Chemin, I do not agree with the knee strike. If your attacker did not attack you. You just assaulted your attacker and now he can have you arrested. However, I do agree with ducking under the arm. Without any kind of striking to get away from the wall. That is a simple thing you can do to escape being cornered that will get you out of the being cornered issue and give you space to get away from the threat.
Yeah, a threat of rape is clearly implied. It can be a bad situation. However, what I think a lot us guys object to is half-assed technique which will only anger the attacker, when you don't have to go far to find legit moves - BJJ, judo, sambo, grecoroman, freestyle or if you prefer striking boxing, muay thai, Kyoukushin. Most of the time Aikido, Wing Chun, Taekwondo, Tai Chi and Kung fu should be avoided because of their lack of resistance full contact sparring.
@neutrino78x Bruce Lee was an actor with no pro fights. Gene Lebel lifted him on his shoulders and walked around while Bruce angrily demanded to be set down.
No, Aikido, Wing Chun, Taekwondo and Tai Chi and Kung fu should be avoided.
@Agtren i have to disagree, its not about the style but how you use it. all the styles you suggested avoiding have great benefits in street situations if you know how to use them properly. i've been a practitioner of bjj, judo, kenpo, tang soo do, wing chun, and southern tiger claw for a number of years and i value what i've learned in each style for what practicality there is. a really good kung fu guy is just as good as a really good judoka. also i must say bruce lee was no pushover
@sifujamie If we are giving advice to people about which style to pursue, I think we should have "averages" in mind. An average judoka who has consistently trained for 5 years and regularly engaged in randori and competition will likely beat an average wing chunner/aikidoka/taekwondo guy/etc. who has been training for 5 years with far less sparring and very little full contact competition. That seems to be rather typical.
@Agtren well i do have to agree that judo guys are usually really good at what they do, compared to an average karateka in the usa. a judo black belt typically holds more weight than a lot of other black belts. i am pretty sickened by the lack of practical self defense knowledge that most black belts have today. but i have to say that judo guys have really bad striking skills, as much as they wont admit it. in a competition, yeah wing chun wont do any good, but on the street.. who knows
I would just like to point out for people who keep saying "a black belt should'nt have to resort to this type of defense" that this video is basically for beginners. A black belt would have no reason to really watch this video because they know self defense already. I mean there is a level where common sense is expected...
Please remember first and foremost to use words. "Let me out" "Get away from me" If he seems intent on pressing you! "Hey could you get me a drink or, sorry my freind over there is waiting for me" If it is low risk. If the "Assailant" seems intent on blocking you into place, then knee the groin, elboe the throat and rake the face before moving into this technique.
Yeah kicking a guy in the nuts for what amounts to no good reason is a really good way to get your ass whipped. A black belt should know to control their fear and not react to it unless there is no other option. Simply being uncomfortable is no reason to assault anyone.
those techniques are quite dodgy cause if a guy puts you up against the wall like that and he is mad he may not even feel the knee to the groin for up to 30 seconds if not longer which is plenty of time for hime to retaliate and also that move to smack a guys head into the wall was any bigger then you at all trust me that is a very weak technique.
wow...you should include the telephone number if a good layer :-))...Is that what a woman is supposed to do if she feels "uncomfortable"???? As a black belt you should know better ...

@Agtren uh, all the arts you mention work just fine full contact. Bruce Lee was a Wing Chun guy.
