  • That's awesome that Letterman's band chimed in. Prolly why Letterman liked it so much.

  • OMAHA BABY!!!! This makes me feel sooooo good! Amazing performance! Suck that down letterman! :)

  • 2 people disliked this.. somehow.

  • GOOSEBUMPS!

  • Tim Kasher kinda looks like Dennis Kucinich haha. Both awesome dudes anyway.

  • Letterman got pwned.

  • I'm still waiting for the day to see these guys live. All I know is when that day comes its gonna be amazing.

  • @JesMartini indeed it will.....indeed it will :) they are awesome live..seen them a few times.....if its a small enough place usually you can get Tim out on the floor with you...tha last time i saw them he had a hold of me and my friends and we were all singing together... i believe it was red handed slight of hand...is amp was cutting out so they played the song with only one guitar and Tim went ape shit it was fuckin rad

  • love these fuck faces's

  • I'll be damned... I'll be fucking damned.

  • Damn! Letterman pretty much sucked their dick at the end that amazingness!

  • Cully fucking Symington is always on Letterman....

  • so goddamned good. i love you, tim kasher.

  • love to see amazing bands get recognition on shows like this..cursive is just great, fortunate enough to see them TWICE

  • Guy on the twelve string says, "mumble mumble mumble."

  • @viddogames lol At 2:12 Tim just looks over at him with a "stop fucking doing that" glance. Priceless.

  • What a howl Tim has

  • @pageseventyfive I'd call it a 'yawp.'

  • One person didn't get any action from the hips.

  • this is one of those "HOLY SHIT" bands

  • it's a jcm 900

  • I believe it's a a jcm 800 head.

  • Ha, he uses a Marshall head and runs it through a Mesa Boogie Cab! Thats exactly what I use? Now I wonder what Kinda head that is

  • Fucking awesome performance

  • @iilovelove5 From the Hips

  • I love that at 3:25 and a couple times after you can see Paul Shaffer's shadow rocking out while he watches. Very nice performance.

  • most unique voice ever. lovei t.

  • i get shivers every time.

  • I'LL BE DAMNED!

  • this song, and this performance of it in particular, nearly brings tears to my eyes.. it's just that f*cking good. i wish nothing but the best for this band. great guys.

  • thats my hometown mothalickas, cursive plays free shows on the street and outside venues sometimes.

unfortunately most of our local music doesn't survive, no matter how great it is.

    like these guys for instance:

    myspace dot com/eustacekills

check out the last 3 tracks on their music player

    myspace dot com/thephantomsignal

    miss this band too

  • @alphaguitar2 I just checked out those bands, great stuff!

  • @HeroineandtheHeroes :) I think so.

  • I don't think that Cursive is the greatest band musically, they're good, but not super incredible. But God Damn this guy can write some stunning lyrics, not to mention he translates his passion and pain through his voice well. You can tell these words mean a lot and that, I think, is one of the big reasons that Cursive is a great band.

  • @aandw89 Haha your right. His voice is awesome, and even better with the emotion in it. But its ironic, because "Art is Hard" explains that its stupid to write a song with that passion, and then have to fake that pain every time he sings it at a gig, just like this

  • @aandw89 whats super incredible to you? some stupid prog shit? go fuck yaself

  • best video ever.

  • You know David Letterman listened to that CD on the way to his house after that.

  • that was fucking brilliant! i haven't listened to cursive since the ugly organ... i've been a fool all these years!!!

  • 3:24 even the sound guy is rockin' out.

  • @NikNackFattyWhack LOL! Good eye!

  • woop omaha

  • Comment removed

  • Love it! Can't stop listening to it...

  • Rock and Roll. Dig it...

  • cursive makes me proud to be from omaha.

  • yeah, who's laughing now bitches

  • I wish I had his voice...

  • it's never been the same since gretta left

  • I love how at the beginning, when Letterman says "Mama, I'm Swollen," everyone laughs, and some females say 'ew,' but at the end when he tries for another laugh, everyone is too busy cheering and applauding Cursive.

  • what the fuck, that was sick

  • OMAHA NEBRASKA!!! I'LL BE DAMNED!!!

  • kick ass!

  • im a cursive fan, and ive always thought this performance was shit. horrible actually. they have more in them than this, trust me.

  • @warshipsatan1 no doubt about that man, their old stuff is amazing, but this one isn't too bad I like it. If you haven;t, check out their show in the shock sessions website, that is an amazing performance

  • @warshipsatan1 Are you kidding? I meant the drums and guitar were off a couple times, but Tim's performance and vocals were fanfuckingtastic.

