  • @indianloves23 .. yup, the Kwakwaka'wakw Nation are on northeastern portion of Vancouver Island as well as the adjacent mainland coast in BC.

  • Hello AurorKismet, this is a great video, the documentary quality video and commentary is both interesting and relevant to Canadians. This video would be great for the Canada’s Got Treasures collection, which aims to feature Canadian videos of personal or cultural significance. Help celebrate Canadian diversity by joining our YouTube group (/group/TresorTreasure) and submitting your video. It would be made available on our channel and website.

  • this was really neat for me to see, as I am Kwakiutl...Unfortunatly I wasnt brought up around my Bigstone Cree/Kwakiutl background...I was adopted out when I was 5 years old and I tried finding out more about my aboriginal background and did not find out until late last year I am Cree as well...Thank you Aurorakismet for posting this...r u Kwakiutl as well?

  • Its James SEWID,

  • They understood more than you do.Stop trolling.

  • My sincerest apologies. I should have addressed it to that other person. I shared in a potlatch many years ago and felt the spirit. I meant no dishonor to you.

  • How come you know so much? It's not so much what you think you know, but what you know. You apparently don't have the spirit.

  • Are you addressing JuliendAnce or me?

  • We still remain strong and our culture well never die.

  • Serbians are nowaday's Kwakiutl.

Serbia was bombarded two months and a half, just because She dared defend Herself

against nazislamists and catholic croat hyenas.

  • They confiscated the masks?

Why? So they could stuff them into museums where they will sit and be forgotten and rot and lose the purpose which human hands gave them through making?

Those masks should be returned. After so much misery and disrespect the white man has given the Native American peoples, they still do not repent for their mistakes? Even now, so far into a future bragging of equality, kindness, and doing what is "right"?

Human kind really does have a knack for contradictions.

  • @Hellbrought The masks were confiscated to destroy the culture as at the time, the government was pursuing a policy of assimilation. This was to bring natives in line with western european ideals

  • @Hellbrought ... yes you're right. I agree with you, they should be brought back to their respective people along with the ancestors' bones and every other sacred item. The reason why they're in museums and places like that is so that the general public can HOPEFULLY become educated about ALL the ways, cultures, etc. Unfortunately too many whites out there don't take the ways and cultures seriously so as a result, ignorance sets in and they end up having no respect for the items!

  • During the second world war the US GOvt

set up 45 gallon drums full of Uranium

and also drop towers with Uranium filled drums

    hung.

The shot them all full of holes to see what the results would be down wind.

Downwind were the Indians of Dakota

    the effects are horrendous.

As A Canadian White Man I Say get your trophies back .

It's time for the war dance Something is not right in North America .

  • Do you see how white blended in to our nations. People don't call them white indians

  • ps: those insects confiscated youre sacred mask's! ..Get them back!! Demand they be returned at once!! doesnt matter if some museum has any, take them anyway! theyre youres!!

  • the solution to saving the culture is.....Folk-Metal!......it works for us, and it can work for you too!....vid:..(Martin Kesici feat. Tarja Turunen - Leaving you for me)

  • lol he says kwakiutl funny:P

  • I have read that the Kwakiutl masks also represent some wood humanoid similar to Bigfoot-Sasquatch.

Do they represent the Thunderbird also?

  • thats not funny

  • miss the dances hey?

you do know they still go on today:L
