  • I have been twice in Mostar. It is beautifull city, city with soul, when I hear about Mostar, I allways remember Old Bridge, Neretva river, Velez(football club), Aleksa Santic and Emina. It was a city where there were no nations, there was no difference between ordinary people.. but stupid fascist kill and destroy Mostar, soul of Mostar.. fucking fascist :(

  • I was there in 1970,two friends on their first vacation outside Italy. I remember the beauty of that little town and the magnificent old bridge. I am from Florence so I am used to love ancient bridges. I remember a good turkish coffee that we had in the small turret at one side of the bridge.

And I remember the horror of TV images of 1993, the pain in my heart when I saw the bridge fallig down. Thanks for this beatiful video.

  • wonderful work Ivan Jelisavcic

  • I've been there on the old bridge, its really not that impressive as everyone says, to the mostar-citizens its almost like the Kaabah for Muslim in Saudi. its really not that breathtaking or anything. but very fine structure YES.

  • Bloody fucking stupid Yugoslavians... you fought a useless war and now what do you have?

    Remember this, next time.

  • Kako se zove pjesme ? (prva, druga i treca)

  • My mom and dad grew up in Mostar and every male generation in my fathers family has jumped of Stari Most. The war was an awful thing and nothing good came out of it. A lot of people lost their lifes, family, friends and home. I am so happy that my family did manage to escape and survive. I was born and have grew up in Sweden, but I use to come to Mostar every summer. It is still a beautiful city and i feel like home when i'm there <3

  • I think we should look at what happened and make sure it never happens again - whether we are serb, croat, bosniak, german, english, italian we are all european - we have more that unites us than divides us. And being european is a result of the roman and greek and germanic and slavic and celtic and ottoman cultures combining; ironically the caliphate served as the bridge between graeco-roman cultures and those which lead to the enlightenment...Pax Europea

  • wtf u want this 2 happen again omg thts so hurtful more than half of my family died in this FUCKIN WAR if this happens again omg it would kill more than 75% of ppl and this bridge isn't "just a bridge" its the countrys heart this bridge is a power symbol of conflict and how strong it has been even though it was destryoed by bitches in the war it still represents our conutry.. i krv svoju za bosnu moju.. always and forever !!

3.)ovo mi mozes vjerovati a vrijeme ce donjeti ISTINU

Mostar '93

  • By the late summer 93,Mostar's Muslims were beginning to be wary of their Croat "friends

  • croat arent muslims friends and never will be its a shame to seem them in the house or warship there a shame 2 this beautiful country they destroyed to pieces

  • On the east bank of the Neretva, in the heart of old Mostar, stands the Turkish House, a museum depicting a typical Ottoman Muslim home from some unspecified period of Bosnia's past. On the wall in the main living-room hung an elaborately inscribe print carrying a verse of the Koran in borth Arabic and Serbo-Croat. It read: Beware your enemy, but beware your friend a hundred-fold. Because if your friend becomes your enemy he can hurt you all the more, because he knows the tunnel of your heart.

  • i read all quran i dint see like that. you misunderstood. there is a misunderstanding .

  • I believe only in facts :)

  • Hahahahaha, I ain't telling lies, you do.....And how possibly could the Ottomans be peaceful if they have conquered many Lands???? Is war and killing something peaceful??? NO IT ISN'T....And you are coming from Turkey, so what do you know about the situation in BiH....So please do not sell those pore lies, and spread a non truth attitude about the past "good and peaceful" Ottoman empire....

  • you should know better than anyone else who destroyed the bridge, does hvo ustasha ring a bell ??

  • exactly if u dont kno exactly what happen zip the lip and move they come from turkey and there acting like they kno wat happen in BiH when its not even there home town.. ja budale mejke ti

  • OF WHAT PEACE ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT????? The Ottomans have conquered our land, they have also killed many priests on the bridge after the construction, my ancestors were living like slaves under the Ottoman occupation and not to mention that the bridge destruction was sabotaged by the Muslims to put the guilty on the Croats to show that the Croats have began the Bosniak-Croat war, what isn't true...

