An open top car does not provide much protection, if the lack of head protection contributed to his death it would just further my belief that convertibles are death traps. My Porsche handles brilliantly, it steers pretty neutrally and you really have to try to get the back out...my mustang on the other hand oversteers and handles terribly; example: the time I spun out on a highway on ramp. My Acura TL (FWD) is a good example of a vehicle that actually understeers; example: the time I put it into a snowbank when the front tires slipped out. Personally I prefer oversteer

The driver of the taurus is doing well. She is back at school with us and seems to be in high spirits considering. Her whole right leg was smashed up and some cuts and bruises but other than that she is ok.

I am sorry, I did not know someone died in this accident. I missed the first word on the title: "fatal" and when I read the description, I did not see any thing about death, so I assumed it was a non-fatal crash. I would not have said that if I knew this was a fatality accident. Please accept my apology. my comment, while not intentional, was extremely insensitive, and I wish I could take that mistake back.

I agree that some of these drivers drive like they are the only people on the road. I have no idea why they make cars that can easily go 100MPH plus when the speed limits aren't anything like that on normal roads.

That certainly is an issue, but more likely, is that the driver was driving beyond their capabilities and this time it cost them their life.

Having a passenger in a car *should* make you take more care, but, in some cases, it has been shown to have the opposite effect, often encouraging drivers to drive in an even more reckless manner, to "show off".

Better training is the answer.

The Boxster driver was at fault and the one who died. As is posted in the video description, excessive speed. loosing control and going into on coming traffic.

ok assessing which way the bend is and the direction of both vehicles as any good accident investigator would point out it is the taurus that has crossed to the wrong side of the road and their neglegent driving may well have caused the death of the driver of the boxster. remember in america they drive on the right hand side of the road and assess all the facts before making ignorant comments based on personel bias. I was there for this right after it happened - the driver of the Porsche died on impact, the passenger in the Porsche is in critical condition and the driver of the Taurus is in serious condition. The Porsche was driving way too fast, lost control around the corner heading S. on Westlake Ave N, and slammed into the Taurus. Seattle PD has ignored the Westlake "Speedway" for too long - 4 fatalities now on this corner, as well as many more injury accidents AND SUV rollovers into the parking lot.
