  • And people wondered why the structural fatigue set in quicker than expected lol

  • Got one on permanent display, open at several Open Cockpits per year, at Merced air museum (Calif., by ex-AFB). B-52, B-36, B-47, etc., too.

  • shes beautiful! :)

  • lol how can u build something like that and

    get away with it.

  • This was the last time I saw 558 until today, when she displayed at Culdrose, over 18 years later! I was at Biggin with a mate who'd never seen a Vulcan before and he thought I was exaggerating before the event, but he was totally gobsmacked.

  • Wow, after being used to seeing vids of the restored Vulcan flying in the last couple of years ,its amazing how aggressively the plane took off!!! There is no way they would try that on the only current flying airframe. I guess people will be saying the same about the Eurofighter in 50 years time :)

  • My god! I was there!!

I seem to remember that there was some delay to the airshow as the Olympus engines of the Vulcan took a small section of the skin of the tarmac off the runway and they had to rush out and skim it..... I bought my first air band radio at that show as well, and i remember listening to the conversation between the tower and a Russian MiG pilot who had been delayed due to the emergency runway resurfacing! Fascinating stuff!

  • I feel so sorry for the youth of today I first flew the Vulcan[as a co pilot ]at 21,but I did have over 600 hrs on the Canberra.GET SOME IN

  • Away she goes!!!

  • That take off, can you imagine being there???

    What power.
