This tutorial made me realize why I could never pull of Mockball. My Hat buttons (ie the cross pad) is not working right so I'm forced to use the analog stick. When I attempt the Mockball Samus is knocked out of midair crouch after a jump because I lose forward momentum. i have to push foward which takes her out, the stick won't register diagonal down during the jump which is annoying.

VERY AWESOME MAN! One thing you should've specified was that if you want to do mockball, make sure to be holding down dash, WHILE you jump and do the smooth morphball. I kept trying to do the mockball in that area you showed us in Brinstar, and unless I kept holding the dash Samus wouldn't go far enough. Or maybe I'm wrong and got lucky. Anyhow, thanks a bunch sir.

I saw the method for obtaining the Super Missiles early on Wikitroid- the famous spot, so I took a look at their method for performing the mockball there. It helped, but not nearly as much as your video. I managed to get it on the second try thanks to you slowing down the video. Many thanks! -like 5 minutes off my time, which I'll probably use trying to sequence break the power bomb. (4 perfect super missile shots, perfect 1 wall wall-jumps, and jumping through a bottleneck. D:)

I tried this so many times (before watching you video). I think my mistake was I was letting go of the jump button. I didn't realize that holding it down gave you more speed. Now it's easy (though I still have trouble every now and then lol).

I gotta agree with you. My few nitpicks (if not the only one) I have about SM is the "Item Get" song. It's a nice remix, but it happens too much (especially for your arsenal). Metroid 2 had the right idea by just playing a quick jingle for the Missiles.

I don't know of a PC version of the game, but if you're talking about the Emulator and ROM files, then use whatever key or button you have set for the B button, by default. If you go into the controls options when you highlight your data, it'll tell you which button has which function and you can even set them

i don't get it... i can't morph while holding right (or left), but if i let go of right in order to morph, then i lose my speed. i wind up rolling at normal speed even if i smooth morph correctly. what am i doing wrong? in the vid it looks like you're holding right the whole time, but when i do that it doesn't let me morph.

How to:

You actually do release the left/right button in order to morph. Just after you have morphed, you have to switch back to holding a direction. a VERY good indicator that you did it right is to practice with speed booster, as you will continue speed boosting in morph ball form if you did it right. I practiced it in the coridor with the Dachora (Etecoon? that bird creature) showing you the shinespark. There are probably better places to practice, though. Remember to hold jump! Good luck!

The mock ball can mock me no longer, thanks to this video alone. It took some practice, and I still haven't mastered it, but I can pull it off where it counts, and that's the corridor to the Super Missiles. Now I just have to go through a no boss run and see how I do.
