No, really???? I didn't know that. Try towing with the Tundra and then a 3/4 or 1 ton DIESEL (not a gasser, and not the gasser 6.0 which you randomly brought up for no apparent reason related to my comment) and you will see why 1/2 tons are USELESS for towing anything but jet skis, you dolt.
Well thats not entirely true but you can't compare any gas truck to a diesel. And since the 6.0 is the stock motor in the 3/4 ton chevy it does make sense to compare them. Now on the other hand how many people actually tow more than 10,800 pounds.
A Hemi 1/2 ton RAM towing my 4,800lb Jeep just seemed to struggle to keep it in check compared to a (brand withheld) diesel 3/4 ton that I used a few years back. My point was that it's not just about maximum capacity - the 3/4 ton trucks just feel much more stable with the same amount of weight being pulled (spring rates, frame strength, brakes, etc.). I can only say just try it and you will be amazed at the difference in stability alone. Add a diesel and it's no contest.
I've driven a dodge ram 3500 with the Cummins and single rear wheel, yeah it handles better under load but the tundra does it no problem. You are right about the stability but the tundra it is very stable under load. The problem with diesels is that they are so huge and so heavy. The tundra my friend drives is a 2008 TRD Regular cab short bed, so it has 381 horsepower and 401 Lb Ft. torque with 4:30 gear ratio so it pulls really well for a truck that weighs in just over 5,000 Lbs.
