will give it a try. Question: do you ever have any luck catching crawdads in the winter?

  • thx man :D

  • check CRAWDAD OUTDOORS crawfish trap, it is a different type of crawfish trap and will last longer

  • can fish get traped in there ?

  • Not only that but you could cut the plastic zip tie and just use another one. They sell them in pack of 25 to 1000. Great vid bro thanks!

  • hey ide like to think you i ve made a trap like in 2009 but forgot about and i set it out a week ago and yyesterday i checked it and had 2 huge craws un it

  • CRAWFISH, I BELIEVE...

  • you could make a latch out of thick wires. that might work.

  • nice vid! but what i would suggest is using twine instead of twist ties so if you forget about the trap, the crawdads can escape once the twine wears away. basiccally a smaller version of a crab trap.

  • Wtf Who says crawdad?!!1

  • is the trap go for fish cuz i like your idea but i want to catch fish for bait

  • actually, I thought of the best idea, a small bungee cord with hooks, just stretch it across the door to close it.

  • for a hinge? use a biner and clip it closed, when you want to open it, remove the biner.

you could also use wire and just twist it every time?

  • u sound bored

  • where did you get the chicken wire

  • how do you get them out?

  • use hotdogs for bait it really works

  • zip ties not twist ties

  • tell ya how to make a better one faster. Take a 2' by 2' sheet of mesh wire, wrap it in a cylinder. zip tie. Cut the cylinder ends in fours bout 8 inches deep. Push mesh back into cylider to make a funnel. bait and toss, yur done

  • im sorry bro, but your measurments are fuckin retarted

  • well theres a couple things that are wrong with this but especialy the tube! the whole point is that they can get into a cylinder that sticks out of the side or climb through one for thats matter thats why u need a funnel!!!

  • you can buy a mino trap an do the same thing just as cheap.. an less time.. unless you just wanna kill time.. lol..

  • yep, and to make an efficient latch system, i have always used a small 4-6 or even 8 inch bungee cord...works like a charm, i even have on on my dirt bike with my rear braking system... good vid, and keep it up!

  • You make one good tutorial.

  • Man, I fucking love Wal-Mart

  • remember though people, if you want it bigger all you have to do is scale the pieces up.

  • hi could someone please tell me, would this trap work for any animal or is it just fish?

  • Just use a small nut and bolt with a washer to make a lock to put the bait in the back

  • ass

  • ass

  • can u make a video with the crawdads in it after u caught them

    thanks!

  • awesome design man,its easy to make and real compact

  • Nice compact design I guess... looks like it would only hold about a 1/2 dozen though.

  • cool Video Man!!!

  • another great idea for some fishing bait. you young guys have really got a handle on the process. an old guy like me can appreciate it. thanks

  • bad cameraman !!!!

  • hey next time make a video on where and how to set it up

and the spoils of using the trap

tha stuff usually attracts more attention

    but good job

    i think il try that

  • HOLD THE FUCKING CAMERA STILL!!!

  • zip ties bro twist ies are for bread and wires..

  • Looks solidly constructed very nice handy work. Im sure this'l get some.

By the way, i never knew chicken liver worked so good.

  • how much do you catch in that small trap?

  • man nice video dude first of all easy to make and works and i made one and tried it out caught lots of crawdad thanks for tips!!

  • why didn't you use the wire and "twist" it all together. would have been better than the "zip" ties

  • i think wire would be more complicated.

  • 3:35 THATS WHAT SHE SAID!

  • hahahahaha yea

  • zip tie man

  • check out ( Crawdad Outdoors) how to make a crawfish trap, it is a way better version of this trap, and they are 1 of 3 types of commercial crafish trap

  • crawdad outdoors. you gotta be kidding me. is there really such a following?

  • you're right. i checked it out and it's really good. thanks..

  • lol my nickname is crawdad cuz i love to go crawfishin and it is and outdoors show, but thanks i have made a new and improved trap that know one in the world has ever seen and it works great, after i patent it ill post on youtube to show every one

  • those are zip ties not twist ties

  • @bradballer24 those are cable ties

  • @bradballer24 aren't you the observant one.

  • In the end put wire so you can take the wire off when you have some craws in the trap o.o

  • i catch my crawdads off of corn.... i guess they love corn too

  • i think he likes twist ties lol hahaha

  • give him some credit. at least he tried. maybe that was a prototype!

  • nice job

  • well your crawdad traps don't work at all.. are you catching spiders in your traps? because crawdads cant fit in a hole that small. We caught 103 of them in flaming gorge UT, using a string and chicken on the end. We made delicious tacos that were delicious and succulent.

  • ignerent

  • if the wont fit through, THAN MAKE A BIGGER HOLE DUMBASS

  • yeah they can, i catch em in my minow traps all the time

  • i went camping once and what i did was take a little bit of fishing line, tie it to half of a hotdog, hold the other end and throw it out, then you just watch it and in about thirty seconds a craw dad will come up and latch onto it then you just slowly pull it in and scoop it up with a cup :) it is much easier and faster, and free

  • you should use 2 2 litter bottles and invert the top its cheaper and easier

  • i tried this and the same lobster keeps on pushing against the trap for the bait around in circles i try to shoot it with my bb gun but its not working. what shoud i do?

