  • How would u feel flying the antonov-225 with the buran orbiter on top.

  • woooow!!!!

  • The biggest in the world, but still good manouverable. Good russian.

  • Nice was, if the shuttle get rid of the Antonov in the middle of the fly, and start to climb for out of space.

  • Great USSR fly...

  • Do a barrel roll

  • Where did this footage come from?

  • Corno,,, da proxima vez escreve TESTE, seu filho de uma pu@ç

  • Soviet Russia launched an unmanned space shuttle 25 years ago.

The Americans then wanted to buy the secret technology for the Space Shuttle autopilot. Russian refused to sell. Only after 24 years, in 2010 the U.S. launched the first unmanned shuttle.

  • @MrSrgj what was the name of the shuttle..??

  • @TheG9983

    What do you mean?

In this video, the same Space Shuttle "Buran", which in automatic mode flew into space.

There was another BTS-002 to test the aerodynamic properties of the space shuttle, which is now in German Museum of Aviation. This the same thing that the American shuttle "Enterprise", which did not fly into space, and only tested on Earth.

Planned to make 6 shuttles, 2 have been completed, the remaining 4 space shuttle have completed only 40%.

  • The mother and her baby

  • spice!

  • It is a pity, that European Space Agency didn't continued this project. How many space shuttles can land with no pilot in it? Or be attached to a great plane?

Buran and Mriya could be a milestone in conquest of the universe, and by now space travels gave us much more benefit than CERN collider.

  • I reached for the mute button quickly when music was known in this video :P.

  • @roju0229 Yup me too.

  • bonitos inventos sovieticos q orgullo la union sovietica

  • ... what an amazing project, what an amazing craft. It is easily one of the biggest technological wastes EVER!

  • @notgodsemigod well it's a copy of the american spacecraft

  • @dumbnetworks Well no it is not a copy of the US shuttles - just read what I commented below. The two crafts are amazing but Buran profited due to its prolonged prototype phase. Buran had also the advantage over the Shuttle of being modular, i.e. being used both in unmanned and manned missions.

Note that even 25 years later, Buran remains the most advanced spacecraft ever made by humans.

  • @dumbnetworks nope.. just do some research and you'll see despite the looks the two crafts are totally different.

  • @rajithaify funny people say nope for any stupid reason imaginable. so again, they made basicaly the same design and improved it of course. it's easy to improve something after went out hundreds of tests, so for the last time you do some research, or just look at the shuttle and you see that they look exactly the same.

  • @dumbnetworks as i said earlier they look the same.. and that's where the similarities end.

just to name a few differences..

Buran transporter does not have any booster rockets and it gets all its propulsion from the attached Liquid fueled booster rockets(shuttle has three engines + two solid fuel rockets.. if something goes wrong after ignition there's no way to stop it

buran is a robot space craft -it can go up into space, do the job it's required to and come and land completely automatically

  • @rajithaify OF course I did not say that is not better, chill dude! read what I wrote. It is based on the space shuttle obviously, they copied the spaceraft and they made it better. but it's still based on that one. It is not an original design. only the components are sort of original engeneering. they didn't make a brand new design from scratch. they didn't bother. so there's a thing that works so let's make it much better in many ways. which is easier than make a brand new one.

  • Only SU can build such machines

  • @mphet26 ussr is dead

  • is that huge place in the sky, a level in sonic the hedgehog?

  • Cool that Buran could be flown without crew

  • @Hellstenen Buran has a weird story. Russian engineers did not want it as they considered shuttles an unecessary extravagance - they preferred the Soyuz-like systems for manned missions. But Russian military wanted to have "the same thing as Americans". It was believed that Americans built the shuttles to have a means to "abduct" "live" satellites in space and bring them down to earth.

Since they wanted the "same thing", engineers copied the general external design (funny eh!).

