This doesn't operate the chronograph. The wheel at the center rotates when operating. And, it can be seen.

  • Is this movement when you use the chronograph function?

Can you also see the seconds wheel rotating when you don't use the chronograph or is it hidden under the bridges?

    Anyway, thanks for posting!

The guys at the bar always get jealous. I look tight with the jean shirt, levi pants, and some snake skin boots.

  • ola

  • Beautiful

  • Rolex is better

  • sorry nothing fancy about it,too common

  • i just love mecanic watches

  • i trashed mine(speedmaster 1969) in a motorbike accident,beyond repair.......several years later,still yearning for it

  • @UserNamei5

I certainly donot dislike Rolex having owned four of them over the years but when one is offered just over £21,000 for three watches that i paid just under £4000 for quite a few years ago it was an offer too good to miss.

My Speedmaster 50th Coaxial with that incredible wooden inlaid box and tool kit is off another planet. I will never part with No 1658 until i die.

  • wow pure quality

  • its like watching poetry

  • @gcoochy its like watching PORN

  • @gcoochy Eehhh...no, you LISTEN to poetry...this is porno for geeks!

  • @DemonCisco no porno for geeks is star wars this is porno for jewlers

  • wicked

  • a work of art,,, Rolex can't touch that

  • Which movement is this?

  • this is art...

  • I don't think the speedmaster does, it is a manual wind watch. First one on the moon? (Not having gravity to wind it up)

  • So...what time is it?

  • Time to buy an Omega Speedmaster pro!

  • @cmomofilm is this the kind of watch that buzz aldrin had when he was on the moon?

  • This video is the back of the watch, it shows the calibre, so you can't see the time....

  • i quite dont get it yet, whats so special about them?

  • The build quality is very very high and its also the only watch to be worn on the moon as it works in all kinds of atmospheric pressures and zero Gravity. I believe Buzz Aldrin wore one.

  • not really my friend ..check zenith zero gravity watch... that one is a bad ass

  • so do digital clocks :p ... sorry..

    question in general:

I know how digital clocks work, I know how pendulem clocks work, but how do these clocks... or.. waches work? what drives them?

  • The movements of the wrist of the person wearing the watch rewinds the watch and makes it work. That's the beauty of these things

  • I believe this watch is hand-wound, not automatic.

What drives them is a wound spring, slowly unwinding.

  • Omega believed that an automatic movement wouldnot work in zero gravity space but have been proved wrong.

Over the years several digital and automatic chronograph watches have been worn on the Space Shuttle and all have kept excellent time.

We now know more about zero gravity than we did in the 1960s.

  • Yes he did, and actually he was the first human to wear the watch on the moon.

Niel Armstrongs Speedmaster remained on the Eagle Lunar Module as the crafts timing gear malfunctioned.

Armstrongs Speedmaster is on display at the Kennedy Space Centre but Buzz Aldrins historic first one worn on the moon was stolen on his return to Earth and nobody knows where it has gone.

The Omega watch movement is especially fine up there with the likes of Rolex, Jaeger Le Coultre etc.

    Lovely watch.

  • @llandudnoboy how long does the watch run for on a full winding please ?

  • If the watch has been properly looked after and serviced by a main dealer every now and then it should run for around 50hrs on a complete wind.

The movement is still recocnised as one of the finest hand wound chronograph chronometers so it should be kept in tip top condition by Omega themselves.

This costs £160 a year, not cheap i know but the watch deserves this annual service because it is a thing of great beauty.

  • @llandudnoboy thanks your input is greatly appreciated , i plan to pick one up when i fly home from canada later this week

  • @llandudnoboy just one other thing , i have a chance of a planet ocean with the orange bezel or the speedmaster , which in your opinion is the better purchase , iv been reading your comments and you do know your watches ...respect to you

  • I would certainly go for the Speedmaster but you must ensure the watch comes complete with all its boxes and guarantee card and other paperwork

Depending on what model Speedmaster eg is it a limited edition model or the current standard Omega with hezalite plastic crystal face still issued by NASA then it will always retain its value

Overall condition of the watch is vitally important

If you can afford it buy it new and never wear it and then it will certainly retain its value long term

  • I saved hard for two years to buy my 50th anniversary coaxial limited edition with only 1957 watches in the known universe produced.

Fairly recently i sold 3 Rolex that i had owned new from the early 1970s having paid just over £1800 for all three.

One was a Rolex Explorer Orange Hand 1655 which alone made me £14,000 and £7000 for the other two.

You see any collectable watch especially a Omega Speedmaster will longterm hold its value if it is totally mint and unused.

    It's

  • I always wear a cheap watch everyday and admire my Speedmaster once a week.

I know it will retain it's value and one doesnot have to wear it to appreciate it.

Just go on the main Speedmaster website and see how NASA chose it way back in 1961 to be worn by all current and previous space missions.

The Speedmaster will always remain one of the finest manually wound chronograph chronometers available and i would definately buy a Speedmaster over a Planet Ocean.

  • The Omega Planet Ocean is a very fine watch but has always been overshadowed by the Rolex SeaDweller which is still retains it's leadership in overall depth to a level of 4000M.

I may be wrong but there is no manually wound chonometer watch currently available that can go down to depths greater than 4000M.

One off specials produced maybe but the SeaDweller has been in production for well over twenty years.

    SPEEDMASTER EVERY TIME.

  • best in a long time. 5/5.

  • sexual!

  • i love you

  • sounds like its raining outside...

  • I would just sit there all day....

  • is that gold??

  • It is gold-plated (what they did 1992-1996).

  • SOLID GOLD

  • its so fascinating to watch
