On the other hand, I know, that drunk people can be dangerous even when not driving, just drunk ... I smoke, but only waterpipe, anr only ocassionaly. I really hate cigarette smoke, because it stinks.

No. What I mean is that you can never smoke safely in that one can potentially die from cancer induced by tobacco regardless of how much, or how long they have smoked for. One however can drink safely if it is in moderation and spread out. That is why smoking must be forbidden in public enclosed areas because the health of non-smokers is more important than that of the smokers right to smoke. That is how smokers are entirley irresponsible- passive smoking kills.

About second hand smokers, i want to remark this, my grandfather used to smoke like hell, he died of cancer, but his wife, my grandmother, is 85 now and has a perfect health. Smoking may be bad to others, but so does alcohol, therefore, smokers and drinkers must be treated the same way.

Your grandfather and grandmother made an irresponsible decision, and it is only by chance that she, not he survives. Therefore, smokers allways make an irresponsible choice to practice a habit which they know they cannot practice in moderation or safely. Protect responsible drinkers, condemm smokers and irresponsible drinkers.

@karlozusa69 pretty near "everyone" smoked back then....doctors, priest's, rabbi's, phys Ed teachers, school teachers ....it was the culture at the time and has absolutely nothing to do with the beatles. When I was young my doctor and my dentist smoked....nearly all my teachers smoked. I would walk by the teachers lounge in jr high school and smoke would be pouring out of the room and a haze in the hallway....people smoked even in hospitals

@defundthewar what I tell people is.....smoking is no more dangerous than joining the military, riding a motorcycle, sun bathing or living in the inner city.....or for that matter going into a hospital to have "any procedure" done.....doctors mistakes kill about 200,000 Americans a year. Bad diet kills about 250,000 people a year. The question is....do you want to "possibly" live longer and have no enjoyment of life or live a shorter life of joy.......like smoking, it's an individual choice

@inkey2 I didn't make any medical pronouncements, I guess I was just reminiscing. Of course it's a matter of choice. I think a little smoking, maybe a handful of cigarettes a day might be low-risk enjoyment. But most smokers, I think, would rather have the whole pack or more. I think where some people get confused is thinking, "Okay, I'll enjoy and die early." Pffffffft! Fast. But they ignore the illness... often long, painful... that comes before.