  • @Hellstenen But from there on, Buran took a very divergent technological path. It was designed to be predominitalty a robotic aircraft with added modules for manned missions as option. The project spiralled, several pre-prototype solutions were considered, finally they opted the direction of Buran, precious time was lost, Americans had already their shuttles for 5 years before the first real Buran flight. But because of that additional project time, Buran profited from more work on it.

  • @Hellstenen Hence, Buran was built as a much more evolved and much more versatile version of a space shuttle providing all options. What is interesting is that Russians had to develop a special software language to fit the needs for the project - an interesting case : the soft was so successful that on its maiden, and only flight (unmanned) the aircraft went out to space and returned landing under VERY bad weather losing only a few cms of its calculated path, landing securely to its airport.

  • My apologies to the experts, but what was the purpose of that expiment where you attach a shuttle to the top of the 225?

    Transportation perphars...

  • @robertosan1976 Pls, be informed the "Mria"(ukr.) = "Dream" (in eng.) = Antonov 225 was prep. like a launch platform for Buran. Video descr. tests not only for transportation.

  • Comment removed

  • @robertosan1976 Transportation only (Buran and Energia modules)

  • @robertosan1976 npe.. not for transportation.. its an aerodynamical test..

  • PLEASE AMERICANS LETS WORK ON THIS SHIT TOGETHER

    Space awaits!! SCREW POLITICS

  • What's the point of putting a space shuttle on it?

  • @Nanaking99 That how its been transported to the launch site.

  • @VN670 ok thank you

  • wtf with music?! The best music is the sound of jet engines!!

  • @JFDhater yes it would add a little extra lift, but not much. Plus it wouldn't matter very much because airplanes and jets set their flaps down a little bit during take-off AND landing. Still not sure why for the take-off. The flaps slow down an airplane so they can safely land. And (like on most jets) the reverse-thrusters slow it down tremendousley.

  • dude... that music suck ass... where is toccata ! ? fuck copyrights

  • @machal89sc what copyright? you can't claim copyright on a COVER of a song that is not under copyright anymore! completely ridiculous...

  • Can anyone INTELLIGENT tell me if the shuttle adds any extra lift while piggybacked to the 225?

  • @JFDhater

Personally i do not think it does.Since Antonov's wings are ahead of Buran's wings,Most of the Air will go under Antonov's wings instead.Plus there is only a little space between the antonov and burans wings,i dont think alot of air will pass through to create lift.Plus looking at the proportion and size of the wings required to lift Antonov's body,Burans,i dont think will give any extra lift. Those wings are too small in size.Thats only common sense,so i may be wrong ;)

  • @JFDhater the american shuttle could take off into space from their trials with Boeing 747

  • the song and the video is amazing!but i wonder what is the purpose of the "red needle" in the nose? pls reply tnks.

  • @Ch3at3rN00b Usually it's an air speed indicator.

  • @2degucitas

tnks for replying!! I thought it was the communication system.

I'm the account replacer for Ch3at3rN00b because i lost the password and never retrieved it.......

  • what is the name of original song, please

  • ANTONOV Aeronautical Scientific/Technical Complex , Kiev, Ukraine: AN-2, AN-6, AN-2F, AN-2V, AN-2M, AN-3, AN-11, AN-9, AN-13M, A-15, AN-14, AN-14M, AN-28, AN-38, AN-24, AN-30, AN-26, AN-32, AN-32P, AN-8, AN-12, AN-10, AN-71, AN-72, AN-74, AN-74TK-300, AN-22, AN-70,? AN-140, AN-148, AN-124, AN-225!

  • In Soviet Russia, plane give pig back ride.

  • Ye what was the "remix" of toccata song called? Loved that song. And can it be found easy? If anybody knows. :P

  • Жалко бурана( горбач выкинул его на помойку(

  • Impressive but as u can see the Russians sure "borrowed" quite a bit of the Space Shuttle design even taking into acct the how all winged-style spacecraft would have sim designs. The US Shuttle has some sim to the SANGER vehicle that had some design work done during the early stages of WW 2 by the Germans.

