From one of the finest experimental albums of that era. All of the songs were great; this one was absolutely brilliant. These guys were radical '70s environmentalists.
Last time I saw Spirit was in Rockford, IL at their Waterfront Fest and what an awesome show! I'd seen them in the mid-70s and they were fantasic but this show was ultimate. There were colored hot air balloons and the mood was just beautiful/fantastid! RIP Rancy California. Thank you for your music!!!!
the spill sux but i live on the mississippi coast and have fished that oil rig a few times out past Mr. Gus.I have worked the rigs when I was young and believe the reasons we watched on tv were tragic I think they were true.It does'nt make the mess any better but dont hate the player hate the game,we are junkies to far for a rehab, everything I mean everything is oil related and its too late to stop...I dont see any fix for this, and cars will be a drop in the bucket
I cried while watching this, why didn't we stop tin the first day of the leak. Where was Obama? How could he let that spill go on as long as it did. I think this negligence alone should cost him the reelection.

Yea Beautiful song for this video!!! I was just sittin here looking at this ABOMINATION and I said to myself, The thing about this oil spill that bothered BP was they lost money on the loss of the oil that they couldn't reclaim!! For instance, The oil that was in the lings of those POOR HELPLESS ANIMALS!! The owners of BP SHOULD ALL BE OUT THERE WITH STUFF TO CLEAN THEIR SHIT UP!!!! This makes me so GOD DAMNED FUCKING MAD!!!!!! I'd like to take BP'S President and clean that shit with HIS FACE!!!
what a perfect video to a long ago song. I was old enough to remember the song - and appreciate the video - so what has happened to BP? no new on that mess is there. I had a friend on that oil rig, just trying to make a living for his family - - ~~~~~ what can I say???? but it all sucks!
i lived thru this whole hippie era and the same tree hugging nuts are still looking at the world with one eye shut...........that's right, i was one of the 18 yr. olds .... that still had a,mind of their own........your lost little world will never be, and never was
@111sienna There is nothing wrong with wanting things to be better. It wasn't looking at the world with one eye shut it was the refusal to live as people like you live. There were very few who really embraced the entire hippie culture....most took bits and pieces. It's sad so many like you just accepted the status quo....accepted mediocrity. Hatred and greed is not where I'd hoped this country to be...when I was 18.
So I am aggravated at the fact that I have to 'Sign In'; meanwhile, humans go extinct for our sins, and then Nature will recover. We won't kill as many a the Great Permian Extinction did, and earth recovered from THAT! It only took 50 million years...
Like "Fresh Garbage" and songs about our culture, the choice is whether we make the earth suit our comfort and population desires or if we try to fit ourselves into life on earth and accept limitations. Can we adapt or will we kill what we can't abide? It should be a choice. This song should give us pause in our consumption.
@909chuck i think you are the smartest person i have seen on here for a long time. people like the duggars(a popular show on tv) cannot sustain having 20 kids--michelle and her baby almost died because she is too old to continue having children. will jim bob her husband want to keep having more children just to keep a reality show going? diseases are not a punishment --just a fact that people cannot keep living in such close quaraters. i am not a microbiologist--but even i know that.
@909chuck I hate how some people are so blind at human ignorance. Life isnt about money, or popularity, its about each other, and finding contentment in your life. So many kids my age just focus on pop and crap. I think that earth is strong enough to wipe the human race, if it needs to.
This is really great. I so wanted to share it on facebook, but I cant seem to do it without the history of Spirit that was included in the comments. I dont know why it wants to include the whole thing, but it does. Oh well...I will choose a different rendition. Next time I hope youll leave off the history of the band. It was just the song, and the images that I wanted. People can google spirit if they want to know more about them.
just so you all can cruise in your ride and look cool...is it worth it? not for those we are leaving our mess for.. think about it as smart as we think we are why aren't we thinking ahead or is it the same old thing its all about me and live for today..
Where are Sara F^#ing Palin and John Mother F^#ing McCain to say "DRILL BABY DRILL". I am a Republican voted for President Obama but they made him buckle at the knees to pass his Public Health Program and vote for the big oil companies "DRILL BABY DRILL"

Now that we know that the BP's gushing well has likely dumped somewhere between 18.6 million and and 39 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, the disaster certifiably tops the list as the worst in US history, eclipsing the Exxon Valdez.
It may even make it to the ranks of the worst oil spills in human history. Exxon Valdez didn't even make that list; as bad as that was, there have been 33 larger spills around the would. The idea that this Gulf spill might not even qualify for that list is perhaps the most scary prospect.
