quite possibly the best part of this wyd was the police department. I remember on the first day they met us pilgrims with riot geer, paddy wagons and huge numbers... on the last day they were drinking hot chocolate with us, laughing and even singing with us. World youth day is never about shoving our religion in peoples faces, we aren't there for vacation or for a rock concert, its a spiritual trip and a time to show the world that Catholicism is still alive and still hopeful.

Hmm, now I know I'm probably going to get thumbs down for this, but I was a pilgrim, and man, no lie every day it was "Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oi Oi Oi!" over and over... After the second day I'm just like, no.

I don't understand all the negative comments.. I was there a whole week in Sydney and after WYD and there was a wonderful atmosphere. I was very welcome everywhere they asked about where i came from and about my country. I haven't seen one person who didn't like it we were there!

I have no problem with Religion and all that, but i do have a problem with all these Pilgrims walking around thinking they own the place, and pushing their beliefs in our face. I had to put up with them for over a week and im glad its done with. It just seems like a quick grab at the impressionable youth of the world to help sustain their church for the coming years. I would appreciate it if this comment wasn't hidden away rated poorly.. i only speak as an outsider looking in...

The Pilgrims dont think that they own the place and we dont shove our relgion into your faces. My sister was one of the Pilgrims and the people who pushed the relgion would be the other Christian denominations.

That's a shame, but I guess any city that gets a huge influx of people all in one go is going to feel overwhelmed. However a huge number of people are going to find out what a great city it is!