  • Look at the political situation today, the public secret of the Muslims is the intention to erase the Croats from the political, social and economic surface in every single case of equal dividing of economic resources and government with the Croats and giving to the Croats the right for our TV channel and many other entity rights....

  • Prelijep slideshow! svaka cast! Pozdrav iz Crne Gore! I pjesma je odabrana fantasticno. Lijepa EMINA, aleksa Santic neponovljivi. :)

  • slm mostar brothers.

  • pozz. my brothers and sisters!!!! peace. love. unity!! u BiH , no matter our religions , we all mixed i'm croatian and have muslims cousins , that's our stenght !.

    the future is ours.

  • i will come and visit mostar 1 day insallah.

  • soo sad to see the bridge collapse !! =(

who are those ignorant brutals? i m angry

    tragic war.

  • The best video I´ve seen here...I am from Czech republic but my father was born in Mostar and I´am so proud that I have opportunity to visit my family there. ADORABLE PLACE :)

  • it angers me that christians and non muslims have done so many injustices against muslims. they have killed so many muslims but they will not get away with it in the hereafter

  • I remember when I was young my mom would always take me to the market over the bridge, the stones were so smooth I always had to hold on to her hand so that I wouldn't fall.. Sometimes as we would be crossing we would watch divers jump from the top and into the Neretva river.. What beautiful memories I have from that bridge.. :)

  • I regret that i never walked over the bridge myself.....it is my home town after all.

  • shame on you, Adnan! ;)

  • @balkanitus typical balkan-style: always living in the past, NEVER plan into the future.

  • @UnaDrinaNeretva The past shapes our future.. Not living in it, but remembering it.. Mostar u srcu!

  • plain beauty...

  • Stari Most was rebuilt with stones coming again from Anatolia by the Turkish company ER-BU with funds from Turkey, USA, Italy, Netharlands, and Crtoatia.

Turkey is still in the process of restoration of other Ottoman structures in Bosnia. Mehmed Pasha Sokolovich Bridge - pls. see the novel "The Bridge on the Drina" by Ivo Andrić, Nobel prize winning author-, and bridge in Konjic -2 million € is reserved just for this bridge- are the ongoing works.

  • its a shame for humanity to destroy this beauty,,,,,,,politicnas just fu... up!

  • Beautiful! I visited Mostar last summer and I feel honored to have crossed the Old Bridge. The city made a big impact on me. I hope for continued reconciliation between of the people of Mostar.

  • I am from Barcelona this is the best video that I see in Youtube. The Stari Most is the best metaphor of the war. Excelent job.

  • What an amazing bridge.

I was fortunate enough to go to university with the scottish UN soldier that shot the footage of the bridge collapsing. He told me stories and showed me video of the civil war, the soliers lives, the fact that so many people were in hiding under the city. The front line being only a street wide.

Tragic war, and it was an evil act to destroy the Stari Most - a symbol of unity.

    Great video

  • culture of Muslims is making bridges, culture of xtians is braking them, more than 160 Turkish bridges are destroyed in Bosnia.

  • lol

  • shkodrani16, r u kidding? The Stari Most was built by Mimar Hayrettin, student of the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan.

See Mehmed Pasha Sokolovich (Drina)Bridge built by Mimar Sinan, see Konjic bridge. And many more. If you check historical documents and architectural facts you will learn who is the leading contributor of historical structures in Bosnia. During the war, they were wanted to be destroyed. One reason was to make people forget about the Turkish/muslim history of the area.

  • Answer to the question asked at 10:18 : As mass-media (TV, press) publish photos of dead people every day, we have just become accustomed to it. Destroyed bridge (especially such a beautiful one) is an extraordinary thing, so we are shocked. It is very sad ....

