Does this bend while turning or scuff in a turn? Im really thinking about getting one. I have a lower truck and pull motorcycles with and think this would work great at keeping the weight off the truck.
IN CANADA, you can only have 2 units in tow, and only if the 1st unit is a 5th wheel trailer the 2nd can be a ball hitch, but not 2 ball hich trailers
@arnoldcustom wrong. you can tow tow balls or pintels in Canada. but! must be a commercially registered vehicle and you MUST have a non restricted Class A or 1 (depending on Provence). in ontario the A license is required to tow doubles no matter what the set up or use.
That just looks like an insurance/safety nightmare! Not only is it an additional axle, moving parts, and 2 more tires to worry about, but it gives the owner an excuse to tow more than should be towed because the "hog" holds the weight. Granted, they can put on a "warning sticker" or a line in a manual, but the one person that skids off the road into a bus full of nuns will have the jury's side! Also, what happens in a strong crosswind situation? It's another pivot point to aid in a jack-knife!
even with this contraption still dont help with the heavey wear and tear on the factory breaks and the truck or car who ever isgoing to get the bright idea to use this with a car and camper will over load and burn their breaks up.
alright, I'm not going to say use the right vehicle, but I will say this. Physics tells me that is now a pivot point. Instead of putting weight on the back of the vehicle is is now trying to pick up the back of the vehicle up. Taking away that weight will now cause and easier jack knife if ever having to stop quickly. say if you have 800lb of tonge weight, now you are taking away from the already light trucks rear end. I see this as a fault and dangerous. Thanks for reading.
Not sure I agree with this contraption. If you still have to stay within the weight limits of the receiver/GCWR then what is the point. This doesn't make it safer, it is just something else to break. Adding failure points to a system does not make that system safer. Stay within your safe vehicle towing capacities, and avoid this lunacy.
just 2 more tires to blow out on the way to your camp ground or a nice weekend of boating, you will need to carry 2 more spare tires to cover this thing.
This isnt designed to make your 1/2 ton a 3/4 ton. Yes we even overload 3/4 tons. This is designed to allow one to tow right up to the limits of the vehicle and do it safely. The type of vehicle doesnt matter.
This looks a complete waste of money. To me, it looks like there is no extra braking give by having this, so this looks like something to take the excess weight of the back of the towing vehicle or tow hitch, where if the trailer was loaded correctly, There would be no excess weight on the tow hitch. SO WHAT DOES THIS DO ???????

What a hassle... just use the correct tow vehicle.

It is a third axle on the tow vehicle that does not caster or have brakes?

it makes you trailer air ride thats pretty niffty

No, it doesn't. It's simply a buffer, the truck and trailer are still what control the truck. It appears the hitch hog adds some stability.

where can you get one?

Get a tow vehicle that can handle the load instead of buying this load!

It can be used with or without a weight-distribution system. It can also be used alone if you are carrying heavy loads at the back of your vehicle!
