Just a few problems with Mark Steyn's little lecture here. First of all, his obviously researched comment about "How could he find a theater that wasn't destroyed?" I don't know, Mark. It might have been because Detroit has the 2nd-largest theater district, 2nd only to New York. Also, Detroit's literacy is higher than cities in the south, in New Jersey, and in California. And people have been taking pictures of poverty in America for about a century, (Dustbowl, deep South, Tennessee Valley, etc)

@SolomonGrundy The statute of limitations has worn out on blaming Bush. The real reason for this current downturn other then the normal up down cycle of economics was caused by the Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac mess bestowed upon us by mostly Democrats and a few Misguided Republicans. They were forced by elected officials to make loans to many that should have never had loans and the predictability of non repayment was warned by some Conservatives then ignored by Progressives! Economy crashed period.

@dsmith6289 Despite the picture furiously painted every day by our leftist mainstream media, most Americans are now acutely aware of the Progressivist/Leftist/Marxist/Socialist/Collectivist (all essentially the same historically disastrous doctrine antithetical to our founding principles of individual liberty & limited govt.) policies that control the Democrat party. A massive majority of Americans are profoundly committed to returning the U.S. to its timeless founding principles. 2010-now 2012.

@dsmith6289 Yes Detroit's failure has nothing to do with being blackest city also least diverse 90% black metro that is winner of the Highest violent crime rate in America.There is no metro retail grocery chain in metro Detroit. Over 900,000 blacks live off small Arab run rip off stores Keep blaming White man.What about when America turns into Detroit?Who you blacks going to blame try looking in the mirror Black are the devil they claim the white man is statistics all over the world prove it.
