This model has--in my opinion--very beautiful, feminine hips. Women who erroneously believe that they will become too muscular if they lift weights would see how wrong they are if they view this obviously feminine young lady deadlifting.
It took me 4 - 6 months to transition from conventional to sumo. It takes awhile for your body to get used to it. My back thanked me for it, and the end result was I could deadlift the same weight as I could squat in competition.
Dumb question from me: Is the Sumo style of deadlift okay to use in powerlifting competition? I don't know if they dictate how far apart your feet are or how you determine whether the lift is complete. Sorry to ask a stupid question.
you know..if youd stop at the bottom rather than bounce it (even though you arent bouncing it much, youre still creating false momentum) youre start off would be much faster
id be willing so say that you have been lifting a while and youve deadlifted like that the entire time, because youre lockout is fast as hell, but your start off is slow as dirt
if you knew anything about sumo, you'd know that off the floor isn't quick unlike conventional where you can be quick off the floor. but once you get it to break, then you fly thru lockout.
This vid was 17 months ago, I've improved greatly since then. this particular vid was only my 4th time attempting sumo. I was still a baby at it.
@suterp you know what you are talking about! Make sure you keep pulling slow at the beginning. Two reasons: 1) The wieght gets heavier. 2) Prevention of injuries. Iam pretty sure you already know this. Keep it up!
David, I've sinced switched back to conventional with a 308 max bcause my hams were weak with sumo style. I can get a decent 305 max with a metal dl suit in sumo but raw is only 205 before i really lose my form & pull with back vs starting pull with leg drive. I respect sumo style but prefer conventional. How about you?
Woohoo! CLUTCH :-D My first thought as well! Am currently doing separate squats / shoulder presses. I might as well just incorporate them all in to this and get more cardio as well! Great idea!
Great form. I find it easier to keep the back position correct when looking at the ceiling, but I like to look in the mirror to see my form, catch 22. Having long legs, short torso, the sumo is much easier for me then standard deadlifts.
im impressed

You need a running machine, get up at 6pm dont eat breakfast and run for 1hour, then maybe try some deadlifts.

@truebit You need an appreciation of a real woman's body, apparently.

@ericarmstrong1. There are three stances accepted for competitive powerlifting: conventional, sumo, and modified-sumo.

not stupid at all, to be truthful I would bet 100 bucks its not. Got to go with traditional style and full squat. Not half

@ericarmstrong1 sumo lift is fine. works very well for some and not so well 4 others
MrKf1984 1 year ago
@ericarmstrong1 i'm pretty sure i used a sumo style deadlift at my powerlifting comp.
fubu30086 1 year ago

Nice pulls, your form looked good. I definately prefer sumo over conventional.

Make sure to deload the weight each rep.
Also, it looks like a wider stance might suit you better.

should always re-set your position for each lift. only has to take a fraction of a second with high rep weight.