  • @rangeclerk Do you think the spaceship can be copied just by looking at its appearance?

  • @mphet26 There are always sim designs given the requirements of the ops and where the vehicle is operating in. However there was huge amt of data that the Russians has access to which otherwise suspect they might not have been able to build the vehicle. Sad though, the Russian Shuttle is no more; destroyed in a building it was housed--fire---They are workin on a vehicle known as "Space Clipper"(?) or something close to that name--not the US--we are throwin away or manned space cap.

  • Where is Bach?

  • How it was called the original song? It was the best remix of bach ever!

  • why u change music?

  • @ahtaaja479

    Copyright...

    Sorry

  • @vixmoa

    bugger :(

MUCH better with the original music :(

  • @vixmoa how is Bach copyrighted. FUCK THE DMCA

  • @vixmoa what was the origional song anyway?

  • @ahtaaja479 ya lik the oder music waz gresi

  • @ahtaaja479 I have to say, I liked this video with that version of Toccata and Fugue as well. If you want, you can try to search for "Sky Toccata", and turn down the music in this video. I personally thought that the original music fit well with it as well.

  • "song" ;] is Bach - Toccata & fugue d minor

  • who has legt who??? nasa has left russia?? thats why the nasa ask russia to start rockets to the iss!!! lol how much space shuttles have explodet!!!!! hahahah lol

  • First-ever Shuttle, 1857 of the USSR.

    youtube.com/watch?v=R-_T0fT7zHs

  • its not impressive imo think of future planes will carry twice this . theres already one being made at sos airindustries rochford ....... 7.5million lbs gross

  • Great vid - what an awesome plane the 225 is. Mind you, I think the AN-2's and awesome plane too! :)

Does anyone know what the long spit on the nose cone is? - I've not seen it on any pics or vids before on the 225.

  • damn this video and this music reminds me of Soviet union in best times, yes we didnt have liberty, but so what? people didnt die of hunger or of drugs, a lot of social control on people, well lets see what putin and medvedev will do in next 10 years, i wish they will grow russia from knees, and all of us russians should contribute in that x)

  • what is this song

  • 2 amazing machines in one video! great!

  • Fahkin' hell. Grow up you cunts. This is an awesome video and you're bitching like a bunch of children!

  • What a giant....

  • Great video!

  • They should change the jet engines with prop engines.

  • I saw the Buran shuttle on display in Sydney, Australia a few years back. Anyone know if it's still there?

  • @scarecrowschofield

I saw it too. It was on show for some time, but I think under-promoted. Not many people seemed to have thought it was interesting enough to visit - their loss! Something I didn't know: It had jets on it as well as rockets, so could take off horizontally from an airstrip.

I bought a T-shirt, which showed Buran landing at the Sydney Opera House - ha!

  • That's my favorite airplane!

  • It says Hi at 2:20..:)

  • Basta parlare

  • 1:22 EPIC

  • Weep, russians, of AN 225 it is not yours anymore. Cri of your dead Buran, it has broken as your "great" empire ussr )))))))))))

  • @S4uryk It only has 50% steak in the ownership, the rest is held by a russian conglomerate. Get your facts right. Antonov DB was formed and financed by the soviet money, what are you proud of? Did you build anything of any value since you became so called Independent? Like hell.

  • @S4uryk Who's we? In case you don't know Ukraine was either part of the Russian Empire or USSR for quite some time and the scientific and financial resources were shared it made no difference where things were invented. You could have a NII in Moscow with specialists from any part of USSR same as the Scientific base in Ukraine was due to governmental control coming from Either Imperial St Petersburg or Russia. Trying to separate Russia from Ukraine is the same as separating Kiev and Zhitomir.

  • @ahamayoisac But you still use the cosmic rockets Zenit and Cyclon which have created UKRAINIAN engeneer Sergey Korolev and still makes UKRAINIAN company Yuzhmash. What about that? Why you, russians, didn't make something new?