  • for an easy access use ur wire cutters and make another small hole like the otherside but just dont make the tube then just put the bait through the hole and nice vid i will make 1 soon

  • thanks for the video

  • use a rubber band and a hook to make it easy access to take out crawdads and put bait in. nice vid :)

  • damn, you guys are harsh. This guy just made an 8 minute tutorial which you guys all clicked on b/c you guys are to cheap to go buy one from you tackle shop and you guys are bitching about how he made this..haha. Get real. Nice vid man..sure you could have spent an extra 30 minutes creating a hinge or making a better trap but it works...fast tutorial on how to make your own. as for the size, who cares, if you want to make one the size of your car rblFAG1 go ahead.

  • @Jrocksoft well u no some ppl arnt rich little brats and some ppl get enjoyment out of makin traps and othr things

  • that trap aint big enough to catch a handful of crawdads. might want to rethink your blueprints.

  • you can also use chicken wire or the screen from an old window screen with some stiffer wire to help retain shape

  • crawdad is a crayfish freshwater lobster dumbass

  • last time i checked those are zip ties

  • Try to incorporate heavy duty rubber bands or elastic to make hinges. Even hooks or just lace it up. It aint rocket science. lol

  • or some wire that you can untie and retie

  • what is crawdad

  • like a mini lobster... also know as crayfish or crawfish

  • twist ties? how about zip ties

  • Zip ties or zap straps

  • 3:31 to 3:43 thats what she said moment haha just listen to this part

  • Sure of it haha

  • hi every one i have checked out the one from crawdad outdoors and it is so much bigger and better then this crawfish trap

  • every one check out ( Crawdad Outdoors ) How to make a crawfish trap, they are very good traps

  • go Crawdad!!! u rock!!

  • check out Crawdad Outdoors and watch how to make pro crawfish traps and much more

  • what i just did was took a bucket and found a crawdad and just scooped it up...worked out great!

  • hot dogs work fuckin great

  • its way easier to just take 2 3 litre bottles cut the tops off take one bottle cut the bottom off then staple the two tops on instant crayfish trap dont forget to poke some holes in it for water circulation

  • Just a side note, he is using "CABLE TIES" and not twist ties. Twist ties are the wires to keep a loaf of bread closed and they will rust very fast in the water causing trap failure. Use the plastic Cable Ties as show.

I am making on out of left over aluminum screen wire from my Deck Project.

  • i just started on mine to day the promblem is the gutter gard is a lil to small so it gona be a small pot but owell im gonna go to tsc to get better stuff to make larger pots so hope i can get some once it gets warmer out!!!!!!.

  • for the hinge just attach a wire to one end so it can move. then fasten a spring to the opposite end with a hook on the end so it can hold on and keep the door shut.

  • check out ( Crawdad Outdoors ) we make very good traps and more stuff

  • great idea. made 3 of them today for less than $5. goin to set them out tonight and see if i have any luck

  • well for one out of all the stupid waste of time videos on making traps yours was very good, the only thing id have to say about it if you havent already is make a large square trap 24"x24"x8" wide just for the fact that you can catch so much more in one night with one trap, because a commercial one is like 60 bucks how much does it cost for the mesh?

  • thank you much just what i've bell looking for again thank you

  • use the string 4 the hinge put a couple of loops in it and ya on the other side put some wire and make it so u can twist it

  • thanks ill make one use it and ill send you photos of what i court .......... if ... i court any thing lol

    (:8-])

  • nice vid im goin to go make alot and put em in the river

  • awesome vid 5/5

  • use chicken wire can make bigger traps

  • why in the hell would a turtle bite through the rope?

  • i dont damm now probaly hungray

  • Lol then a turtle comes by and bites your rope and you lose your trap..lol. Use STRONG wire for your "rope".

  • Maybe for a "hinge" for the bait you could use your wire and just untwist it, stick the bait in, and twist it back up! Good luck and you should try it and let me know how it works out.

  • use the zip tys for hinges and use a wing nut and screw to hold it on

  • nice im going to trie that and the nice thing is that my friend and i set his trap and in under 10 min we had 4 fish 2 minno and 2 bluegill (his dad made us take it back up to the house)

  • for bait use chicken liver or fish or any leftover meat. and as for xerke im not sure why yours would collapse i never had a problem

  • @CTOutdoors raw or cooked?

  • use reuseable zip ties for ur baait doors thats what i use on my gallon gatorade crayfish traps but wat u did is sweet itd be awsome if you could make it bigger

  • you call me a fat ass you sound like a pet a file

  • Yeah, I love to pet files. Its pedophile dumbass.

  • I TRYED IT BUT TRAP COLLAPSED

  • cool looks like it will work

  • raw bacon

  • lol waste of bacon why dont yuo eat it xD

  • en meme temps ca c'est trop simple
