  • bridge could use a little work, but the tornado looks beautiful regardless, nice job!

  • Two examples of great engineering in one video. 5/5 :)

  • I had a dream that I was building the Forth Rail Bridge. It was more like a memory of a previous life. It was quite strange and I was rather high on a precarious piece of scaffholding.

Oh sorry I forgot, other people's dreams are boring aren't they!!!

  • Lovely sight, fine video

  • Still a great video despite your excuses! Regarding the earlier comment about "temporary structures", the Forth Bridge is undergoing a complete makeover to remove years of "neglect", i.e. elongated painting schedules which resulted in large pieces of rust forming and falling into gardens in North Queensferry! Costing around £40M the bridge is being stripped and painted to oil rig standard and the paint will last about 25 years, due to be finished in 2011.

  • As it turns out, it wouldn't have been much better on a tripod - it really needs fluid damping at that distance and my tripod doesn't have it.

  • In that case it will outlive the road bridge, which is supposed to be out of life by 2016!

  • Lovely vid, and yes, Tornado is coming back again to Edinburgh on Sat Mar 7 to haul the North Briton back to York - due Inverkeithing 1047, south sub 1109, out of Waverley 1417 - so more vids to come....

  • over the bridge to fife and the home of 60009 union of south africa in or near thornton village belonging to farmer and owner john cameron where there is a facillity for steam .if you are in the area look out for her

  • well done good video A+++++ i mist it at york seting off

  • Great Capture all the same - 5* The scaffolding and cladding on the Forth Bridge - are these temporary structures?

    Mike

  • They are temporary, and they have been for several years now! ;)

They are for repainting work - old paint is being sandblasted off, any damaged steelwork is being repaired, then new paint with a "20 year" life is being applied. It was originally to have been finished around now, but is now expected to take until 2012!

  • Yes they are. They put them up when they're painting the bridge.

  • There's something about a steam train on the forth bridge thats just right. 5*

  • Despite not having the camera on your tripod you have recorded a piece of history....tI don't need to add anything more..except that the Forth Bridge was built for steam. Superb

  • why is it going north of Edinburgh with a support coach?

  • It's spending the next week stabled at Glenrothes I believe. It'll return to Edinburgh next Saturday for a railtour back down to York (I think).

  • Wicked vid :-) *****
