Like alot of people have said, your spirit animal chooses you, not the other way around. Your spirit animial may well be an owl but you have to meditate to find out (or they may come to you in a dream). Personally when I first started meditating a wolf came to me but now I also see a horse.
mine are a tiger and a wolf yes ik thisbecause i have seen them everyday of my life and first time i saw them they told me they were my spirit guides ever since we have become close friends and they are like family now :)
we are changing a tradition here though, you can change the imagery of kundalini from a serpent to anything you want, a tree, or a bird, onion, or anything, or just energy,
the serpent is so pervasive as imagery, but not necessary, our intuition tells us...
not necessary as such a central thing, though it is one expression

Owls are so special. One night we had an owl set by the fire with us for a timed 45 minutes. He looked at us all one at a time . Then suddenly he flew away. My friend kept saying this just does not happen but it did. About 2 weeks later my friend died of an unexpected heart attack.This has puzzled me. Was this owl an omen as I have heard of?

Awesome. I know my spirit animal is a tiger. I can here her call to me every once in a while. I was even born in the year of the tiger, and just love them, they are such beautiful cats. They are loners, but can tolerate others in their territory, they are one of the only cats that actually loves water. This is me, I even have the anger of a tiger, and that takes a lot to control.

i'm half ojibwe native and it's an old superstition in my tribe that owls are bad luck. elders are terrified of them and they say if an owl lands on your house somebody will be dead tomorrow. my ancestors would eat anything in this area (minnesota, ontario) but an owl.

They are loners, but can tolerate others in their territory, they are one of the only cats that actually loves water. This is me, I even have the anger of a tiger, and that takes a lot to control.

be open with other people's beliefs, it prevents conflicts. You dont have to believe in this at all, simply respect it and respect the people who do believe in it. I do not believe in god but i do not call the people who do retarded or simple minded. In fact people who believe in these thigns are far more imaginative and open minded than those who base simply on fact and what you can see/proove.

No one truely knows what is reality or not or what ideas are the right ones. Science is a man made thing after all. There is nothing wrong with wanting to believe in something which cannot be proven scientifically. I have seen things which science could never explain, guess its oneof those things that some believe and others do not, like religion really. Just because one believes in them does not make them able to survive better. Sometimes openess of mind is far better.

My primary is raven, but I have two others that often appears in my dreams and meditations: orca and horse.

I have pug dogs...and they're like owls in that they have big eyes and flat faces. I have a real affinity for owls, but blackbirds or ravens are the only birds I am superstitious about. New York is awesome, I'd love to live in New York...its like being in a Woody Allen film. Melbourne is cool, but New York is the ultimate. I could just look at the deco buildings and famous buildings from films like the Dakota from Rosemary's Baby. Hey, your previous id was cuter. Robbie.

i'm half ojibwe native and it's an old superstition in my tribe that owls are bad luck. elders are terrified of them and they say if an owl lands on your house somebody will be dead tomorrow. my ancestors would eat anything in this area (minnesota, ontario) but an owl.

The same superstition about owls being bad luck and death omen is traditional in Portugal and Spain (and other European countries, I think).
The reason can be the owls are night birds, and there is an old association of the night with the dark and so with death.
