@miniiceman1212 I have a holiday home in Compton, you're welcome to rent if you want. It comes equipped with bullet proof windows, state of the art security system, CCTV and 3 guard dogs. Plus you get a first class view of gang warfare between local hispanic and black gangs from the upstairs bedroom.
@miniiceman1212 Try Silverlake and Echo Park - both are nice, safeish, hip areas with an awesome local music scene. Yeah, it's not cheap...but LA isn't overall. Just look for some room mates to share the costs until you get yourself settled in. Venice beach and the Culver city area might also be worth checking out. Santa Monica is way too pricey. If you don't mind not being in the heart of LA, but still want the feel I would go with Long Beach, which has its own unique character.
A little bit disjointed; however, it should be realized that L.A. is a Mexican city. It is denied, but a casual trip through any neighborhood has Mexicans. There is no South Central, however, there is a South Bronx, South Jamaica Queens etc. So what is your point? Lastly, there is plenty to do in LA, it's only the entertainment capital of the world.

Do you like South Central? I never been to California before & I want to move there. I want to know the good areas & bad areas of L.A. I'm 19 too & my goal in life is to move to L.A. I really want to go. But I'm scared, I want to move to a good place where it's not all expensive & there's no killing, shooting, & robbery. A nice peaceful neighborhood. I want to go to the beach. Is Malibu the best place to go?

@miniiceman1212 Try Silverlake and Echo Park - both are nice, safeish, hip areas with an awesome local music scene. Yeah, it's not cheap...but LA isn't overall. Just look for some room mates to share the costs until you get yourself settled in. Venice beach and the Culver city area might also be worth checking out. Santa Monica is way too pricey. If you don't mind not being in the heart of LA, but still want the feel I would go with Long Beach, which has its own unique character.

A little bit disjointed; however, it should be realized that L.A. is a Mexican city. It is denied, but a casual trip through any neighborhood has Mexicans. I remember back in the late 80's that the 3 top radio stations were spanish language stations. I got the message. I learned Spanish and my heart is with the people that struggle.

I love Cali, but IMPORTANT note is that you shouldn´t go throught "South Central".
Maybe it would be OK but there is a possibility that somebody might robber you. It´s mostly black neighbourhood of course.
But LA is a really lovely city, you must know in which neighbourhood to live.

I've lived in LA my whole life and I love it for many reasons . . . it's diversity, the things you can do here that you can't do anywhere else, and it's beautiful weather! While it's raining and snowing in other parts of the country, peope in L.A. experience clear skies and 70 degree weather.

When you say LA do you mean LA city or LA county. Los Angelinos refer to the majority of LA county as LA city which is actually larger than most states. LA county dwarfs all 5 borroughs that make up New York.

i knw that but the shear size of new york makes it easier to find things to do. also there is horrid traffic in LA so even if you wanted to go somewhere you couldn't get there quickly. also barely any public transportation. it is a beautiful place to visit though

Many people do not know but yes L.A. does provide TRAINS, subways, taxies, and buses. A lot of people don't know this cause there use to only using their cars to get around. But yeah I always use the train/subway to get around.
