Ich kann mich an zwei Konzerte erinnern, beide schon lange Zeit her. Einer der Sänger war ein sehr guter Freund von mir, er hat erst in der ersten Reihe gesungen; beim zweiten Mal sang er eine der Männerstimmen. Im Jahr nach seinem letzten Auftritt wurde er bei einem Autounfall getötet. Vielen Dank fürs Hochladen; es erinnert an Alexander Bastian, einen besonderen Menschen, der in unseren Herzen einen Ehrenplatz hat.

Ich war 5 Jahre dabei bin jedoch leider ausgetreten was ich sehr bereue. Diese Konzerte waren so toll. Man konnte den Menschen in die Augen schauen und man sah wie sie sich freuten wie man sang (: es war wirklich die beste zeit meines Lebens. Der Bielefelder Kinderchor gehört einfach zu Weihnachten dazu.

I had their album "A German Christmas" when I was a kid in the 1960's. This carol still moves me to tears. What a signature song to be remembered by. It really would be the ultimate to see them in concert at Christmastime in Bielefelder. (I believe it's known as "Oh Thou Joyful Day" in English.)

I had this album too! Actually, I still have it packed away in a box somewhere. It was my favorite Christmas album, and and I used to crank the volume all the way up on this song "Oh du froehliche", and then play it several times.

The choir ended the first song and was starting the second and whoever was doing the recording, turned off the recorder, then restarted it when the choir started singing again. You know people who post on YouTube are mostly amatuers, not professionals. This sounds like it was recorded by someone with a video camera sitting in the audience, not a professional, and then they just decide to shar it. I'm glad they decided to share it with us.

Actually no, the words they are singing in this VERSION are German, but the tune itself is very well known as;  O Sanctissima as I posted. Im sure there are dozens of variations in the actual words and languiages as well as translations, but I happen to know this piece and it's in the hymnals as O Sanctissima. It was also played in 'Bells of St Marys" with Bing Crosby and in the movie the dialogue said the name was O Sanctissima.

O Sanctissima is a Roman Catholic hymn in Latin. It is claimed that the tune of the hymn is Sicilian. The tune is sometimes called Sicilian Mariners Hymn or Mariners Hymn.

The words of the first verse of the hymn in Latin are: O Sanctissima, O Piissima Dulcis Virgo Maria Mater amata, Intemerata Ora, Ora Pro Nobis

Obviously the original latin words were translated into other languages, and this version they were totally changed.

Sorry servus, but a youtube search for o sanctissima will pull up identical tunes. As this desc says it dates to 1794, quote; Roman Catholic hymn, first published in Latin around the year 1794.

There are a number of versions in English as well as German but they are not translations. The original Latin text is a tribute to Mary's state of purity and grace and asks her to pray for us.

Ich weiß nicht, wie du auf diesen alten Kommentar gestoßen bist, aber wenn ich mich so schreiben sehe, bin ich selber erschreckt.....Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, so etwas jemals geschrieben zu haben, es klingt nicht nur furchtbar dumm, es ist auch furchtbar dumm. Das ist aber auch über 2 Jahre her, seitdem habe ich deutlich mehr Lebenserfahrung. Der Kommentar gehört gelöscht, aber naja das krieg ich grad irgendwie nicht hin.

@hugoschneckerich59 Ich glaub meine Mutter hat mir damals eingeredet, ich hätte zum BKC gehen sollen, weil das für eine musikalische Laufbahn förderlich gewesen wäre. Vielleicht hab ich mich da über mich selbst geärgert. Ich will das nicht als kindliche Naivität abstempeln, aber inzwischen lasse ich mir nichts mehr einreden und schreibe bei Youtube irgendwelche total dummen, überzogenen Kommentare (über die ich jetzt eher lache bzw. eher weinen sollte, wie bei diesem video hier).

@hugoschneckerich59 Und (das soll auch der letzte Kommentar sein, leider sind das immer so wenig Zeichen, die in einen Kommentar passen): Inzwischen mache ich selber gerne Musik und das als Hobby (was mir aber sehr wichtig ist). Ebenso kenne ich einige, die im BKC singen und da viel Spaß dran haben. Dass das auch nicht mehr ist und sein soll, ist auch gut so. Ist zwar nicht Meins, aber ich würde nicht mehr auf die Idee kommen hier so was Unüberlegtes und vor allem Falsches zu schreiben.
