This is an interesting mash-up of cultures - a Chinese woman, dressed as a Japanese, singing a European opera song. Which slips in and out of a latin beat, on top of it all.
Heard from somewhere she received training of Peking Opera. And she combined the traditional way of singing with popular ballads at that time to fit the film. But anyway, such a unique figure and voice! Nobody can be a replacement of Grace Chang.
This vd should reach an international audience. Ge Lan's artistic talents should be appreciated by the whole world !!
On a separate new posting, please upload it again with the English title "One Fine Day" from "Madama Butterfly" (Chinese version ) . Please include English subtitles of the Chinese lyrics on screen. In the info section, you may state that the music is a modified version of Puccini's in 1960 from Hong Kong!
Ge Lan should have been invited to perform Puccini's opera on live stage!
@albertleung89 I'm not being argumentative but I've seen so many comments like this on youtube about Chinese stars & they're mostly by Chinese viewers, I thought I had to say something cos it's rather degrading with an inferiority complex.
Why can't people just stand on their own??? Why do people always have to be this version or that version of somebody else? She's much better than just being a "Chinese version" of a Western star!!! 葛蘭 was a big star, & not a version of another person.

葛籣有好几首好歌,從小我就回味不巳, 卻沒有電影的印象。難得有机會在youtube重溫這些膾炙人口的老歌。可惜我卻沒法把他們 convert to mp3 video 。有人能幫忙解決這難題嗎? (別的較新的歌就沒有這問題)。
