  • We got to meet Neil after the show that night. Very special moment. Great song.

  • this live version of the song sounds a lot better than the album version. More uptempo... great song- a real gem

  • I was the concert in Austin, they didn't play this song this way. It was played like the album version, sounded so much more better.

  • Love watching this....brings back great memories of that show. Thanks so much for posting. Looking forward to seeing them in July at Wolf Trap.

  • WTF! I just read somewhere that this has been reworked in a 'samba' style for the upcoming album. Say it ain't so Neil!

  • Oh, I hope that's not true too. I love this version.

  • stellar!

  • Yeah!! come on lads. Get the album out.

  • Saw them twice in 2008. When will this be out? I love this song. I want it in my ipod.

  • "We stay together" (his family): I loved Neil & Split Enz since ca.1980, and married my husband just 4 days before Neil & Sharon married also, in Feb.1982. Sadly, mine no longer wants to "stay together."

  • excellent!!!!!!!!

  • Love this song. Saw them at Dublin and Liverpool. Either side of the Irish sea. I usually prefer their darker stuff but I can't help loving this one. It makes me smile. Can't wait for new album. Get to a studio soon fellas.

  • The amount of people i have introduced to CH and neil over the past 10 years is lamentable, and now they just cant get enough. i remember the front page of Q magazine in '93 with all the guys on it with their tops off and lights all over them saying what has CH got to do till get noticed. and we're still talking about. at least we know they are EPIC!!!!

  • It seems like everyone who is introduced loves them, but somehow they never reached the public stature they should have. Still, the fans are so devoted, it more than makes up for it, and at least we get to see them in relatively small venues, which are so much more fun.

  • your absolutely right mate. id only ever seen neil live twice on his own and twice with tim and have now seen CH 7 times in the past year. never thought we'd be seeing the magical performances and onstage madness again.

  • I think this is partly due to the chasm in 'humour' either side of the Pacific (Chocolate Cake), as well as the very low-key nature of Neil. Perhaps if he had taken his top off a bit more in the past, he might be as well known as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers or James Blunt!??!!?

  • i dunno - maybe sex, drugs and rebellion sells songs - however manufactured that may be these days - neil was always more of a family man - too nice for his own good .. i think the most outrageous thing i ever saw them do was roll up their trouser legs .. but they are the best (together with XTC of course)

  • @symmie666 Oh my gosh, I have that Q magazine.

  • Wow. What a wonderful song. On the basis of this and a few of the other new songs I've seen posted on Youtube, the next Crowded House album has the makings of a classic.

  • I completely agree. This one and "The Only Way to Go Is Forwards" are my favorites so far.

  • Yeah, well... I suspect some of the lyrics might change by the time the album is released. Neil seemed to have a folder with lyrics on the floor beside him, which he would occasionally look at, and there were still quite a few "da da da"s in the lyrics of some songs.

  • @fitterhappier74 Yeah, the lyrics have changed massively on this one, as has the sound. Much prefer the album version but still an awesome version.

  • Niel is talking about a state of mind. He he is describing the feeling. You don't get it? Maybe you've never known the feeling. How sad.

  • Oh yeah!! The best ever.

  • Indeed :)

  • gorgeous. when will this guy get the recognition he deserves...wait, he already has it...for those who know - as for the rest, who really cares that they have never experienced genius.

  • I think he's recognized within musical circles, but it would be nice if public xposure were greater, so more could enjoy. But yeah, at least we do...

  • He is recognised... in Australasia and England. Do you mean, "When will he be recognised in North America?"

  • I think you have to differentiate between the USA and Canada. Canucks have known all about him/them since the time of Split Enz. They've had number one hits in Canada over that whole time, although not recently, as the music markets are younger, musical tastes questionable.

  • One of the best new songs! Love it!

  • Indeed, so do I. Also love "The Only Way to Go Is Forwards."

  • Ah bless Love it like i Love Neil and of course CH

Neil just belts out better and better songs if this is possible

  • Indeed, this one really is lovely. Thanks for commenting!

  • he is just soooooooo cute and obviously missing his family ;(

  • excellent! Thanks for posting

  • Thanks! Happy to help. :)

  • what was the name of the new one with the lalalas at the end? the name escapes me..

  • I think it's the one referred to in the set lists as "Lucky." If I recall correctly, the full name is "Twice If You're Lucky." There was also one called "The Only Way to Go" that also had various lyric-less portions toward the end.

  • so so good.

  • Yes, it really is lovely. One of my favorite new ones (unfortunately I could not capture all of them).

  • Excellent audio! I was right up front at this show & your clip brings back some great memories. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks! I was a couple of rows back, and I wanted those memories myself. :)