  • Ibrica Jusic

  • forgive us orphans of Bosnia, forgive us for not protecting you ,my ancestors are turning in there graves, a Turk

  • forgive Europe for not protecting Bosnia, we are all guilty.

  • a vala sto jes jes fina carsija

  • Mostar never got as much attention from media as Sarajevo even though it was much more damaged. I dont see why you put pictures of Arkan's tigers from Bijeljina. Has nothing to do with Mostar considering the fighting there was between Muslims and Croats - The Serb population was driven out before Cros and Muslims split up in 93.

  • Uhhhhh....huuu,svaka ti čast

  • I CAN DIE FOR THERE ALLAHU EKBER

  • Than come and die

  • I am not from Mostar but this city went through HELL, and DEATH to those who destroyed the bridge...

    BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA!!!!!!

  • what???europe hasn´t place for islam?

You´re silly, what do you think who you are?Islam is the right religion(for me)and one of the oldest...first they have makes bad jew´s and now muslims? We bosnians can live with Cro´s and serbs but why we make the same error before 15 years...jel nismo vec prije 15 godina ratovali i jer niste od toga nista naucili... tolirajte sve religije ni mi nista ne kazemo da vi srbini i hrvati zivite u nasoj bosni...

  • A beautiful film about the world's most beautiful bridge. To "Plougasnous": your comments represent the type of bigotry and hatred that destroyed Stari Most and Yugoslavia. I'm mixed South Slav and Indian and not a Muslim (in fact I'm an atheist), but let me point out that India's loveliest monument (the Taj Mahal - you may have heard of it) and former Yugoslavia's (Stari Most) were both built by Muslim empires. People of all religions as well as non-believers have contributed to civilization.

  • Mostar je najljepsi grad na svijetu, i to najbolje znaju Mostarci.

  • Super, najljepsi na svijetu.....

  • great documentary- very sad, but real and heartfelt!

  • Mostar had more mosques in it before the war than did the Roman Catholic church have churches in all of bosnia.

  • Handzar666!

You are starting to make the Serbs look good - and that is pretty hard to do!

Some of the Serbs were vile, and behaved like a pack of butchers. But I spoke to some ex muslim soldiers of Izabegovic's killer army. One in particular was a deserter. When asked why he deserted, he replied that he was not ever going to murder women and children, as he was ordered by the beast Izabegovic through his generals

Are you proud of that kind of leadership?

  • Handzar666

One day in the future, Croat and Serb armies, backed by America and NATO, will come and wipe you killers of women and children off the face of the earth. And along with it your stupid, child molesting religion.

How about it? In 1993 a Saudi Arabian religious court declared that the world was flat: because the Koran said it was. Wow!

  • Handazar666 (and you other muslims)

Read the Koran yourself and see what an awful message it really sends. Murder and slavery are the policies of Islam. Everywhere Islam goes it murders the non muslim populations. After 600 years in India, in the regions taken over by muslims, Hindu populations were reduced to 5 percent from 45 percent. What Crusades did Hindus ever take up against Muslims? What muslim country was ever invaded by Hindus in those 600 years?

  • By the way, that "colored jew boy" that you refer to is considered one of the lesser prophets of Islam. Do you even know that? Two thirds of all muslims in the world are illiterate: That is their excuse for following a sick religion. You can read and write and you probably are too lazy to read up on your lousy, murderous, religion. What is your excuse?

You follow the religion started by a MAN who had sex with a nine year old child. Be a proud dumb muslim!

  • you retard, they are illiterate as a result of colonization. they have broth renaissance to europe, they have formalized proof and broth back math from greece they created algebra, they advanced architecture , they organized hospitals and made standards of today. when we were burning witches they had a street with over 140 bookstoers, europe in total didn't have fraction of it, this was just one street in baghdad

  • and the most important, is that they saved our culture. if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have a fraction of our own history back. while it was burnt and destroyed, they were translating it and studying it.

