  • awesome

  • might let one of mine go ive 4 280s in the shed been there years, when the machines close down

  • @starmaidens1 I've two now, both fully working. Repaired and restored by myself. Love them.

  • Sounds beautiful!

  • Analog synths rule!!! thumbs up if you agree

  • best sound in the universe, fact

  • just popping back for another hit.

  • Nice one!

  • Thats some coffee table table you got there my friend!!!

At the moment my coffee table (203a) is 95% restored to ALL its former glory... and I can't wait to pick it up in a few days from the shop when it is closer and closer to 100%. These buggers are problematic sure, but there are many simple things you can do to them to alleviate their design faults... Such as switch all LEDS to modern ones ... LOVE this sound! Good work!!!

  • Mmmm, is that really played from a Polymoog 280a...??

  • nothing sounds as beautiful as this Vox Humana sound ! ! !

  • It was hard to avoid.... I suppose it was a shame.... but they didn't even try....

  • if this is busted give me busted any day

  • If that's what a busted sounds like, I can't help wonder how non-busted sounds. This performance was so atmospheric... Cue mental-visuals of super-industrial dystopic future!

  • Busted my arse !!! it sounds awesome - such a beautiful sound

  • What a great sound, puts the hairs on the back of your neck up!!

  • I still have the Wembly concert video on VHS somewhere I am sure. Micromusic it's called, isn't it? I still remember the Replicas into as the lights flashed across the top of the stage, like something out of Close Encounters. Farewell concert? 30 years on almost and he's still gigging. Brilliantly too. I went to see him in Manchester in Novemer and it was fantastic. I've yet to see him on tour promoting new stuff although he did some of the new stuff in Manchester. It was excellent.

  • Please don't let the moog die.....What a sound, What a tune !!!!!!!!!!

  • what a wonderfull machine and espacially this vox humana sound. This sound almost would make you feel like crying.

  • NICE!

  • that sounds awesome

  • A polymoog would sound wonderful in Faure's Requiem. (Has anyone ever tried?) Especially in a cathedral!

  • Older synths are tempermental, that's for certain... So are old carb'd turbo-cars, or old Italian super-cars. But much like them, what they give out is worth the trouble they put out.

Hey... Can you imagine applying a little license to the end of that intro, to lead it into "Cars"? I can.

  • I think PolyMoogs came busted right from the factory ;)

Busted or not...this tune sounds great!!

    Nice work!

    *****

    64m >:-)

  • If it's busted, is there any chance of you selling it?

  • aaah, Vox Humana... such an unearthly beautiful sound ! ! !

  • Wow, that sounds good even broken!

  • Dead again, bot fixing it no more, gonna be a great coffee table!

  • Don't do that, let me have it I'll fix it !

  • You dont want it, just hit you head against a wall a few times and youll understand why!! lol

  • Bloody excellent.

  • Please keep this poly alive brother beautiful sound, beautiful machine, great playing. Which VST would you rcomend, as i have been messing around with FL. Reason, Cubase and cant find anything near that.

  • There really are not any VST's i have found that mimic the polymoog and its construction but, if its just the Vox humana sound your after, the closest i have got to it is with the KORG polysix VST. check my other video using the polysix vst for the same intro and playing the numan song M.E

  • Busted !! WTF that's a beautiful sound ! do whatever you need to keep this incredible sound with us. As a true Numan fan I say to you - Respect !

  • Rads as in "Radiobeach"?

  • despite all ur tehnology now days,, they dont make them like that anymore do they Rads?

  • lol no they make them work when you turn them on haha, i tell you what though, many VST's can get so close now its unreal, i can go out on stage with a laptop and a midi keyboard and recreate polymoog sounds very faithfully, albeit not strictly completly analog. to someone who knows what it sounds like its un noticable. my 203 (when it works) doenst have vox humana, but i can get pretty damn close in VAR mode, its the same with the VST. best one i found so far is the OP-X pro. bloody brilliant

  • Was this made with an MXR phase filter added ? Sounds awesome :)

  • no, i played straight into the line in to the computer into nero wave editor, then added a phaser and fine tuned filtering in nero as the filters on my moog go to shit when used to much grrr

  • Apparently busted Polymoogs are the best!

Really good Polymoog performance = Bach composing at a church organ.

I love the lower registers of these instruments, simply adore them.

  • Got to admit, I keep coming back to this myself. One of my favourite favourites.

  • is this the raw poly or do you have some effects on there too?

