  • wow, I love this, I'm learning how to fly with a glider. But this looks like way more fun! Set up you're scooter somewhere and fly! Although it is probably not allowed to just fly where you want. I think I'm going to start with this sport after I get to do my solo with a glider ;)

  • @tbvdb Thanks, you'll love it.

  • How often do you have to replace your hang glider?

  • @Topgeneral3070 You typically will not replace the glider you'll replace the wires. I replace mine every 5 years or after a hard landing. Some people replace theirs every year.

  • I scooter tow here in Ohio, where is this location? Nice video!

  • Never thought about hang gliding.... Sounds like a cool sport. how much does it cost to start out/learn? And how safe is it, do you have safety equipment?

  • @ArmaEditor It's pretty safe. Statistically safer than a motorcyle. Used equipment is cheap. You can get a used glider for about $1500 -$2000. A used harness goes for about $450-600. Training ranges from intro lessons $100 to full certification or H2 about $750 - $1000. I would start off with the $100 intro lesson at a school because you get to use their equipment and see if you like it.

  • how come i never see gliders with dihydro?

wouldnt you want that for stability? or are the dynamics to diferent from a plane?

  • @multigunlover All modern hang gliders have a dihedral angle to the wing making them more stable in roll. Beginning gliders are very stable due to the dihedral shape of the wing.

  • @wmadams1 sorry for some reason my computers spell check made it dihydro i dont even know what that means haha

but you knew what i meant. i make some types of flying machines and all but one of many designs ive constructed has a dehedral

so its odd to see anything with little to know dihedral to the design

    thanks for replying

  • @multigunlover Another aspect that improves the stability of a modern hang glider is it's flexed wing design. Flex wing improves stability compared to a rigid wing design.

  • @wmadams1 learn something new every day.

that would explain my dads designs..

  • @wmadams1 yeah but rigid wings just fly better..... :)

  • @multigunlover While strenght of wing structure depends on spars, strenght of HG wing is mostly on lines going to speedbar. With dihedral angle wing tips wouldnt get enough angle I think. Plus it is preferable to have quite elastic wingtips as scratching ground is quite common.

  • Does anyone else hear an alarm clock ringing 4:19

  • I can see the curve at far away. Is it because of the effect of the camera or because the real earth is curved or both?

  • It's a little of both. Part of it is the camera lens and the other part is the altitiude. I'm only at about 1000 AGL at the most in this video, but even at that altitude you can start to see some curvature especially in flat areas.

  • Yes great movie.

And this flight ! Airtime edi.. uh addict ;)

  • That's me. Are you still going to go to Indian Creek?

  • HEY!!! this is kelly!! we went at indian creek two weeks ago! It has been in my favorite lists for 2 months i think. didnt know that it was YOU!!

  • Are you still going to indain creek?

  • @wmadams1 I havent been there for a while. Sometime dave cancelled it and sometimes I have other things to do. I want to continue tho. Will you be there?

  • If they go out the weekend of 12-11-10, I'll be there.

  • yeah really awesome and the hd was really good i wanna do this

  • Thanks, It's fun!!! You should try it.

  • Wonderful! You really took us up there! Amazing HD. Great angle shots. Thanks!

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • great flight. which is the title of the song?

  • Bad dream by Keane

  • very epic landing! can't wait till i have enough money for the entire course to become a pilot!

  • I'm glad you liked it. It's the perfect time to start hang gliding, so hopefully you get enough money soon.

  • yeah me too...

  • great vid man it looks like the best thing ever. i realy want to get one and start flying but i know nothing about the sport. how much would one of these babies cost new and pre ownd? iv not got alot of money so i hope theres some in my price range. once again thanks for the vid its class mate.

  • You can get your novice rating for about $750 U.S. dollars. You can get a used hang glider for about $1500-$2500. A used harness goes for about $450-$750. I would pay for the training and get your novice rating first. You can buy your equipment once you get your novice rating (Hang 2).

  • Great little vid

  • O som é uma b...., mas o vídeo é bem legal!!

  • Great camera work & editing. Good job. That scooter looks like a cool contraption for towing, better than towing with a beaten up out old car.

  • It's Keane, bad dream. I got it from another HG video. I'm trying to find some music for the video I took of you and Tony.

  • Nice video ... i love this song
