So I should be practicing on the 20th Anniversary ROM if I'm looking to get a high score on a machine of the same type? Or are the differences so minor that it won't make a noticeable difference?

Yeah it won't make much difference really, unless the monster-alignment bugs you like it does me, or unless you get to the end, or unless you hate huge arcade screens like me which is the difference between Anniv & reg cab that i forgot about in my previous post :)

Is there any difference between Ms. Pac-man machines and the 20 year anniversary Ms. Pac-man/Galaga?

Yes there are a few differences:

1. Anniversary machine always goes to level 141, true MsPac cab is very random after level 133 and almost never goes to 136 let alone 141.

2. On Anniversary you can choose fast or slow game with a specific joystick combination.

3. Slight difference in monster-alignment - hard to explain without showing you.

@Jelle147 I wish in MAME you could rack test in the Anniversary rom, so I could see the kill screen! Another one is the sound does not sound as clear on the Anniversary ones, the machine is smaller, the screen is bigger, when you die you do not see the black 'flicker' you usually see when it is redrawing the screen on the original. Oh, and this pattern didn't work for me on the Anniversary, but it did on the original.

It is said that you can pass thru the ghosts when they blink which is very very rare. Its one of the hardest thing to do and is very lucky.

I have the original arcade and sometimes it happends. Same with the fruits. It must be a glitch. If anyone knows how to do it. Let me know... In the arcade after you get to the bananas things get very random. I like to see a good stragedy but this is more a skill game.

The only release i know of which maintains the true AI of the ghosts is the one for Xbox live arcade - even the TV plugin one from NAMCO themselves has different ghost modes of operation and doesnt follow the true ms. pacman rules.

No, it's not a glitch. This is something you have always been able 2 do on pac man and Ms. Pac man even in the arcades on the originals. It can ONLY occur @ an intersection. In this case it happened at a 3 way intersection. This is one of the "Tricks" you have to know about this. There is also 1 hiding spot you can "Park" and the ghosts will NEVER find you. They will roam all over the screen round and round, back and forth but never go 2 where you are. It's JUST after the start Position.

it is a glitch.

it happens because a collision cant happen in one space or somthing. so if u turn a corner at the EXACT same time as a ghost, it wont count as a touch.

I've gone through ghosts, its not just inky

it seems to be when they are going around a corner you can slip past. I find it happend more often on the fast pacs since its a short time window to pass through them when they corner, when you're fast you can get thru easier.

I'd always heard that in the arcades if the ghost's eyes aren't facing you (very rare) when you eat through them, you can survive. Never seen it happen though.

What emulator is this? I presume it's actually an emulator and not just a re-creation of Ms. Pac, right?

Actually no, the route is exactly the same, you just have to time it different. If you go the same route in the faster version you will end up at the spot at the wrong time. Just go the same route but stall before the place where the ghost comes through, then make sure you go thru the ghost right as it comes through. It is hard to do, but I have got it a couple times.

This trick also works on the Ms. PacMan arcade board/ROM known as Ms. PacMan Speed Hack or something to that effect. It's harder to pull off though because Ms. PacMan moves faster than she normally does so the timing changes.

Does this always work? I had inky eat my butt as normal when trying it. My boardx is in a 48 in 1. Could that be why it didn't work? Also, do you have to get the full 4 lots of monsters eaten in the first set gor it to work?

On a true MsPac board, it will always work yes. Always worked on the arcade too... only place i know where to go thru a ghost deliberately. Btw i have no idea what a 48 in 1 is lol :)

Well that's why i made this video, to show that trick ;) it works every time on the strawberry (unless another ghost blocks my path ofcourse). Sometimes on other levels it's possible to do it by accident, but i wanted to show how to do it on purpose :)

u could record it using hypercam2 and then click on record sound, then go volume control on your computer, click options, properties, chose record instead of playback the uncheck all options except for stero mix.

The only bad part is that it has a banner when you record unless of corse you buy it :p