  • @S4uryk Whose "you"? Why do you automatically, wrongly i must add, assume that i'm Russian? Korolev was not ukrainian nor was Tziolkovskii. Korolev is a russian surname in case you didn't know but that doesn't matter you are an idiot, totally lacking in education and mistakenly thing that everyone shares your view. In my profession i work with Ukrainians, Russians, Americans, British and specialists from other countries. Grow up and get some education and stop sounding like a moron.

  • @ahamayoisac "you" means you, russians. You said Korolev is russian surname that means he was russian))) what an idiot you are! There are many russians with ukrainian surnames but nobody says they are ukrainians. Korolev was ukrainian, read his biography. Uderstood, moron?

  • @S4uryk Well, my dear, first of all i'm NOT russian. Secondly, i'm not the moron here, looks like you are. Korolev's mother was ukrainian, father was Russian, Korolev is RUSSIAN surname. Ukrainian surnames are not gender based. Just because someone was born in Ukraine does not automatically makes them Ukrainian. If someone with a surname Dadian lives in Erevan does not make them Armenian that person will still (at least on the father's side) be Georgian or rather Mingrelian.

  • @S4uryk For your information, most of today's Ukrainians are originally Russians. Before you start insulting people, which you can't by the way, your brain capacity is not big enough, get some information on the demographics of Ukrain. Krym for example pretty much 40% turks, Eastern Ukrain - Russians, mainly escaped "kreposnye" western ukrain - shlyahta. Which one was Koroleav? lmao Lenin was born in Kazan', didn't make him tartar.

  • @S4uryk I speak pretty good Russian, lived there for 3 years doing my PhD. Worked on a project with some specialists in St Petersburg Uni on Waves. Probably even made some difference in the outcome of the project, some very important technologies were developed later as the result of our team's work, who's achievement is it? Which nation? Its stupid to try and identify who's impact on what technology is vital, science doesn't work that way. But credit to the Russians for funding our work.

  • @S4uryk By the way Korolev learned rocketry from his teacher Tziolkovski and if you trace the knowledge back, you'll find that Newton had something to do with it, and back even as far as Galileo, maybe even as far back as Euclid. So as you can see its the Brits and Greeks you need to thank for it hahahahahahahaha. All i can say to you is that it is clear from what you write that you are, sadly, not more intelligent that most of americans here. Basically dumb ass.

  • @TheKazap Just because something is subcontracted to an agency or a company that handles various aspects of business does not mean the ownership is surrendered. In commerce it is on whose books the item is owns. And who is we and who is you?

  • Completion of Buran was a political step. The goal could be to show the ability to symmetrically respond to any Star Wars program, making the US consider further space arms race to be useless.

  • First USSR had no brains to develop this thing but they had money to steal american Shuttle and they renamed it to Buran. Then Russia had no brains, no money to repair the hangar roof and it has broken down at the Buran. Russia as UUSR still pretends to be called a superpower. LOL!

  • @S4uryk such and uninformed and infantile statement. But then again, what can one expect from someone who can't spell basic words, yet is aiming to sound like an expert. Quite pathetic, i must say.

  • Song name?

  • All of those who are boasting American might on this string sit quietly and enjoy the show. Quit trying to tell everyone that only America is the best at everything. Get this- you are not. And say thank you to the Russians for selling the Yak VTOL technology to your pathetic F22 craptor so you can make the F35 and somehow recover from the international disgrace at producing a piece of flying pooh pooh like that. LMAO

  • @ahamayoisac If you want to see flying shits, go to the videos with all the russian planes falling out of the sky in airshows. YouTube's flooded with those Hahaha!!! Boast about jet planes when you can keep them in the air, dipshit.