  • Bosanaca and Turkish is brothers :) Turkiye loves you ,here is your second country ...Boşnaklar ve Türkler kardeştir.Türkiye sizi seviyor.Türkiye sizin ikinci vatanınız :)

  • Bosnians feel the same obout Turkey :) We have always been and always will be brothers!

  • Are you Muslims proud that you belong to a religion that was started by a child molester?

You betrayed the Croatians during the war; now you betray America by having terrorist training camps on your soil. Americans saved your pathetic country by bombing (punishing) the Serbs. Now you spit on the Americans. You religion is sick: it sucks!

  • Mirko, prosetaj malo... ;)))

  • As a Croat, we should first kick the Serbs out, and then settle our differences.

  • Really? Funny you should say that. Wasn't Mostar known for being one of the most racially mixed cities in the former Yugoslavia (by marriage... etc)? I don't understand how Croatians are able to have any superior claims on it as "theirs", could you help me better understand?

  • BOSNİA IS ONLY FOR BOSNİANS... SO if u wanna live in bosnia respect them and dont wanna fight... This time TURKS come there and u see the real war.. LONG LİVE BOSNİA

  • O cijoj "povijesti" pricas Ti?!

  • you make me laugh...but on the other hand you make me sad... you're terminally sick!!!

  • Ottomans will come back here. We didnt forgot our balkanis brothers, and didnt forgot the crimes of the serbians. they will pay of their crimes.

    ALLAHUME help us Amin

ZIVIO TUTA

    BOG I HRVATI

  • Kako tebe nije sramota da poslije tolikih stoljeca turskih zlodjela, tzv. Bosnjaci (dojučeranji Turci i Muslimani)imaju držat prodike kršćanima o zlodjelima ??? A vi u njoj ni tada nećete opstat, ja vam jamčim!!!! =U=

    Crnogorka

  • SAD JE JOS STARIJI.ZIVJELA BOSNA

  • Allah could not help you poor muslim guy. Bosnia and Herzegovina was and will be a part of Croatia. You should go to Saudi Arabia if you want to pray. Don't ever do that in Europe!

  • Ibrica Jusic sings this version of Emina. By the way, the music credits are at the end of Part 2.

  • Bosnian hero TURK IS LOVING YOU

  • Bosnia %31 muslim.

  • Unfortunately you cannot download anything from YouTube. The whole video (part 1 & 2) in .wmv format is about 600MB which is too big to email. Furthermore, I really could not sell this video for commercial purposes since the photos I used are not mine. In any case, I'm glad to hear that many people enjoyed it and would like to get a copy, but I can't think of an easy and legitimate way to do it.

  • Live Bosnia, Live Turkey Live Mostar forever....

  • bosnian war was aggression and genocide so please don't reffer to it as civil war, its not correct

  • şu mostara gitmek nasıp olmadı be abi :(

  • What a great, what a fantastic video, I am loving it big time, Georgeous bridge of my home-town of Mostar. Thanks a lot !

  • I hope Serbs will not ever dare to try destroy these beauties, and will learn to live in peace. What a shame for destroying some architecture just because it is of Turkish origin. Long live Bosnia.

  • The Croats were the ones who destroyed the Old bridge, not Serbs

  • The first attack for the bridge was held by the Serbs in 1992. The Croat tanks started to target to the bride in 1993, which was more detrimental. Turks has the motto "Some who leads something is like the one who actually performs it"

  • Are you originary from the region or did you read about that on the internet/magasines and so on ???

  • why did the croats destroy the bridge?

  • I think as a denial of the multi-cultural history of Mostar

  • so you think the croats were jealous?

  • the croats destroyed the bridge because they thought that they would cut off logistical supply for the bosnians. it didn't work but the bridge was destroyed none the less.

  • what logistical supply???? the bridge is small, and there are plenty other bridges... so kiddy go home to sleep :)

  • Svaka cast momak. Fenomenalno!!!

  • Thanx for showing the truth!

    Hvala za istinu!

    Great job!

    Dobro uradzen dokumentarac!
