  • Nice to see how this brilliant peice of art was built, Went to see it last week what a spooky sound well done people.

  • WOW, some people are so negative, don't like it don't go. Just showed it to my kids and they now want to go, so tomorrow (weather permitting) we will be going, anything that gets the kids of the x-box and PS3 can only be a good thing!!!

  • beautiful...

  • This is a great piece of art for families to visit and has a fantastic view. Lovely area to sit and have a packed lunch and a cup of tea. Love the design of it. Brilliant

  • shame it had to be built in London

  • Great piece of work. Will be visiting it soon.

  • They should make it spin around in the wind.

  • Curious: How about birds nesting in the pipes? Is the singing tree designed to change chords as wind direction changes?

  • "OPTI "--seeing,vision."CON"--confidence trick Aa-Haa ! we're seeing a confidence trick are we ehh??!! No,seriously --I've been up there and it's an interesting piece of ART, however I'm not over sure how my vision( like the one just above Wycoller)of the countryside/area is supposed to be enhanced by it's presence !! or am I missing something .........and my word ,there's an awful lot of self-congratulatory back slapping being done in this vid!!

  • @MrBazzabee have to agree there i think they're going to get people coming and looking it at it going "well thats great" and leaving to get away from the horrible din, they haven't done anything to bring people to the area in any real way and it 100% does not enhance the countryside whatsoever.

  • Dearjeremyhillaryboobphd...Thank you very much for your comments!..You seem to think like me that the whole thing is very piecemeal...and not very "REAL" in terms of...Jobs...Industry....Tourism..Local Attraction(well,..maybe a tiny little bit !) or even, ppl wanting 2 view our extremely beautiful COUNTRYSIDE (which we have)!!....However these things are called "OPTI-CONS"...Please can someone explain 2 me how OUR vision of this lovely area is "Enhanced " by them ! Detract-Yes ! Enhance-No!

  • @MrBazzabee yeah and to think people in "tourism"think this stuff up, i mean just sitting here off the top of my head i'd say tours providing an insight into some of the naturally beautiful aspects and local history of the area would both be cheaper, provide employment, bring business to the location and even possibly eventually generate revenue.

  • why wasn't it manufactured in Burnley?

  • hatefull

  • Y has my comment from 2 years ago been marked as spam? so council muppet offended at the truth? this video not only shows a coach load of council muppets and council hangers on on a jolly day out pretending this occult monument is some sort of land mark (its in the middle of a field full of sheep sh*t)

but the corrupt towneley family actually got the junk (old red brick redifusion building) removed free of charge from his land (nice one)

'corrupt council hangers on' nuff said?

  • Comment removed

  • what is the location of the singing tree?

  • Crown Point, Burnley, Lancashire, UK

  • ..Birds will nest in it.. bees will build hives...

  • they hose it down with high pressure jets of water smart ass. now take your scrotum to bed and stop trying to be clever. im in a different league to you kid

  • Bei WIND immer FIFI aufs Mikro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It sends sound wave messages to the ALIENS, people!!

  • I dont think people dont want to go to burnley becasue its windy, i think thats the last thing they think.

  • Good job on the film! the artists come accross as a little pretentious though.

  • @progress2007 Artists coming across as pretentious? Oh dear. What will they think of next?

If I did any decent art, I'd be massively pretentious meself.

  • fantastic, creative concept ....congratulations to the people involved who turned a vision into a reality...

  • Went there today after we saw pics on Flickr, It was windy, so it was singing a lot - a very low noise. Surely could have been a much better sound, if they only bothered. Horrified to hear all this booha about the Emporer and his clothes - or singing in this case ("bringing communities together" - what BS - its a sculpture that emits limited sound by using wind, nothing more). Love art dismiss BS.

  • should put some wind turbines there aswell

  • sounds great

  • ive never heard of this b4?

  • Awesome thank you!

  • Awesome thank you!

  • Thanks for putting this up - all the other vids are too noisy and don't have any information about the artists or the concept.

  • Nice work, the concept of the panopticon is lose and unnecessary...

  • creepy...but also very cool

  • totally inspiring, really amazing...

  • Brilliant. Poor Anthony Wilson too. :(

  • checkout 'The Sea Organ of Zadar'.

  • imagine being an archaeologist or anthropologist and discovering this out in the middle of the windy highlands, left by a dead civilization thousands of years ago. pretty spectacular.

  • amazing piece of artwork... but what the hell is the mayor wearing?

  • Looks like the ORIGINAL idea came from the Japanese anime movie "Patlabor" (1st movie 1989)

  • wow....this is...strange, unique...utterly amzaing *claps*

  • Why all the vitriol? Its so juvenile. Put your ideas where your nastyness is, come up with something better and lets see what response you get.

  • Scaffolding

  • Interesting first try. I'd keep working on it and stop celbrating!

  • Top video!