  • @fiveoscar Clearly you have no idea of safety and service track record of various military fixed and rotary wing models. The worst one is the british hurrier, it has 30% accident rate. Next one is F22, serious issues there. As for crashing planes that is nothing to do with the design its to do with the gutsy pilots, try performing a barrel then cobra right after in an alignment. Wanna see accidents, refer to Shuttle.

  • @ahamayoisac Safety record??? Can you read that in the same sentence with the name russia while holding a straight face? Cause nobody else can LOL.

And the british harrier has been greatly improved and your claim about the F22 is an empty one. Use substance Mrs. Boris. Don't pull things out your ass. I'm sure it made for a wild shows in moscow bars but in text, it's just lame.

  • @ahamayoisac And ever since the Shuttle entered active service, there have only been two accidents. Not bad considering there's a 22 year gap between them. Can't say the same thing about the russian shuttle program... Oh wait... you never really had one did you?? ROFL

  • @fiveoscar we did not, you are right, Russians did. I still don't see what point you are trying to make, that all Russian technology is rubbish and all American is great. That is such a naive and stupid position to take. The world has lots of clever people in it and not all of them are americans. Next time you are rolling on the floor make sure you clean the shit first.

  • @ahamayoisac I didn't say ALL russian technology is rubbish. It's just not as good as ours. They have potential but seem to come up short. Next time, read the posts carefully and follow the argument before replying with a fag comment. Most of all the top tech is in fact American. When russia takes the lead in something, then come reply to me.

  • @fiveoscar half of the U.S tech has alot of Euro/canada work in it. But since it was developed in the U.S you guys say it's american. Example the f-22 raptor has alot of UK work into it.

  • @gologabob F22 raptor is a disaster, makes no difference who was involved, although mainly american development.

  • @ahamayoisac Wrong you're just the guy who dosn't know that the F 22 was a test plane with new technology made to open up the path for future planes

  • @gologabob assumptions, assumptions, assumptions. You have no idea of my gender, you have no idea about what i do for a living and to what extend i am informed on the subject of F22 and why it was developed. I am, however, not assuming but simply guessing that you do not grasp the reality of weapon development and production business, the tactical applications of various items of hardware and pretty much anything relative to the subject. End of ..

  • @gologabob The f-22 has a lot of UK work into it??? I hope you're not talking about a "component" of the radar system, not even the entire system, which is the only thing that's foreign on the F22. That would not indicate that there's "a lot" of UK work in it, stupid. A much greater percentage is American on top of being an American design by American engineers. FAIL

  • @fiveoscar i did read your comment or comments i should say. "Not as good as ours" - makes me laugh to be honest. Like give me examples of what is not as good.

  • @ahamayoisac The space shuttle for starters, stupid. Then is would be computer tech, software, aircraft carriers, UAV's, electrical grid, etc. Not saying you don't have it. It just isn't as good.

  • @fiveoscar space shuttle is based around several hundred various developments and yeah it was a good idea. Unmanned flight control is not US idea, Buran actually has it shuttle doesnt. UAV type craft is useless in any tactical situation with any enemy that has SAM even the stealth X45 is kinda pointless. Stealth technology was Ufimtzev's idea (a soviet scientist) Russia did not develop it as it is pretty pointless. EGrid would have been pointless without AC which was french idea. Any more?

  • @ahamayoisac So the best is what came first??? Hahaha! The argument was what does the US do better. And I answered. Hahaha!!! So if you asked me who does soccer better, and I say Brazil, you would come back with "no it's england"? Hahaha!!! Nice FAIL, Boris. And Stealth technology has proven itself in all the combat zones it's been used so your other argument is also bullshit. Hahaha!!

  • @ahamayoisac And modern stealth technology was also first developed by the American military. Having the "idea" first doesn't mean you can take credit for it. If so then I guess you thing DaVinci invented the helicopter right?? You sure are powerfully stupid.

  • Nice mirage btw

  • СЛАВА ГЛЕБУ ЛОЗИНСКОМУ!

