That awkward moment when you are watching videos like these and you have to pee and when you go to the bathroom it's like freaking Paranormal Activity. Waiting for shit to happen.
The original will always be the best, for it's seriousness (makes the film all the creepier). I hated Evil Dead 2's obvious slapstick and Three Stooges vibe.
@molcoo lol. Seriousness? Oh, come on! You've got to be kidding me! The highly over the top slapstick gore approach is just as obvious in this film as it was in both Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness even if it was unintentional, which i seriously doubt seeing as how Sam Raimi has been a huge Three Stooges fan his entire life and has deliberatelyy incorporated elements of that show into most of his works. Evil Dead 2 was one of the very few sequels that i consider to be superior to the original.
@TheAltair4 Evil Dead did have bits of slapstick but it wasn't nearly as over-the-top and in-your-face. I also found it to be incredibly creepy and atmospheric, which the latter two films didn't have. I still enjoy the hell out of Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness (I never get enough of Army of Darkness). but when put next to the original, I find that they really do pale.
Regardless, this all is just my opinion. So....relax, dude :)
Awesome movie, I was watching it again today when somebody pointed out "you know what, with all of the things that spurt an abnormal amount of blood, you'd figure TAMPAX would have tried to bought the rights on one of those clips for a commercial"
Evil dead really freaks me out. I can watch alot of horror films but I don't know if I can ever gather the courage to sit and watch the whole of Evil Dead. Just watching the clips of it is creeping me out and I have to go to bed now in a minute. This is like the worst thing I could have watched before bed. lol!
Most people think that the scariest part of this movie is the tree rape scene. While it was disturbing, the scariest part for me was when the girls were playing cards and one of them was guessing, then Cheryl just starts naming the cards one by one and by each card she named, her voice got creepier and creepier.
To me, Evil Dead is the best movie ever made and I honestly believe Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness to be far inferior to the original.
It makes me laugh when Tom Savini says about 2 kids who wore suits and had briefcases, because I know for a fact that that's Bruce Cambpell and Sam Raimi.
@CubicalGirl Then I'm pretty sure this is what you're talking about. I was so disappointed because I had only seen the list. I really wanted to, like, watch it. But I found it on Myspace, which made meh happy. :3
(lol calm down I didn't even watch Paranormal Activity)
ok two twins dead in a hallway scene was creepy but it doesnt mean this film should be in the top 10 lists like this.
Evil Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Pet Sematary, the Exorcist, Suspiria, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead II (OK this was a horror comedy but always haunts me.) and etc. ARE absolutely scarier than Shining.
@OmerSWDisco i agree with u on evil dead, dawn of the dead,ETC ETC but the exorcist is only scary when ur tottally relegious...and when it comes to a boy who is confused between believing in religion and science...(aka:ME!) it has no effect what so ever...and a nightmare on elm street is a CLASSIC! but that doest make it scarier than the shining...."Heres Johnny!" is a classic!!! they even parodied it in "Seed of chucky" the shining was awsome! thats why one of its moments is on here!
@AdrianMorrison101 Nah, I don't think it's linked with religion. Personally, I thought the shit was funny lol, but it's not a religious fear as much as just being possessed by something like a ghost
if you like Evil Dead check out intruder (1989) with Sam Raimi and a Bruce Campbell cameo and its considered the last great horror film of the 80s and its awesome!
That blood gush reminded me of a Hammer House of Horror episode, of a pipe splashing blood on children in a kitchen, but I don't remember which one. Help?
Great horror film! And you're right AIDOZ. Why are some of these flicks on here. If they make another follow up list, they'll put Twilight as #1 probably.
100 Rads on the 100 Point Radical Ratings System! TOTALLY RADICAL!
-Awesome!
-The Clip itself very enjoyable. Great commentary.
-The show, Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments, is fantastic. A lot of fun to watch. All kinds of great comments and wonderful clips. I didn't always agree with their ratings but they introduced me to many horror gems I never knew about. (This one! And Old Boy, Audition, The Ring, Signs.)
-And the movie - The Evil Dead - OUTRAGEOUS! Truly disturbing!

Yes i agree ED 2 surpasses the excellent original and ended nicely with Army of Darkness which was more fantasy-comedy-action than horror.
