Emery Gulash is my hero, I have a whole collection of his stuff on DVD. He is to railroad video what Lucius Beebe is to the railroad book and Charlie Clegg is to railroad photography.
@ACLTony it's still there (at least it was few years ago when I went white water rafting) but it is basically abandoned if you go rafting around the Leadville area for a long time you will go right along the tracks and then you will see where the tunnels have been boarded up...I've heard that the state of Colorado offered to buy the line if UP ever decides to sell it though
@Alwaystrains The line is 100% intact in poor condition but with no plans of operation. The UP has not abandoned it but only ceased service. Before a route can be ripped out it is offered for sale. Potential buyers of the route are the BNSF which would be the UP worst nightmare. Also the state of Colorado said they would buy it before the UP could ever remove rail. It is highrailed at least once a year and ballast trains go as far as Minturn on the east. On the east the store unused coal cars.

Is Tennessee Pass still in existence? Last I heard UP stopped running on it years back but did not rip up the tracks.

Beautiful looking DVD here. I still miss the ol' Rio Grande. Good thing Wheeling & Lake Erie owns a handful of em!

I think there are more patched Rio Grande units than SP units.

Well, cause they're more awsome so Shity UP has to ruin them.