  • I think the collapse of the USSR was the worst thing for the both russian and US space programs - almost twenty years later and we have made little progress. I think it is funny reading people making fun of the Russians because they "copied" lots of stuff. I would join in but what's to make fun of? everything they copied they made better than the US.

  • It certainly is, I think NASA would have benefitted from still having some competition. This must have been a test flight, those manuevers were a little drastic for a normal fairy flight. Its a good thing I wasnt there filming out of the back of the cargo aircraft, I probably couldnt have resisted trying to spit on the windscreen of the Mriya just to see how good my aim was. :) Great vid!

  • Beautiful vid !! In 4:31 Anotonov looks like a big mother duck with her little duckling on her back :) What a machine !! Shame that the Soviet Union abandoned their Buran program

  • @S4uryk hahahaha, so you are russian then. Why insult the others?

  • @ahamayoisac others who?

  • @S4uryk The stuff about showing burzhuyam naked asses, that's who.

  • @S4uryk And in any event, i just read your little statement on your page about being under the Russian bear. Velikiya, Malyia i Belyia - Russia, Ukraine and Belorrusia. Some education you are getting. Ukraina means Okraina, the edge of Russia and Kiev was the first capital of Russia hence Kievskaya Rus'. You were under Poland for about 200 years. This nationalistic notion that was started by idiots like you is a joke, every single person in Ukraine has relation in Russia so all of you MASKALI

  • very cool vid!

  • LOL its like a mother carrying her child.

"ready son? watch how mommy flies."

  • rare video because that pathetic excuse for a space shuttle has only made 1 mission to "space" in which it orbited Earth twice and came back. it has just over 3 hours logged. major fail

  • Can americans match the greatness of Mother Russia? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Americans boast their so called "technology" by posting videos on youtube like the new Ares I but Mother Russia likes it to be hidden.!

    ^^ XD

  • Mother russia is a whore that's recently changed her name.

Bigger is not necessarilly better, Boris.

Remember, we made the first and more successfull shuttle and we actually got to the moon. Mother russia liked to be hidden out of embarrassment.

  • @fiveoscar you got to the moon with stolen german technology

  • Wa wa wa! Like you ruskies didn't scavange for germans. Since then, we maintained our stance as the leaders in space exploration. More than you can claim.

  • firstly im not russian im irish secondally the american space race was born out of the german v2 rocket programme.

  • No shit! Both the ruskies and the American started in the same way. But only one won and the other one collapsed and changed its name. And now America leads the world in space exploration. Why are you even making an argument. If we were talking about magical rainbows and lucky charms I'd understand but we're not, O'brien.

  • @fiveoscar america led the world in space exploration yesterday you obviously dont realise that china is soon to be the number 1 economy on planet earth, america is in debt to china by billions and very soon you wont be able to afford to launch a hot air balloon. the technology that got you to the moon was all stolen from germany russia was working on a rocket programme under stalin in the 1930s. stupid inbred yank

  • The technology that got us to the moon has been improved thru the years by us and only us. The soviet union couldn't do shit with it. And china relies heavily on what they can steal from us or buy from russia. Make no mistake, the U.S. can still afford to do lots of things and our economy has been thru far worse.

    Retarded little leprechaun.

  • @fiveoscar you cant aford to get yourself out of the banking crisis without chineese capital, you are the most in debt country in the western world. the soviets relied on their own tecnology you relied on stolen german technology.your country is going bankrupt and you will have to go begging to beijing to try and get them to get you out of the shit your in. im an irishman and proud at least im in my own country not like you a bastardized yank squatting on indian land.

  • The soviets stole german technology as well. You're either in some serious denial or just retarded. I believe a combination of both. We don't have to beg china for anything. We consume 70% of their shitty products so believe me, they have that and a lot more to want to stay on our good side. They call in their debt, we make up an excuse to invade.

And the irish are pussies. That's why the brits still own a good chunk of you.