  • there is a reverb on there

  • Its raw poly recorded into the line in on my computer into nero wave editor then i added a phaser and a bit of reverb, and then tweaked some filtering as the filter sliders on my moog play up when messed around with too much,

I hate it but love it, its like an old car, its a bastard to start, runs like shit but you love it for being like that lol

  • Yes! I sold my broken one. A friend has promised me his, but he is touring all the time and never gets to it. Amazing synths but so hard to find a 100% one..

  • Sounds good! I have checked this video out several times and still enjoy the sound. I finally got me a polymoog 280a with the legs for 300.00USD. It is going to need a little work, but it is going to be nice to have that great moog sound.

  • sounds good to me!

  • Classic Gary Numan using the song "Replicas" as the backing track for this vid. NICE!

  • Now That is the pure sound of the polymoog! im tellin numan about this....!

  • It's a not bad. Sounds kind of different from my two Polymoog's (a preset version & synth). You should have done a video of you playing the actual synth. That would have been nice to see. Glad you have nursed it back to health.

  • How much is a restored one of these worth? i bloody moved it the other day and it was playing up on a few notes. i remebered what my mate had said about the polymoog, so i opened it and pushed all the cards back in, works fine now lol

  • I am so happy to hear that. You are one of the blessed to own one. That is like a birthday present every day.

  • Sounds Great! Can you throw it away in my neck of the woods?

  • GREAT...Great....great...so vintage!!

  • Thank you all for you wonderful comments, just proves that the £150 quid i paid for the moog was worth it. Thanks

  • The Lemon Kids says....

    beautiful rendition - awesome!!!

  • Busted or not, nothing can beat the Moog sound!

    Sounds great, RADS190. :)

    64m >:-)

  • all the people giving this negative comments, give it a break lads, remember its not the 280 version, for a start the 203 isnt capable of vox humana, there are some differences in the circuitry, this is a bllody good rendition, and i doubt anyone in numans old band would criticise this sound, good one mate, you do what you can with the gear you have, i wish i had either version of the polymoog.

  • i don't think this is the 280 model, but the 230 model. The 230 don't have Vox Humana circuit, but have somekind of strings sounds.

  • Hello, you are corrrect, mine is a 203 model with the crappy presets. i tried my best to make the vox humana sound found on the 280 keyboard version. i think it sounded ok'is but as you can hear (apart from louse youtube losses) its very distorted and knackard. Atm my friend and myself are working on it trying to replace as many of its internals with new componants to try and bring it back to life.

  • Ive already built a new power supply for it as the original was very poor in giving a good, stable output. all the filter sliders are now new along with its oscillator circuits. if it doenst fix it, expect to see it on ebay within the next few weeks.

  • haha id buy it!

    it sounds amazing!

and im honestly not being sarcastic, it sounds great bbecause its busted!

but im afraid i have no cash :(

  • hi, thanks for the comment, i dont think i'll be selling it now, me and my friend have been working on it and nearly every discrete replaceable componant has been replaced with its modern counterpart. it now turns on and works fine apart from one problem, due to differences in companants due to manufacturing, its terribly out of tune now lol. not bad for £150 and spending about £200 on bits for it. just need to touch up the case now and give it a long overdue clean and polish.

  • Bang on mate....nowt wrong with it.

You would imagine only the likes of Gary Numan, Chris Payne, Billy Currie and Dennis Haynes would be fit to criticise.....

  • thank you for your comment, i listen to it and wish it was perfect but you can hear the 30 years of abuse this machine has had. i found it in our local junc auctions still with its box, all mouldy and grotty. paid 150 quid for it and its costing me some money now buying the parts for it.

  • You cant beat that polymoog sound .Nice.

  • you haven't quite programmed the Vox Humana patch correctly. Not bad though but give me the Wembley intro any day over this.

  • remember that the polymoog was dying when i recorded this, but the only way to recreate that atmosphere is to be at wembly, have the big speakers and the atmosphere lol thanks for you comment.

  • OMG Coooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • **Yogojack. I accidently clicked remove instead of reply on your comment. i got the moog about 6 months ago from our local crap auctions. thank god nobody was there who new how valuble they are lol.

  • ****LITTLE UPDATE****

The old polymoog has finally given up now, the lights come on and thats it, press keys, nothing. RIP polymoog (till i got the money to buy you some new guts)

  • thank you

  • good job...and good advice...play it loud.