  • What song is this?

  • @johanthepirate it's called "from the hips"

  • just saw these guys in San Diego last night. SO much better live than not

  • best live band!

  • tim, you're so cute when you censor yourself (and when you wear a suit that's too big) ;)

  • OH MY GOD! SIMPLY AMAZING!

  • letterman always has the best alternative acts

  • WOW, IM BLOWN AWAY.

  • domestica was the greatest record

  • Man.. One of those band you are grateful to have fell upon or turned onto.. The Lament of Pretty Baby is one of the most amazing songs I have ever had the privilege to listen to. Although, I think Happy Hollow is a masterpiece. I unfortunately cannot decide as you did with such a bold statement.

  • I recognize the drummer from Gutter Twins. I assume this is his regular gig and the Twins was just a one-off thing?

  • oh cursive is so cool...

  • haha you're awesome

  • Gotta love how they tell Dave they're from Omaha, NE. Hey, Dave, only 30 min away from the "Home Office."

  • This video made me fall in love with this band, thanks!

  • from our hips we dont give a *jumm*...

  • quite surprised tim would censor himself. sure they're gonna censor it afterwards anyway... but i think it reveals how self-conscious they were here. great performance though.

  • it was live

  • I love Cursive, I wasn't huge into happy hollow - I think I missed gretta a lot...but this is so so good!

  • Gretta was a great asset. I had to re listen to a lot of Happy Hollow but I got around to liking most of it. I think they were at their peak at Burst and Bloom.

  • Fantastic showing.... keep it up Tim!

  • Conor oberst+Isaac Brock= Tim Kasher's Voice.

  • no mandolin?

  • thanks. you're a genius!

  • Hahahahahaha

  • Wow, that was bitchin when the horns came in. Brilliant.

  • bitchin' indeed

  • Holy fucker! I was ready to be bored, and I was a little at first, but ferret12 is right "intense" is the word here.

  • I've heard quite a bit of music on Letterman, this is the most intense song I've heard on here.

  • @ferret12 I thought ready, able by grizzly bear was a little more intense, but thats just me.

  • Aaah I haven't heard that one. I'll check it out and possibly change my mind. :)

  • is that Cully on drums?

  • I'm going to see them 6/17. Sooo stoked.

  • i'd never heard of these guys before and the other night when they were on i was like who are these douche bags. 3 minutes later i'm speechless.

  • such a good band...flawless performance.

  • Cursive is the shit. Letterman was at first like, "Psst. Who the fuck are these guys?", but after the song he was astonished. You can tell when he asked Matt where they were from. Such a versatile band they are.

  • @DaRocker21 The same thing happened when My Morning Jacket played on Conan. Had no clue who they were and after they played "One Big Holiday" he goes, "WOW!!!! THAT WAS GREAT!! I AM BUYING THAT RECORD!!"

  • Man that rocked so hard when the horn section came in. Beautiful.

  • thats pretty awesome that the horn section from letterman's band all jumped in. i love shit like that. remember max weinberg jamming with death from above 1979?

cursive on their own were pretty great on this too, but i still really miss the cello! the new album is good but would have been an a++ with it

  • Just click your heels 3 times, then pray to god then write a letter to Santa Claus. When you wake up the new album will be filled with cellos, organs and sound just like the UGLY ORGAN. Oh wait...maybe that's what they were trying to avoid? Repetition...

  • @spinecraft do you know if that dfa video is on youtube?

  • everyone needs to listen to Cursive

  • hahahah look at paul shafer rocking out at 3:24 ! hahah he's enjoying Cursive too!!

  • great performance! im so happy with "mama, im swollen", i loved the ugly organ, i liked happy hollow and right now Im at the edge of falling in pure sweet love with mama, im swollen. but where the eff is cornbread?!

  • he's in compton

  • boom doom tissszzzzzz

  • dang. they did a really good job.

  • tim's vocals are so freaking sweet!!! all the time!

  • where's cornbread?

  • I was wondering the same thing...

  • Good, I was hoping I could find this on here.. just saw that I missed it.

Great stuff! Amazing that this is their network debut, but couldn't have asked for a better introductory performance.

    3:11 looks fierce

  • can't believe i missed this.

  • Ooh, I just ordered this CD from SaddleCreek, can't wait to give it a listen all the way through.

  • Just wonderful. The new cd grows on me more and more everytime I listen. When the brass kicks in on this song... oh man. Just amazing.
