I was 12 years old and living in Korea when this song came out. The back story behind singer/ song is interesting if I recall correctly. The singer guy was just some normal guy (I think working as an engineer), and he came up with the idea for this song while playing a video game where he had to save a princess (prob something like Super Mario). Explains the lyrics. This song was HUGE that year.

well what i heard was that this song was based on the lovestory of the writer and his wife. They had to endure hardships coz they were quite poor and their parents didnt accept their marriage.
